I was at Greene for many years as camper and staff member. Greene has grown a lot in recent years. There are a lot more campers than there used to be and also a lot more activities. Some campers may initially feel overwhelmed by how big camp is and how many people they are, so that is something to be aware of. However, bunk life and unit-centered programming help to create a home base for campers and smaller communities where everyone is known. The facilities are amazing, and opportunities to try lots of new activities abound. The senior administration care deeply about camp's mission and work year round to make sure camp's program lines up with its values. That is probably its greatest strength. While strong programming can make a summer fun in the moment, it is the commitment to camp community and values over time that make Greene of lasting value in the lives of those who spend time there.

The camp has recently recieved a ton of rennovations and all of the new facilities are gorgeous! They have a brand new sports complex with a hardword gym floor that is air conditioned, as well as several other places on this camp that has been rennovated. The cabins are by far the best for a camp in Texas, as any other camp you are lucky to get air conditioning!

The food was awful, the cabins/army baraks were dirty, the facilities were terrible at best, and there were bugs everywhere you looked. Ever heard of Bruceville, Texas? No? That should tell you all you need to know. But if it doesn't check the website. Wonder why they don't show pictures of any indoor facility? I'll tell you why: because they all suck! The "rec" center was just a nasty combonation of concrete and plywood (where the windows were broken). Every place in this camp had a strange scent. The dining hall smelt like feet, the "rec center" smelled like cancerous materials, and the cabins smelt like too many people stayed in them before you did. The pool had a snake in it. A cabin had a scorpion in it. Greene Family Camp offers "family weekend retreats." Let me give you this word of advice: if your family is too poor to afford a normal vacation, you are better off turning all the lights off in your house, and camping in the living room. It will be cleaner, safer, and more fun.

Greene Family Camp is such an amazing camp! The counselors and the kids who go there make everyone welcome, and it is truly one giant family! You make friends for life there, and share experiences that you can't experience anywhere else. The songleaders are amazing, the havdalah services are gorgeous, and when it is time to leave, you don't want to ever go home. I spend every day missing GFC and my Maccabiah team!

This camp is sooo much fun!!! I have made so many new friends here that will last a lifetime! My counselers were fantastic, and I cannot wait to go back next summer!!! There are so many activities to choose from, and every place is air conditioned! You should surely try this camp!
