The councelers are some of the nicest people I have ever met the girls there are amazing! The activities have such a extraordinary variety like where else can you make glass?! I'm OBSSESED with this camp. The sports are amazing because you can start at any level. Lochearn is really a place where girls can learn to be a leader and be supported my everyone around them. The food is actually pretty fantastic for camp food and they had special days and they were so much fun I would look forward to them. Leaving was the hardest thing ever my cabin cried saying goodbye but luckily we are all coming back because IT'S THE BEST!! I would so reccommend to kids of any age.

I went to this camp and it is the best experience I have ever had. The counselor are kind and understanding. I made some of my best friends there it is a kind and inclusive environment I've been to many camps but none of them them compare to my home way from home. I can't wait to go back!

I do not understand how people hate this camp. This summer would have been my second summer and I would have been a ctp but I was so excited and the girls here have become my sisters and family it is not cliquey whatsoever and camp has become my home. The food is normal summer camp food so don't hate on it plus the bread rolls on banquet night slap. Summer and scout our dogs are the cutest things and Stacie and Tony are the best and always there for you. The counselors are hilarious and the best to hang around and the lake may be freezing but when you're out with your friends on the water trampoline it makes up for it. I came into camp with almost no friends and by the end was friends with too many too count the girls are kind and caring and the best to constantly be around. Late nights in your cabin in the best and singing at dinner hits different. The bathroom line is so fun at night but overall this is the best camp on Lake Fairlee.

I think that Camp Locheaen is a great camp. In some other comments it says that we are mean and cliquey. I have been going for two years and it hasn’t been very cliquey. Yes, there were a few mean girls, and when they began to really make fun of me I just ignored them. You don’t have to let a few girls ruin your camp experience. For the staff I left a 4 because they are all pretty nice, expect for a few who I just ignore. As for the facilities I think that they are really cool, as well as the activities. I gave personal attention a 4 because sometime the counselors need to focus on someone besides you, which is fine because you don’t need to be the center of attention all the time. Overall I though camp lochearn was an amazing camp, thanks to tony and Stacy.

This summer camp gave me so much joy and i love it. I made life long friends and family. The activites are so much fun i couldnt ask for a better camp. The only problem i ever had was one of my conselers kinda gossiped about my cabin mates and other kids at camp so that wasnt fun. But everything else was good. And the food was amazing even though they should limit the food a little more. I def would recommend this camp

I've been coming to this camp ever since I was 8, and it always was the highlight of my summer. Every year, I would beg and beg my parents to send me again and again. I've always been able to make friends with my cabin and become super close with everyone around me, including the staff. It has taught me so much, and I will remember the sunsets, laughs, and friends forever. It introduced me to such a new set of people from all over and has always served as a home when things became hard at school. Sure, the camp may not be for everyone, but if it is, you will love it. I've stopped going 2 years ago, but still miss it and think about it all the time.

I have been going to this camp since I was 8, I have loved every year. From the first day in our cabins to the last hug from my friends. I know this sounds kinda cheesy but it is truly a second home for me. Even though some people disagree with some things such as the awards at the end of the year. But I think it makes the camp unique and really encourages nice and inclusive behavior. The camp has changed significantly since the new directors have come (even though I think the previous ones where just fine and dandy). The current directors really make an effort to connect with the campers. The staff are great and encouraging. The cabins and bathrooms are nice and not to crowded with campers since the max for each cabin is 8. They are clean (when the campers do cabin clean up and bathrrom duty:p) The food is actually really good, and they have so many options for people who are vegetarian or just sorta picky! Once again I love this camp with all my heart I hope you will too.

Camp Lochearn has been the highlight of my summer ever since fourth grade. It is a great place where you can be yourself, and try new activities instructed by the best staff you can get. It is located on quite possibly the most beautiful place. The serene mountains and the beautiful lake are breathtaking. Many of my friends who go to camp complain about how bad their food is, but I am allowed to say that Lochearn's food is the best. The chefs are amazing and they offer the best variety of choices for the campers. I come from a very Jewish town where everybody goes to very cliquey jewish camps; I love Lochearn because everybody is different and you learn a lot of new things about people that you never knew before. Lochearn is truly a great place and I could not imagine going to camp anywhere else:)

I have been going to Lochearn for 6 years and this will be my seventh. I came with a friend when I was 8, so it was pretty easy for me to make friends from then on. It can be cliquey, especially in the older kids. There are definitely groups- popular people and misfits. I had a great time personally, but I see how it could seem cliquey to newcomers. I had an awful counselor in my second year that was fired, and there have been some staff that I really didn't like- either they were really intimidating or snobbish and played favorites. I took quilting every year I went, but never finished a single project because the counselors were too busy and don't help anyone unless you throw yourself at them. Also, a lot of fake peppy kids always get the awards, which is annoying. But I really love Lochearn.

