Our daughter went to Wa-Klo for 5 years and had a phenomenal time. Wa-Klo is a place where your daughter will develop deep and long-lasting friendships. The camp is dedicated to the development of the whole child, social, emotional and athletic. Our daughter looked forward all year to being in a beautiful environment, especially the lake, with no phones and surrounded by camp friends. During the school year, our daughter's life is taken up with sports and more sports. Wa-Klo was where she got a break from the intensity of having to perform. Instead she got to play what she wanted to for fun--activities other than what she does during her school year. If you are looking for a camp run by people who care about integrity and community--values that last a lifetime--then Wa-Klo is for you.

The most wonderful place in the world! Camp Wa-Klo has been home to my daughter for the past six summers. We first toured the property when she was 9 years old and never looked back. This coming summer she will be in the leadership training program for the older girls who are ready for more responsibility but not old enough to be counselors yet. Camp Wa-Klo has seen our daughter through her middle school years and with summers at Wa-Klo she has become stronger, more confident and more caring. Wa-Klo has taught her to take up space in the world, speak up for herself and others and to have fun! It is a special, magical place for girls where they each shine in their own special way and all are supported and loved. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff and the surroundings. My daughter has made friends and memories that will last a lifetime while honing life skills and growing into a wonderful, strong young woman.

My daughter is now going on her 4th summer at Camp Wak-lo; she started at age 9, which I HIGHLY recommend. Wak-lo is her very special summer home, a place that is just hers and her friends there have become her special summer family. She is able to be herself there, unplug from social media, and learn and grow as part of a family. I knew early on that my daughter would need a place where she could get away from it all and just spend the summer being a kid, with her own crop of friends and that is exactly what she has in Wak-lo. She comes home after her summer there very kind, helpful and independent. I'm so glad we choose summer camp for her and that we choose Wak-lo. By the way, she is among the world's most picky eaters and she does just fine food-wise there! The camp director, Tammy, takes the time to know each child as an individual and the staff she hires are consistently wonderful.

My daughter says the counselors are caring, thoughtful and supportive. I experienced them to be exactly that...& skilled, as well. I never thought I would send my 9 year old to a camp in another state but after watching videos of the campers, counselors, parents and staff, I felt confident that she would be in a safe, secure and nurturing environment. Next summer will be her 3rd at Camp Wa-Klo. My daughter loves it and so do I. Hi

Waklo is actually "home" for my three girls. They count down the days from the time camp ends until they can return. Wa-klo is a place where girls can be exactly who they are; they are encouraged, empowered, supported, heard, and loved. Wa-klo is a safe environment for these girls to explore their interests, to take risks, and to just "be". Wa-klo is CAMP. Its about being dirty, laughing, exploring, trying, figuring things out. Their are no airs at Wa-klo; its not fancy, its not a place where girls have to worry about how they look and what people think. They can be themselves every single day they are at camp. The age groups engage with each other in activities and throughout the day, so its truly like a big family. The girls learn, and develop, the qualities of confidant, strong, self assured leaders. Wa-klo meets each girl "where they are" and appreciates each girl for their individuality. Wa-klo is where the girls can find themselves and feel brave enough to try. BEST CAMP!!!

Our journey with Wa-Klo began 4 years ago when our daughter began as a camper at the age of 8. We could not be happier with the experiences she has had and will continue to have each summer. She has made best friends from all around the world, has had experiences she could have no where else except at Wa-Klo, and because of this is a more confident, mature, and happy young lady. We are always amazed at the wonderful changes we see in her when she returns home from 7 weeks of fun, laughter, exciting activities, and friendships that will last a lifetime. Each August when she comes home, the countdown to the following June begins. She crosses off each day on her calendar until it is time to start packing and leave for camp. Camp Wa-Klo our daughter’s second home and she is her best self when she is there surrounded by her best friends. We cannot thank Wa-Klo enough for all they have done for our daughter.

My daughter likes the counselours very much but says that the animals are NOT being fed and that sometimes there is not ENOUGH FOOD even for the kids. She also is saying that the counselours are very over worked and always stressed out and tired. I am pulling my daughter from this camp this week.

