Really underwhelming. The facilities and grounds are in poor shape. Fields have calf high grass and baseball field has multiple sewer covers throughout the infield. Sports equipment is broken. Camp looks like a rundown facility on it last legs. Facility goal is to run a leadership program for Jewish teens which is funded by having the teens serve as counselors in a day camp. Be honest with yourself as far as what you are looking for in a camp. Camp is really for kids for whom religious instruction is the most important aspect of life - it is religious school day camp. Vast majority of kids go to Jewish day schools (similarly, because Jewish education is as important as secular education). Most kids wear kippot (or other head covering). 1/3 to 1/2 of the camp day is spent on Israeli dancing, prayer or Torah instruction. My children were more interested in regular camp activities (i.e. sports, games) and shied away from participating in boring watered down sports.

Life-changing, absolutely wonderful, and an amazing experience (both for staff and campers).

It is my 7th summer there now, and I couldn't imagine my life without Ramah Nyack. It is my favorite place in the world. I hope to be on staff one day to help other campers have as magical an experience as I do.

This is my 8th summer. You really develop family and staff are really nice and supportive. Cons: Bad facilities (except for some) and mostly bad food. They have added new, awesome activities.

I thought my son will get some "Jewish education" there. He hated it. Activities are few, all is boring. a long commute, very expensive, bad food. We finally stopped sending him there. He is now having a great time in French Woods Festival. The camp I highly recommend.

boring activities, little choice. no music, no theater, except for Israeli dances, ceramics, woodwork and beading.I will not send my son there anymore. The morning dance under the hot sun to the same music every day-- is pointless. We sent our son to get a "Jewish feel". He hated it for 4 years. I am sorry, son.