Our daughter loved this camp. After doing a two week session, she wanted to come back for four weeks, which she did this summer. Very positive environment that teaches niceness and focuses on building inner confidence.

Going to Lochearn has been the best experience for me. Going back this summer will be my fifth year. :) The staff is always great, and if there are any problems within camp they are addressed immediately which is great. Everyone fits in and that is hard to find in other camps. The motto sums up the camp experience for every camper. The activities are very fun and enjoyable, and camp is full of firsts. 4 yrs ago I couldnt waterski, but now I can easily get up on 1 ski, the staff are all great people and great teachers. Over the rest of the yr that I'm not at camp I am keeping in touch with all of my friends and counselors. It really says something about how great everything is. This camp is a real eye opener to your real self and you can just let loose and have fun. This camp should be at the top of your list when considering summercamps for your daughter(s). See you there!!:)

I too am horrified by some of the comments that have been made here about Lochearn. As a camper who spent six beautiful summers there, I can honestly say it is an incredible place. You are not only in an amazing place, but surrounded by people who ooze love and acceptance. Every staff member I came in contact with over my 6 years at Lochearn was attentive and cared deeply about all of her girls. The lessons I learned at Lochearn about appreciation and compassion have stuck with me long after my last year as a camper, and have been a major part of shaping who I am. The friends I've made have stayed with me longer than any schoolmates have and I still look forward to my time with them. Further, the facilities are lovely, the food is very good and the grandness of nature surrounding the camp gives it a sublime feeling. If you want to send your daughter to a place where she will learn not only responsibility and to be a good person, but the love she is capable of, Lochearn is for you.

Lochearn is a place that I know that I can consider to be a home for the rest of my life. I went to Lochearn for 6 years and each year I had the most incredible experiences I could ever imagine. I know that through Lochearn I made some friendships that I know I will have for the rest of my life! The entire staff is incredible and really want to get to know you and help. The atmosphere and facilities are perfect for camp! I just love how outdoorsey everything is! I know that at lochearn I have tried things I would never have tried anywhere else and at Lochearn I always felt comfortable. Lochearn has truly shaped me to be confident and to help others and to be a better person. The time I spent at lochearn will stay in my heart for ever!! Lochearn Lassie for Life!!!!

I was a camper at Lochearn for 6 summers and I loved every single one. I made some of my best friends there and it is truly a place where you can be yourself. The counselors are amazing people and all the activities are so much fun. I definitely recommend it to any girl who wants to have an amazing summer experience and I know that they will love it as much as I did. I have stayed in touch with the girls I met there even today and I can't imagine not going to such a wonderful place.

A first-year for my 13 yo daughter at Lochearn. Her reaction when we went to pick her up in August..."I want to come back next year!" A great experience; she loved it! I asked her about any girls who have negatives regarding Lochearn (a few of them on this web-site)? She said...it is likely those (very few) girls who are odd or who have social difficulties. Lochearn is NOT a camp for anyone who is socially inept or expects coddling. If your girl is not social and not engaging, then go to therapy camp. Lochearn IS a great place for happy, healthy, outgoing girls!

Wonderful facilities and instruction. Lochearn is a well-run, traditional camp. My daughter is in her fourth Summer there and absolutely couldn't wait to get up to Post Mills. She has made great friends. The camp makes a real effort to ensure that the girls treat each other kindly and with respect.

I've gone to Lochearn for many summers, and I consider it to be my second home. My friends at camp are like a family to me. Some of us live far apart but whenever we see each other on opening day it's like we can pick up from where we left off before. The staff are so kind, FUNNY, and understanding. I feel like I've challenged myself in ways that I might not have at school. The best thing about Lochearn is the way that everybody cares for each other.