This camp is amazing. I went for the first time this year and loved it! I am personally very sensitive, and get anxious easily. The campers and counselors were so caring and my bunk counselor Liz treated me like her sister. One night i felt extremely sick and she sat with me and read me to sleep. I am 13. I left camp in tears and i still keep in touch with camp friends every day. I love camp Wa-Klo!

Our introduction to Wa-Klo dates back to when my sister went there over 10 years ago. My girls remember visiting their auntie at camp and couldn't wait to go themselves. After four three-week summers at Wa-Klo, my middle is about to head off for the full seven weeks. The eldest is getting a job :-( Wa-Klo is a wonderful place where kids can be kids - no technology, no pressure, no drama. Because of the all girls environment and the uniform norm, there is little emphasis on the superficial stuff and more on growing leadership skills, pushing yourself to learn new skills and learning to be independent. Tammy, the newly named director, has been doing a terrific job of listening to feedback and making changes to the camp - nothing that alters the essence of what Wa-Klo is but enough that the campers and parents notice. The only thing I wish they would add is a camp for boys so my youngest could also benefit!

We have been so thrilled with camp Wa-klo for our daughter, who is 11. She has been two years in a row--first for two weeks and then for four. She is now begging to stay for 7! I actually used a camp consultant to help us find the right camp. I was looking for something that is free of a lot of the girl drama, and that has wonderful facilities..but is not too fancy. I really wanted her to focus on the activities--being outdoors--the adventure and leadership opportunities. Wa-klo is everything I could have hoped. The leadership is excellent--it's been the same family for a long time, and the values are fantastic. My daughter has made wonderful friends, and has been trying things I never thought she would try. The counselors have been just excellent--and the color wars at the end of each session are an incredible highlight. I really can't say enough about this wonderful place! Happy to talk to anybody who is interested. Hugodella@gmail.com

Our 10 yr old daughter is about to start her third summer at Wa-Klo. As a parent, I LOVE this camp. Special things about Wa-Klo--Pet Care!Campers can take care of bunnies, goats and a calf. In addition Wa-Klo also has crew, which is unusual. I did a ton of research before choosing Wa-Klo. I love that Wa-Klo was started as an all-girls camp, and is not an "add-on" to a boys' camp. That history has helped create a culture that is supportive, challenging, and completely unencumbered by "what the boys are doing", which is a nice environment for this age group. I get that every camp (like life!) will have some nice people, some snobs, etc. but overall my daughter has found the environment to be very friendly and supportive. I'm surprised to see the negative reviews of the food. The food is GREAT. Love Camp Wa-Klo-so glad we chose it. When we picked her up after 4 weeks my breath was taken away by how healthy and happy she looked. She is counting the days and can't wait to get back to Wa-Klo

What an amazing place Camp Wa-Klo is!! My daughter has spent the last 5 summers there. It's been a magical place where she has found a sense of self, confidence, sense of adventure and life long friends. The leadership and overall staff have been attentive and supportive each summer. It's a camp that believes in tradition, kindness and community. Girls are supported and encouraged to be the very best they can be. Whether its trying new activities, making new friends they learn to be the best version of themselves. Wa-Klo is going into their 80th summer. They have done an incredible job of maintaining the camps core values and culture while staying modern to meet the needs of girls in today's world. Its a device free camp tucked in the most beautiful corner at the base of Mt. Monadnock. I highly recommend this camp!

As a counselor here in the 1990's, I was miserable. There was very little comraderie among the counselors except for those who had been here as campers. All else were excluded because the weren't "in" on the joke. The campers only liked you when they wanted to use you for something - like being on the "drivers" list so you could take them off-campus for movies, shopping, etc.. After counselors were told to open the campers trunks and set up things like alarm clocks, personal photos, etc. one of my campers complained to her mother that I had been messing around in her trunk and administration actually reprimanded me for doing what I was told to do! Probably nice for the campers but horrible for counselors.

Great staff, poor food. Old fashioned, wonderful charm was excellent. Good place to unplug and be a kid. Not a place for serious equestrian. Many other excellent opportunities for learning though. Overall, my daughter loved it. Will return.wish there was better quality of food.

