I can not explain how much fun this camp is. There are so many activites and traditions. Everyone is so welcoming and nice, even for first time campers. The camp is rustic, but it is still very clean and safe, and personally, I think that is how summer camp should be. The facilities are beautiful and are taken care of very well. The horses are also amazing, and very safe. The food and the lake are amazing and I will never get bored of the blob in the lake! There is a giant field where HORSESHOWS take place along with other great activities. The counclers are also super fun aswell. This camp also gives lots of oppertunities to expierience the ADK area such as tons of hikes. I will be going back to this camp for as long as I can! Both sessions are amazing and seven weekers have more fun !!! ;))

I went to this camp as a child, and now send my kids. I didn't think it was possible, but I believe they love it more than I did! While it is a "rustic" camp, it is really what summer camp should be about. I did look at other camps and was amazed at how much more they cost. Great counseling staff, professional full time staff, great nurses and health office - activities are endless, and the lake is beautiful. My kids talk about going back as soon as they arrive home!

Each year the camp gets better - hard when it was so good to begin with. Counsellors are incredible (no tipping means they are paid a decent wage and can treat all kids fairly) and the campers are all individuals to the administration. Best hiking and equestrian programs around, and an incredible value. This is no frills (no electricity, no swimming pool) but that is what camp is all about. No spoiled brats here!

Too bad there isn't a way to give a camp higher than 5--this is an amazing place. My daughter's gone for 5 summers and her brother leaves for his 2nd shortly. (He's so disappointed we won't let him go yet for the whole summer.) This is a warm, nuturing, genuine place. It's as special as they come. I can't possibly say enough good about Poko! The whole team is just incredible.

As a parent I can't say enough good things about this camp. It is not fancy, but then why should camp be fancy? The important things are the warmth of the staff, the great activities and setting, and the wonderful kids. Also, it is a very good value in a world where everything is overpriced. This is a camp that is traditional, but not tradition-bound; it welcomes change while sticking to the great programs and high integrity of its founders.

My third year sending my children here. They love it. I went as a kid, and looked at other camps, but Poko has such great traditions and caring staff. I also was glad to see that the camp's prices were very reasonable. I was always a "7 Weeker," but my kids go for the 4 week session. They talk about it all year!

Very run down camp...docks sink when it rains, weight training room decrepit, game room dusty, hasn't been cleaned out in yrs, smelly couches in music area not enough toilet paper (even on visiting day!!). Trails leading from one activity to another often flooded due to poor maintenance. Virtually no indoor activities on rainy days. Put some money into the place! Great climbing instruction. Nice kids, lovely lake. 1st session has dbl the electives as second.

Poko was the best. I loved the low ropes course. The only bad thing was I fell on a tree root during the sensory course. My friend and I fell on top of Mrs.Churco. I think I hurt her. The slave run was also great. Comfy beds. Better then Lake Clear Camp!!!

This place is the most amazing camp out there. This is the place that when you get there, its the best times of your life. When you have to leave, your at home counting down the days until you can go back. There are so many different things you can do and learn. Going to this camp i have done things that i would never have the chance to do where i live, such as windsurfing, pottery, hiking, horseback riding every day, mountain biking, and so much more. The people are some of the coolest people i have ever met and i know i will stay in touch with them forever. Its a great camp to have fun and make so many great friends.

this camp changed my life...it is the most amazing way to spend a summer. there are countless numbers of activities to do at poko that cant be done at other camps. everyday, campers are able to go windsurfing, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, caonoeing, kayaking, sailing, play all sorts of sports, make arts and crafts and pottery, and learn all about the surrounding wildlife and history of the land. the couselors at poko are all extremely kind and caring and do anything and everything in order for their campers to have an unforgettable experience. i will never forget all of the wonderful, life-changing memories i have gotten at camp poko-mccready.