I didn't really enjoy this camp because the girls seemed to be kinda clique-y. This camp also focuses on making "strong and mature young women", however a lot people are so mean. Many of the counselors didn't notice that some people (like me) were being excluded because strong friendships were already formed from previous summers. Some counselors might have also chose to ignore it. This camp was not outdoors-y at all because there was no camping and people wore really nice clothes. Maybe I just thought that a camp meant camping and not hanging out at a rich kid estate.

DON'T SEND YOU DAUGHTER! Camp is run by hypocrites who allow cliques, favoritism and elitism. What they say and what they do are completely opposite. My daughter went for a few years, at first it was fine. As they get older it gets VERY different. Almost cult like in the later years, if you see LOCHEARN they way they do fine, if you have any individuality they will thwart you. This "place of goodness" is really very superficial. This is a business and the owner/operators do not have your kids best interest at heart, they have their own ($). When questioned or challenged the owner/operators make it clear it is their way, so hit the highway. Overall, it was a waste of a lot of money and has left a bitter taste. I wish someone had told me this when I was looking for a camp for my child. Keep looking you can certainly do better than LOCHEARN.

The councellors were pretty cool and I did look up to some of them... but the problem was that they would favor kids/ talk about them behind their back. Then when it came to all the prizes at the end of camp, it would be the same people winning every time! I tried so freaking hard to be enthusiastic about having to jump into a freezing lake on a rainy day, help out with the little kids, be affable & always excited to do our chores... but it would always be the fake girl next to me who would jump up & down and scream happily about jumping in the freezing lake, who would proclaim "I LOVE BATHROOM DUTY" -she would win the stupid prizes. It was always the same fake people. I had no chance- no one paid attention to me. On the other hand, it was dirty as heck and the bathrooms /showers were 10 miles away from your cabin. The evening activities were a drag and the regular activities were far from fun. The food was pretty good, but I was definitely happy to get home.

Daughter really wanted to go for two years. Finally let her. She never was able to water ski. Did not receive mail that was sitting there for her for two weeks(this is the only contact) some of the counselors are bizarre and were fired after the first session. Bathrooms are far away. She did not take a shower for 5 days. Food was not very good. No real personal attention. Very cult like on visiting day. She never wanted to go back. I would not recommend this camp

This was my first year and I loved Lochearn! The horseback riding facilities are great and I learned how to do a lot of other things there, including water skiing, sailing and lacrosse. Food was good and we got to sing loudly in the dining room. Everyone was so nice and it was awesome. Can't wait for next year! Go Blue!

this camp is amazin! i loved every minute of it. i started out as a new girl and a "younger" senior camper, but everyone is so welcoming that i fit right in. if anyone is shy or doesn't know if you want to go to camp, this one will be your home away from home! you'll make lots of friends and the staff is so nice and funny that they are like your older sisters and brothers! After reading all of the reviews, it seems that people either LOVE it or HATE it. My daughter came to this camp ALONE and loved it. We wish we found it earlier. She was only able to attend for two years before she was too old to return. Some of the reviews aren't quite accurate. First of all, they hired a new food service coordinator, so the food has improved. Also, you pick your classes and there is every land sport, water sport and arts activity imaginable. My daughter learned to water ski and sail. She was also exposed to a higher level of lacrosse than we could find in the midwest. Tennis is probably the most popular. She rounded out her weeks with pilates, hip hop and ceramics because she likes those things and did not want to spend her time doing all sports. True the cabins are small, but all of the facitilites and the grounds are immmaculate and clean. The location on the lake is incredible! Lastly, the staff and the campers were caring and friendly. A++++

My daughter is starting her third year at Lochearn in July. We have had nothing but positive experiences there. The facilities are beautiful and the staff has been phenomenal. She absolutely loves it and cannot wait to go back. Lochearn has been a tremendously positive experience for our daughter and we have no hesitation in recommending it to any young girl.

I HATED THIS CAMP! i decided to come alone, and make friends which was a HUGE mistake. everyone came with other people which left me alone. luckily i only came for the one week session because i couldn't stand being with those girls for 4 weeks! most of them were just plain mean. and stuck up too. the food.... well if u like yellow/green chicken pot pie, then go ahead. their nightly activities were okay, but their daily activities were pretty bad. they sent me and this other girl out on a sailboat with two little crying girls when no one had ever sailed before. I HATED IT! WORST CAMP OF MY LIFE!

