My daughter has gone to Camp Arcadia for the past 2 summers and LOVED it. Not having a screen for 2, 5, or 7 weeks (however long you choose to go) is so amazing for her, especially since she is now 13. She made great friends and loved the activities - most especially the overnight hiking trip. She enjoyed the counselors and the supportive environment. She came home happy and more confident. A magical place!

Camp Arcadia is a gem! I went there for 8 summers, from ages 8-16. I dreamed of sending a daughter that I might have one day. Fast forward to the summer of 2022, when I sent my 9 year old. She had a phenomenal experience and can't wait to return. As a first time sleep away parent, whose daughter has anxiety, I was nervous to say the least. But, I trusted in my love for Arcadia and the staff who I know well. My daughter loved it and the communication from camp was over the top. She was comfortable, cared for, built up confidence, learned new skills, made new friends... it was everything I hoped for her. We're blessed to be Arcadians!

Our three daughters, who are 10 years apart, went to this camp. Each of them are extremely different.; they all found a home at Camp Arcadia. They couldn’t wait to go back each summer. Our middle one went back as a counselor until she graduated college. The other two, returned each year until they aged out. It offers traditional camp activities and has a robust trip program that explores Maine. One of the biggest gifts it gave our daughters over the 17 years is being unplugged from screens for 7+ weeks each summer. The other bonuses for all three were life-long friendships, confidence, and competence in the outdoors. Camp Arcadia has been a touchstone throughout their lives.

My daughter had a horrible experience here! She gets along w everyone and is a happy, upbeat kid. I was getting cryptic bunk notes from her that she wanted to come home as she was concerned staff would read the notes. Finally I started getting snail mail saying she was sad and alone all the time, it wasn’t good for her mental health etc but still no concrete info. We then had our virtual family meeting and she was not herself at all. I called the camp to express concern and ask them to check on her. They took more than 24 hrs to text me to ask if we Could just talk the next day. It was only because I lost total confidence in the camp that I drove up to get her. And thank god I did! Understaffed, low energy camp. No one checked on her or had any idea what was going on. Girls would take her things and not give back. She doesn’t have a biased bone in her body but was told it was a gay conversion camp and had to hear vile vulgar sex comments all day. Hitting limit - all bad!

This is a traditional "old school" camp--in the best way possible. Leave your technology, leave your stress, go into the woods (a rustic setting), try new things and find out who you are. Build your character as a girl/young woman and make friends for life. This camp is 100 years old--they're doing something right!

I am about to enter my 6th summer at Camp Arcadia, and i couldn't be more excited! I have made amazing friends and learned so much here. I find myself doing and trying things I never dreamed I'd be able to! There is a wide variety of activities to choose from, and you find yourself busy for the whole day. It has many fun traditions, amazing songs, and a beautiful location. The staff is dedicated and loves the camp as much as the campers do, many have attended the camps themselves! Girls come back year after year, generation after generation, which really tells you what a wonderful place it is. Pleasant lake is gorgeous, and the cabins are rustic and outdoorsy without being gross or hard to live in. Many of the cabins have electricity. I am counting down the days until camp starts!!! LOVE THIS CAMP SO MUCH!

Absolutely THE BEST CAMP EVER! I love this camp with all my heart and all my soul. It encourages girls to become strong, independent women while getting in touch with nature. Yes, the cabins do not supply much electricity but this is good because then you aren't dependent on cell phones or computers to keep you busy - you have the outdoors and so many fun activities that are sporty and artsy. The food is actually really good. it may not be 5 star cooking, but it is very very good and the best camp food I have ever had, it is also better than most school food. The people are great, the activities are great, the staff is great, the food is great, the space is great as well! The camp is amazing. The cabins are great, all the buildings are safe, great, and fun to be in. The great, open, outdoor space is amazing. So are the indoor spaces. If you are looking for a great all girls camp - this is an AMAZING ONE!

I really had an awful time at this camp. the girls were very mean and the counselors were tyrants. Cabins were out dates and food was quite gross.

godd i love this place. I only went for four years because I didnt go last summer, instead i went to a performing arts intensive for the summer. If you want a real traditional camp experience but dont worry youll have the time of your life. Yea i had a couple problems but who doesnt. Youll meet so many great loving people who just want to help you grow and develop as a person. some of the kids i met theier were some of the nisest i ever met. man if everybody went to arcadia the world really would be a better place. its a place of no stress compared to my filled school year where you can try anything. best camp around!

THIS IS THE BEST PLACE EVER!! I have been going there for only two years and I love it more than anything!! The activities are awesome and the staff is the best!! Don't listen to any negative talk about this place!! It teaches girls to be stronger emotionally and phisically! TRUE BLUE FOREVER!

I came across this site randomly, and am here at work (shhh!) smiling from ear to ear as I read all the girls' comments. I went there for my entire childhood and be assured, every good word you read on this site is true (true blue!). If you're a girl thinking of going here, all I can tell you is that I PROMISE you, you will not be disappointed. I am 36 years old and keep in touch with my camp friends to this very day! Sailing, canoeing, horseback riding, hiking, dances, overnight hikes, laughing so hard after lights out you almost wet the bed! - it's all there just waiting for you. My first summer I was 10 years old and didn't know 1 soul! I even took the Arcadia bus up by myself (good move! you get to meet people on the bus). After about 2 days I felt like I had been there for 6 months - and had 4 new best friends. :)

This Camp Is the best Camp around. It has about 20 activities to do. Campers do 4 activities a day. Time at camp ranges from 1 week-7.5 weeks.

Camp Arcadia is the most wonderful place on earth...seriously. The staff care so much about the campers, the activities are fun, and Anne and Louise (the directors) take the time to learn campers' names, get to know them, etc. I went to Arcadia for 6 years and loved it.

camp arcadia made me who i am today. im going to my 5 year in june. i wouldnt go anywhere else during the summer. everyone i know knows i go there cuz its the only thing i talk about. and everypne who has ever gone ther has LOVED it with a passion. everyone there feels like a sister to me and i couldnt live without them. TRUE BLUE FOREVER <3

Camp Arcadia is the best thing that has ever happened to me! Adressing what previous reviewers said, camp likes to encourage girls to stay the whole summer because during the first and second sessions, girls make bonds similar to family bonds. I look upon my camp friends as sisters, even the girls younger and older than me. It is so hard to say goodbye to them after 4 or 3 weeks. The camp puts pressure on girls to stay the whole summer because the girls that already stay the whole summer want to spend the summer with their best friends. The camp encourages these friendships to develop; they can't develop as easily after only 3 weeks. I strongly encourage Camp Arcadia. It not only gives girls the best summers of there lives, but it also helps them to be more independent and helps them grow into wme. Plus, you'll make friends that will last you a lifetime!

I went to Arcadia for four years, each time for the three week session. The only thing I would warn people about is they put a lot of pressure on you to go the whole summer, and once you're a certain age if you're not going the whole summer, they don't let you come back (all they care about is making money off you). But it's a great camp, I had a great experience there.

This is the best camp I have ever been to. Every day is a new adventure. There is something for everyone at Arcadia. The counselors are so nice, the cabins are comfortable and cozy the activites are fun and every counselor works to make you the best you can be. It is a great price compared to what you get out if it. I can't believe how much this camp has changed my life. I've met so many new friends and tried so many new things. I love it at Arcadia and you will too!