Choosing Wa-Klo for camp was one of the best decisions that we have made for our daughters. They have thrived at Wa-Klo and they have newfound confidence levels that we did not know existed. They talk about camp all year long and get together and communicate with their camper-friends regularly. So why did we personally choose Wa-Klo? First and foremost we decided that if the girls were going away to camp for the summer, we needed a camp with the right fit for them. To us that meant a staff from the Director on down that would take a personal interest in the individual experience of the camper. We considered factors like safety, activities, camp spirit, food, location when we did our comparisons. We liked the "no cell phone" policy as it gets them disconnected and promotes talking versus texting. Uniform policy, we like that too. We deal with the "what am I going to wear dilemma" throughout the school year...and they love that at Wa-Klo fashion is an afterthought. Wa-Klo is AMAZING!

A wonderful camp experience for my daughter. The camp is set in a beautiful part of Southern NH and the lake is crystal clear. Waklo offers a large variety of activities but its greatest strength is the community it creates. My daughter attended Waklo for 12 years and she met a great group of girls. She made friends with girls from all age groups and still stays in touch with many of them. Waklo teaches not only activitiy skills but engenders life long values as well. The counselors and staff are caring and supportive. Waklo, to me, is the quintessential summer camp experience.

This will be my first summer at Wa-Klo. I went to visit with my family last year and absolutely loved it! When I first arrived, one of the director’s, Susan Chenet, met me at the front office to take me on a tour. We walked around camp while she answered all of my questions, and introduced me to counselors and campers. I saw everything from the dining hall and the bunks to the gym and the theatre. Everyone made me feel so comfortable, and the people that I met were so nice and welcoming. This camp is incredibly gorgeous, with a beautiful waterfront and you can see Mount Monadnock. I can’t wait to try the horseback riding, and there is also an awesome archery field where I hope to spend some of my time. There are so many water activities and all of the campers looked so happy and were having a blast. Overall, Wa-Klo radiates a positive energy and I cannot wait to arrive there this summer!

NO WAY! Wa-Klo is a big waste of time! I would NEVER send my daughters there! We toured Wa-klo this summer and during our entire time touring a director or owner NEVER bothered to take a few minutes to say hello to us! We have 2 girls. How could we ever considering sending our daughters to a camp when we never met the people who run it? We drove 4 hours to tour the camp and a director could not take 5 minutes to introduce themselves to us? I get that they are busy but they should have at least said hello! Our tour guide was some counselor who did not know anything about the camp. All she did was point at buildings. We had to ask to go inside a bunk, the shower house, the dance studio, it was like Wa-Klo was trying to hide something? The bunks were crammed and the shower house was filthy. If this is how Wa-Klo treats a potential family who is looking to send 2 girls to their camp, summer after summer, then I want NO part of this place. BEWARE!

This summer I had the chance to visit Wa-Klo on a tour with my daughter. Of all the summer camps we viewed in the NH area, Wa-Klo was by far the best! The scenery is beautiful, set on a lake with a view of Mt. Monadnock. The staff was very friendly. We were welcomed not only by our tour guide, but by every other counselor we passed which made my daughter feel at ease. My daughter is looking forward to spending her summer at Wa-Klo in 2014, I just wish I could join her there!

Wa-Klo is truly the most beautiful camp!! My nieces attend camp every summer from the south, and one of them has said, "I get through the school year, because I have Wa-Klo to look forward to." I was able to be their mom during parent's weekend, because their parents couldn't attend, and I had an amazing time. I can see why my nieces love it so, for the counselors are knowledgeable and loving, the place is beautiful both inside and out, and the leadership team was present and open. How lucky my two precious nieces are to find a true home away from home. As they like to call it, "Their little corner of the world."