This camp was good, as a starters camp. I was here for my first sleepaway camp,and was only for 1 week. It was fun, the councilers always gave good attention, and the activites were fun. The girls sometimes can be a little clique-y, but most of the time every one was nice. This camp is waaaaaaay too expensive, though. Overall, I give 1 thumb up. The cabins were also too small, and there were no shelfs.

This camp is not my fav .The cabins were awful. The beds were really close together, I was like being kiked . They didn't even have drawers to put your stuff in so you would be digging through your bags for 5-10 minuts . My counsler was dead . She did not talk at all I swear . When one of my cabin mates asked her what she liked to do in london she just said shopping ,that's all she said. The nurse knew nothing about being a nurse. She wasn't even a nurse she was a ER . She gave my meds at the wrong times of the day. The food stinks here . Some of the kids threw up after that Mac and Cheese. They served us cake for beackfest which is weird. The only thing I like about this camp the girls in my bunk,the location, and the tennis award. Don't go here ,you will regret it.

OMG i hate this camp. i broke my wrist there and they thought there was nothing wrong. they didn't even tell my parents, i had to call them. this camp sux do not go here. i had to take arts and crafts all summer cuz the sports sux. can u say beading, beading, and basket weaving.

I have been going her for 6 summers, it has truly changed my life. I started as a little junior camper and worked my way up to being a CT. The staff is unbelievable, everyone is so nice and willing to give themselves up for the good of the camp. The facilities are so nice, the camp is beautiful and so well maintained. Every counselor periodically sits down with their campers to track their experience at camp. Everything is worked around character building and "doing the right thing." I'd be surprised if anyone can find a place where people are as nice to each other as they are here. I would recommend this camp to anyone who wants a good time at a well rounded, clean, respected camp. If you made me say something negative about it, I would say that it is very expensive, however, it is all worth it's value - every year there are new additions to making the facilities nicer or widening the activity availability. Plus, the choice of staff is unbelievable. IT IS THE MOST AMAZING PLACE EVER

All ANYONE at this camp is concerned with is THEMSELVES! so much drama and gossip, these girls cant ever keep their mouths shut. Some of the girls are also extremely exclusive, and "clique-y". The only thing i liked about this camp was the location. NOTHING else.

Lochearn is somewhat like country club with appearance being very special to the directors. However, the activities are wonderful and you couldn't find more qualified staff. The waterfront activities are fantastic and the arts program is great--not that everything else isn't good, too. There is a lot of high pitched stress and "hype" that can cause people to be too hyper for those of us that like calm. Sometimes people are mean to staff and sometimes kids get away with things because someone likes them. This is bad. But if you like a camp that's like a country club Lochearn is for you. If you like a camp that is rustic and where you learn a lot of campcraft choose someplace else.

I was a camper at Lochearn for six years, starting out at the age of eight. I skipped two years to try something new and came back at the age 15 to be a CT because nothing compares to the camp. Its beautiful, there are tons of activities, you make amazing friends. The camp puts an emphasis on important values such as friendship, kidness, and acceptance. It's a tad pricey for the average family but its well worth it. The staff members are highly qualified, friendly, helpful and well trained. Despite what someone said below me, the food is awesome and will not make you gain weight. All the meals are well balanced. The cabins are clean, the bathrooms are clean, and the other facilities on the camp are excellent. Lochearn isn't really just a camp for most campers- it becomes a second home where you have lifelong friends.

OMG..Both my mom and I went to this camp it is the best.....everyone is soo nice...cabins are clean and the baths are too....the lake is cold and you have to swim...but the sailing and horses make up for the morning frost bite!!!! You really cry at the campfire on the last night!!! these people are your family... NOTE to the person who didn't like it.. you must be a person who likes very little...I am sorry 4 U!!

the staff here are really mean. all the girls are wayy too excited about everything. they have soo much junk food that it caused me to gain 17 pounds! i went here for one year and it really made me hate all camps everywhere because i thought that was wahat all camps were like. thank god, i found a better camp that changed my opinion.....my advice is DONT GO HERE
