I went there for several summers. I really liked it. It's not the type of place you send a kid to where he can just screw around. The staff does an excellent job of getting kids to enjoy themselves while learning new skills and challenging themselves through trips and outdoor activities--a philosophy that is currently lacking in the age of video games and TV.

I am currently a college freshman, and I attended this camp as a camper for 6 years. I absolutely loved it. As soon I left the camp after my first summer, I knew I wanted to return for as long as I could.. Which I did, every other year there I stayed for the maximum allowed number of weeks (7 weeks each summer). The best memories of my childhood and adolescence come from my experiences at Wachusett. I also feel my time here helped make the the responsible and honest person I am today. The unique atmosphere that exists at Wachusett cannot be put into words. I cannot emphasize enough that my time at camp was the most fun I've ever had, along with providing me with many valuable experiences that I never, ever would have experienced in any other setting. There is a reason this camp is one of the oldest surviving summer camps in America, its fantastic. I will always remember and cherish my memories at camp. Please check this camp out, truly a magical place.

Your son will come home several years older, wiser, and more mature. An incredible staff gives the boys personalized attention that other camps simply cannot provide. I'm not sure if it's the directors, counselors, or general good-spirited camp community that molds the boys into kind hearted, responsible young men, but there seems to be no limit to the positive impact this camp can have on these boys. It is evident that friendships between campers and counselors last well beyond the summer, providing strong role models for the boys throughout the year. While many larger camps sell to parents the material products that contradict the very essence of camping, be it their new movie theater or go-karts, Wachusett offers the true American camp experience that will change the way your son treats those around him and forever impact the way he approaches the many opportunities that lay ahead.