I went to camp for 3 summers and they were absolutely amazing!! I made so many new friends that have become like sisters, and the staff became my second family. I still visit a lot of my friends even though I didn't go back last summer! Wa-Klo has so many great traditions that make you feel like you are really a part of the camp. I was able to try a ton of activities that I wouldn't normally get to try, and I was able to grow as a person without parental, social, or academic pressure. If you are unsure about going to camp after reading some negative comments, let me tell you this: Wa-Klo has improved immensely over the past few years. Many of the buildings have been renovated, there is a new chef, and I can tell you first hand that the counselors and directors are some of the kindest people you will ever meet. I adore everything about Wa-Klo and I truly wish I could continue to go back with my sisters every year. Green and White are in my heart forever!!

Camp Wa-Klo is honestly one of my favorite places on earth. I have been going since I was 9 years old and this year I will be going for my 7th year. I started out as a young camper, and now I am a junior counselor. The staff are wonderful, they vary from year to year but I have always found them to be very caring and mature. They know when to be serious and when to be silly. They are some of the most down to earth people. The directors are great. They take time to make sure every camper is happy and taken care of. The facilities are very home-like. Activities are awesome. No class is too big or too small and you learn so much while you are there. Waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking are some of my favorites. Counselors always take time to make sure each kid is alright and they send post cards home to parents to let them know how their daughter is doing. The trips are also very fun and safe. Camp Wa-Klo is actually my home away from home. It is beautiful and I love it.

The counselors are amazing and make you feel right at home. if you're older than 13 there's dances and camping trips so you're always busy! Both me and my sister go, and we both love it. I will be going for 2 months again this year, Send your daughters here and i promise they will have the time of your life! if their homesick, they make you feel right at home. the directors and the kids are so amazingly nice. :) worth the money all the way. come prepared for a great summer at WK!

I went to Wa-Klo for 2 summers, and I think it is possible too love it, but not everyone does. Some people think it is the best camp in the world, some people hate it. I enjoyed Wa-Klo and do think some of the criticism about it is unfair, but it wasn't the right camp for me, and I think a lot of other people felt the same way. I now go to a different camp, where I feel at home. If anyone didn't click with Wa-Klo, come to Chimney Corners, where your cabinmates are your sisters and you don't have to worry about fitting in. All that said I do miss Wa-Klo, a little, but Chimney Corners is my home.

This year was my first year doing sleep away camp and this camp is the WORST!!!! DON'T GO HERE!!! The girls are sooooo mean and they lie and trick you and if your a first year, THE STAFF TREAT YOU LIKE CRAP AND THE GIRLS ONLY LIKE YOU FOR ONE DAY AND THATS IT! THE GIRLS ONLY LIKED ME BECAUSE IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY ON THE FIRST DAY! The girls make you cry and if your homesick, the staff yell at you!!! My advice, DON'T GO HERE!

after having spent 4 weeks at this camp by the time it was for me to leave i found it nearly impossible. i cried everytime i hugged a friend because i knew that it might be a while before i saw them again.the land is fairly large but is very clean. the staff is amazing and helps you through any obsticals that may come your way. the friends you make are friends you will keep a life time and grow strong and close with. the food is extreamly healthy. plumbing could be better. at first the day before i left i was very questionable about going. but by the time i got there and began to experience the choice i had made. i was glad i had gone. i wouldnt have traded my summer for anything else. it was by far my most favorite and most memorable summer ever. i plan on returning for my LTG years.

I totally loved this camp it gave me a chance to embrace the outdoors. As they state, it is a great camp for the 21st century girl. You have to go to this camp. I live in NJ and my parents didn't want me to go because they are over protective and said it was too far away. but they love me so they said yes and now i am more behaved and grown up after this experience. I felt important and valued at this camp with my peers and counselors. It is expensive but defiantly worth while you get to be yourself and love yourself

This is the perfect place for a girl. Wa-klo is a welcoming, gorgeous environment. The only reason the personal attention receives a three is because girls largely gain independence, however support from the staff is always available. The facilities are superb, the camp is always being renovated during the off seasons. There are a plethora of activities. Some you may not find at other camps such as water skiing. The most AMAZING thing about this camp is the relationships you will gain here. Girls are bound to make long lasting friendships . When night activities are being deliberated many girls ask for bunk bonding because they would be more than content just to hang out with their friends. The camp is pricy but it is more than worth it. Wa-klo has a huge retention rate. Almost eveyone falls in love with Wa-klo except some of the young ones (ages 6-9) who may have trouble with home sickness, but this would go for any sleep away camp. Wa-klo will always be a large part of me.

