Click to report rating    7/15/19   1     1     1     1     5   This is a review of the Towson Okinawa Y Camp. Please don't send your kid(s) to this camp. I pulled my young daughter out after 1.5 weeks. She just couldn't last anymore, and I, in good conscience couldn't, let her stay. It was too painful to drop her off each morning and watch her sob with nary a glance at her from any staff (and she wasn't the only kid I saw there sobbing--alone, with no comfort from any staff). Camp is supposed to be fun. If kids dread camp, the camp is no good, and you shouldn't be spending your money on it. There's nothing more to it. I had to eat the cost for the rest of the weeks that she missed because the YMCA doesn't offer reimbursement, but I didn't care Her relief at never having to go to this dump again was palpable, and we both felt so much better. Again, PLEASE don't send your kid(s) to this camp. It's a prime example of getting what you pay for. Kids should be excited for camp. They get one childhood and summer is a time to make happy memories. RID: 52740
Click to report rating    8/5/12   1     1     1     1     1   they play outside too much even though it's 100 degrees hot! they eat lunch outside in 100 degrees! my kids wanted me to pick them up early, as early as possible! That's how much they enjoyed the camp :( RID: 42235
Click to report rating    3/30/11   2     3     2     2     3   Y day camp... basically mildly supervised maddness. Kids have gone twice because it is cheap and easy, even though neither has really liked it. Each year there has been at least one event that went very badly. Superstars did not show or field trip was "lame". At this cost point, some of the boys seem to have issues- bullies and/or overbearing even though kids are broken into age groups. This many kids and few adults, someone is bound to get pushed, hit or kicked. Camp of last resort for those that don't plan or are on a budget. Lots of playmates and the kids are tired at the end of the day. RID: 35504
Click to report rating    4/15/08   4     4     5     4     5   The Y is getting their new addition soon so the old building and dusty back yard will be much improved for sure. My son says the counselors are great and my son loved it. He says Pizza Day is fun, too. Flexible drop off and pick up times - very good if the parents are working full time in the summer. Lots of "good kid" high school counselors. RID: 22308
