Click to report rating    5/8/13   5     5     5     5     5   I love this camp. It has been a part of me ever since I stepped on camp property almost 4 years ago. I have friends that I know will stay with me forever. I have really made connections to both campers and staff. All of the staff do their very best to help in every situation. It's true that your are almost always with a staff member, but they are never in your space or interfering. CTSs aren't that bad if you leave the lid closed. I have never done a barn program, but I have friends who have and loved it. I am a really bad swimmer, so I swam with some younger kids, but it wasn't in a bad way. A lot of the activities you participate in are group decisions, so if you end up with very different people, you have to choose whether to see it in a bad way or in a growth way. The food is reasonably good, and there tend to be choices. I have also learned a lot that I have applied other places, especially, self esteem. I also have a friend who is going for the first time this year (not Betsy Co RID: 44438

8/2/10   4     4     3     3     3   I went to this camp last year, when I was 13 and it was okay. It is good if you like traditional camp activities and like following your counselors around all day, which I didn't like. You also don't get to choose your activities, even though they claim you do. Arts and Crafts and horseback riding was fun, the staff were good. My counselors camp names were Puck, Dee-Dee, Hazel and Luby and they were all really nice. I liked this camp, but didn't like how you couldn't choose what you wanted to do. I would recommend Camp Betsey Cox instead, but this is more affordable.Check out the website: campbetseycox.com RID: 33590

Click to report rating    1/11/10   5     5     5     5     5   I love Camp! Sadly, I can't go this year...but I recommend it to everyone! I met my best friend at camp and we have been going to camp together ever since. I was mostly involved in the barn aspect of camp. All of the horses are wonderful and amazing. Camping at lakeside is the best time ever! Bob the camp cook is funny...and if you ever get homesick, your counselors are there for you. :)The facilities are nice, the cabins are always clean. Every activity is available, basketball, frisbee, kickball, theatre, adventure, and more! The counselors meet each of your needs. RID: 31872

Click to report rating    3/16/09   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is amazing!!! this summer will be my 12th summer both as a camper and as staff. This camp has become my second home, i have spent every summer here since i was seven. this camp has become apart of me and it has tought me so many things about my self. it is a great place to meet new people and reconect with old camp friends. There are so many learning opportunites and to try something new.You will leave camp singing songs, and telling stories all year long, i know i do!! Click to report rating    1/5/09   5     4     5     5     5   This camp is amazing. I have attended for three years and hope to be a counselor there someday. The first year I did a general camping session, the next year I did a "nighttime" one, and the next I did and adventure session. All three were spectacular! The staff are great, the activities are fun and engaging, and I meet so many new friends there! I'd say that was my favorite part of the experiences at Farnsworth. I recommend this camp to any girl who wants to try new things and make new friends. RID: 28425
Click to report rating    6/17/08   4     4     5     4     4   This camp was AMAZING! I loved it last year cuz I did vaulting. This year will be my 7th year in a row and my 1st going for 2 weeks, I am in saddle and bridle session 1. I can't wait! My favorite part was all the activities. The worst part of last year was that I had windigo which is near the road so cars would stop @ night, idk why, I was so freeked out! Swimming was ok, but boring. The food is great. Counselors actually care about you, and about having fun. I am so excited. The best part is meeting new friends and keeping in touch with them the rest of the year. It is so sad to leave. This year I am there on my b-day so I get to run around the tables, what a joy! Not. :( I just can't wait! I suggest you go there! RID: 23951

Click to report rating    11/2/07   4     4     5     4     5   I worked four years at Farnsworth and loved it. It is a real girl scout camp. We had a lot of traditions. Some of the old buildings are being torn down and I would like to see the powers that be save these by going to the National Historical Register. The best programs are waterfront and the arts programs. Keep up the good work. If you want a rustic camp and a lot of hiking go to Farnsworth. RID: 16685
Click to report rating    12/26/06   5     5     4     5     5   This camp was so cool! All the girls were really nice and the councilers were fun and understanding. Also, I made tons of friends and the campgrounds are really cool- we stayed in Treehouses, which were cabins on stilts, and had lots of cookouts. The food is also yummy!! The horses are amazing and the lake is really fun, too- really refreshing and cool, but not freezing. Overall, a wonderful camp and I'm definitly going back next summer! RID: 6301
Click to report rating    10/28/06   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is great for all girls. You can enjoy many, many different activities, and the staff is amazing. They have fun with you, while also teaching you many lesons. Cam Farnsworth Has amazing facilities, and it is in an amazing place. You get to enjoy your summer with people you have tons of fun with, and with a place that you can have tons of fun in. RID: 4380
Click to report rating    10/23/06   5     5     5     5     5   god i love it there. next year will be be my 8th year. every year i've been in the horse units and the barn staff along with the rest is just incredible. i usually cry when i leave. its my home and it brings me so much fun and so many memories. summer would never be the same without it. <3. it also brought me my pony who i fell in love with my second year there so i worked really hard and now i own him. it is probably my favorite place in this whole wide world and i wouldn't live if i couldnt go back for some reason. i strongly suggest sending your girls there... they will love it as much as anyone else who goes. RID: 4254
Click to report rating    9/10/06   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Farnsworth is pretty much what I live for. I have gone for 7 summers in a row and plan on attending for many more. The staff are an amazing group of enthusiastic, outgoing, diverse individuals that are like big sisters to everyone there. Camp Farnsworth has wonderful horse program with over 20 horses and very experienced barn staff. There is also a large variety of other programs offered inclucing boating trips, drama programs, and art programs. Girls are broken up into units from around 10 girls to 25 girls who stay in a group of tents or cabins with 3-4 girls oer tent or cabin. Units usually have around 3 full on counselors and a couselor who works in other parts of the camp like the waterfront and joiner (art building). This camp has brought thousands of amazing memories and I wish all girls could have the same exeperience. RID: 3062
Click to report rating    7/30/06   5     4     5     5     5   I loved Camp Farnsworth! The only thing I didn't like was swimming, even though I am a great swimmer, is because the bottom of the lake felt gross on your feet. Everything else was great, espically the campfires. One other thing that wasen't great was the bathrooms. They were just big holes with a seat over them. Sometimes it was scary to go to ths bathroom, because you didn't know if something was going to hit you in the butt. This has been one of my favorite camps for 3 years running. RID: 1679
Click to report rating    5/31/06   4     4     5     3     4   "where girls grow strong" traditional feel with wide variety of 2 week programs from carpentry to acting to horseback riding. international staff. good food. be sure to note whether you like being with older or younger kids. some bunks are better than others but its nice to be with 4 to a room or tent. a very "camp" feel.