This camp is incredible. I count down to it every year and i can't imagine my life without it. Unlike other ratings, the food is good and if you don't like something, there are many other options and you can have food in the cabins. The activities are amazing and very well taught and have lots of things to offer. Girls are very close with their bunks, but they also have friends all over camp including in different age groups. There is lots of fun competition, but nothing too serious. I can honestly say that i have never felt uncomfortable there and i feel like i can be myself. I have met so many great people and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!

I went to Wa-Klo in the 80s, and have been back many times since to visit. It becomes part of you somehow. I love that girls can design their own programs... the only required activity is swimming. The values and mission of Wa-Klo are timeless. Check the website, see for yourself. The staff are passionate about camp and about helping girls grow into strong, independent, thoughtful young women and good friends. Of course everywhere there will be someone who has a bad experience. Wa-Klo I think is unusual in that it has enriched so many girls' lives so strongly. All that said, I am concerned that it has gotten so expensive, and is basically a camp for rich girls now. I certainly can't afford 9K/summer for each of my girls to go there.

this camp works for some kids, it has a very loyal following but the bunks are run down and they are hiking up the tuition. They are weird about the food, and said it was ok for a child to add things to milk for extra nutrition but then the child was not allowed to. My young child lost 5lbs in ONE MONTH. She had fun but she did say one of her counselors was mean and they rationed her food giving her 3 smiley fries because they were 'fattening' This is the first year without one of the main directors there so perhaps they are having growing pains. clearly there are happy girls there. The tuition is going up to 9k. For 9k I would expect the bunks to be updated and some substitutions to be at meals and that food not be rationed like that. My heart broke when my child told me they wouldn't let her use her nutrition packets and when she said her stomach hurt from hunger all the time.

Well I never attended Camp Waklo but I have had dances with the girls from them as a member of the all boys camp across the lake. So I guess it is a pretty good camp the girls are nice and polite and they really like boy scout socks.

I love going to camp here.i've been going there for 5 years now and loving it .the food is great and the staff is the best.i recomend this camp to anyone who loves the outdoors. The counselors here r so helpful.and every year me and my friend go home crying because we loved it,and we have to wait 10 more months until we get back there.i am an 8 week camper going there evry year to try new things.i've had the time of my life there. For me camp os my second home.If you go there you would know that camp is our "little corner of the world"if you deside to go to this camp i think that you made the right choice.and if any parents want to see the camp you can go in and one of the counselors will show you everything.

I LOVE this camp. It is so amazing. I can't imagine not going for a summer. It is just sooo much fun and you meet soo many new people, and the people you meet are like your camp best friends. It's like one big sleepover with your friends. They keep you busy, and it's fun! Just come and see for yourself, YOU WON'T BE SORRY!

my mother went for 9 years, my aunt for 8, my cousin for 4, and myself for 12 years... and i wouldn't trade my experience there for anything in the world. the environment is gorgeous, the activities are broad in scope with excellent facilities, children are well-supervised and happy, and the memories one makes there will definitely last a lifetime. i'd recommend this camp to any young girl looking for a special sleepaway camp experience.. because as the motto of wa-klo i grew up with states, it is "a summer your daughter will remember." and remember i always will. :D

camp waklo is definately a place where girls of all ages can come to learn and grow. as soon as a girl comes to waklo, she immediately becomes a part of something so special it's impossible to fully describe in words. i would definately recommend it to anyone.

This camp is so much fun. They try to keep it interesting and fun for everyone there, and they are great about giving everyone individual attention they need. I think it's a great camp to go to and I can't wait to be back next year!

CAMP WAKLO IS AMAZING! It was my fifth year this year and i plan to return for #6. I love everything about this place: the activities, staff, and all of the other random things we do. Each day is a new chance for every girl to learn and grow. You should definately check it out its a great way to spend your summer and meet people from all walks of life.
