as a scout i have been to many different camps run by many different companies and on various budgets from the upper echelon of the camping world to the dirt cheap and i can say without a bought that camping at heritage has been the best time i have ever had on a campout in the 10 years that i have camped there i have come to love it from the bottom of my heart and would spend every second i could up there the staff are always friendly and the activities are second to none all the facilities are adequate for the needs of the true camper and anyone who says otherwise is not fit to camp the attention given to the individual is not great but given that all the activities you do are on a group the attention gap is merited in closing i will say that the camp grounds at heritage are truly magical place a place where i learned a lot about what was truly important for the money you cant beat the grounds and activities offered at heritage

Camp seems to be mostly about making money and seeing how many people they can get through in a week.

Review is from 2013 Pros
1. Nice lake.
2. Generally friendly staff.
3. Good water at campsites.
4. Campsites well shaded
Cons
1. Camp facilities are old and inadequate
2. Lack of coffee at meals was a bad joke.
3. Lack of sanitation at meals was troublesome.
4. Communication among the camp staff was often poor as you would be told one thing by a staff member and another thing by another staff member.
5. No soap at our campsite latrine despite our multiple requests for some.
6. Merit badges were schedules for five days regardless of difficulty
7. Generally awful camp food
8. Harebrained tradition of making everyone stand up sing during middle of meals.
9. Scouts who did so should have been recognized individually at the closing ceremony. I finished the Iron Man and got recognized but the camp should really be about the scouts.
11. In general, the camp felt like it was being run on the cheap.

As a scout I went to Camp Freedom for 7 year. I can personally attest that there is no place like it anywhere and this place really does change lives. There is nothing I wouldn't do just to spend one more day at Camp Freedom. My troop has gone here for about 30 years and hopes to go back for 30 more.

I am a female venturer and the past 2 summers my friend and I went to heritage and the best time ever! We went hiking, waterskiing, rock climbing, fishing, bike riding and so much more. At first we thought it would be awkward being some of the only girls there but it actually turned out to be slot of fun. I am hoping to return next summer as a counselor!

I'm 44 now and was there for the opening season. Never in my life have I had such memories. I hope the BSA survives for my sons.

I LOVE heritage, it is well maintained by the staff and the scouts are great. I personally have worked there 3 years and have seen nothing but improvement! Its an amazing place for the boys and adults to go have fun and relax and get meritbadges.

I've camped and worked at Heritage and I think the opportunities for activities is HUGE, you would need to spend 3 weeks at Heritage just to do everything available. A camp with whitewater rafting, shotgun and COPE I imagine is difficult to come by.

The camp is too big and there is not enough attention given to the scouts by the staff.

I camped there one year and worked there for ten years at Camp Freedom and the Central Area. It's an extraordinary place that changes lives!

Camp freedom in Heritage Reservation is the greatest camp of the three. Go there and truly have a great time.

I really enjoy the camp. In fact, I work at the camp. The people there are great and so are the facilities. I realy love heritage and can't wait until I can start working up there this summer.
