My daughter is currently at RLGC and, she absolutely LOVES it! It's her first time at sleep away camp and, naturally, was anxious. However, on day 1, she had already made friends and has already committed to going every summer until she's 15; she is now almost 13. I read previous posts about girls being rude and snobby; it's quite the opposite.

As a former camper who now sends their kids to Raquette Lake (one boy and one girl), I could not be more thankful that they are loving it as much as I did! The owners have kept so many of my favorite traditions alive even 30 years later, and every BunkNote we get from them is filled with stories of their summer joy. We toured a few camps in Maine and the Adirondacks before choosing, but Raquette Lake outshined them all - there's truly no camp like it. We can't wait to see our kids at Visiting Day this weekend!!!

We have two children at this camp and think it is worth every dime we spent to send them there. Our kids have been coming for years and I have never posted before, but had to this year. Their attention to details and keeping the camp safe during COVID has been remarkable. The activities are run by professionals in their field, making the instruction exceptional. Most importantly, they have traditions that guide the camp and campers to creating friendships that last far beyond the summer months.

I went here for two summers and it was the worst experience of my life. 15,000? for a summer camp where the food was so bad I lost 10 pounds my first summer and the buildings were falling apart?!! This place is a scam, the owner is not involved with it either, he just takes the profits and sits in his 5 million dollar home with his green lambo. In fact after two summers my family and I saw the owner on a beach and said hello, he didn't even remember my FIRST NAME. their are so many better camps than this. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

Our kids love it! They had the most wonderful summer ever. They can’t wait to go back next summer. The facilities are amazing and the amount of activities this camp offers is great! I absolutely recommend this camp to anybody that wants their kids to have the best summer ever! Trust me you wont regret it!

Last year was our daughters first year. We worried about sending them for a whole summer. Never ever have fears been allayed so quickly and permanently. They took to Raquette and their camp sisters and likewise their camp sisters to them, as though they had been there for years. The defining moment was when I observed all the girls on my visit. Three weeks after arriving in a group full of strangers for the summer, our older daughter had scored the lead in the camp musical and was happier than we could have even imagined. The support and encouragement I watched her camp sisters bestow brought tears to my eyes. I was literally watching lifelong friendships being forged. The daughters who returned to us at summer’s end were more thoughtful, adventurous and confident. The were in touch with their new friends all year but are giddy for their RLGC summer! As their parents, we take comfort in that there's no place we'd rather them be! The whole family is counting down to RLGC summer 18!

There is not enough space to say all about this amazing camp! My daughter has been there for 9 summers, she has made lasting memories and lifelong friends. The girls are kind, welcoming, and inclusive. The spirit and camaraderie at RLGC is infectious. My Son (3rd summer at RLBC) has learned crucial social skills, sportsmanship and has grown confident and independent. They both can not wait to get back to their "favorite place in the world." The facilities and staff are top notch. The minute you step onto either RAQUETTE LAKE GIRLS CAMP or RAQUETTE LAKE BOYS CAMP you feel the love that the owners, directors, staff and kids alike have for this very special place. GO VISIT, you'll be blown away!

I sent both of my boys to Raquette Lake last summer and the only thing they talk about now is going to back!!! Last year was the first year they both went for 7 weeks (8 and 10 years old). They loved their counselors, activities, all the staff, the owners and most of all...their new friends. They talk to their camp friends all year long and cannot wait to be reunited with them.The boys loved all of the sports, but mostly they loved the waterfront. They learned to water ski, sail, wakeboard, and so much more. When they came home after the summer they truly couldn't wait to show us their new skills. My older son also really enjoyed nature and art. he spent a lot of his free time in woodworking and Art and Crafts. My younger son spent a lot of time playing basketball and ping pong. Both boys loved the attention they got from the older boys at camp and felt very safe and taken care of. The boys also loved the food (which is amazing). The countdown is on to get back to camp!!!

My daughters will be returning for their fourth summer at Raquette Lake and my son will be heading there for his first. My daughters have returned every summer with the most exciting stories of the adventures they had, the things they learned and most importantly the incredible friendships they have made. As a parent, I am able to sleep at night knowing the staff from the Directors, division heads and bunk counselors are all as attentive and nurturing as can be. Every visiting day I am met with stories from a ropes course counselor or a dance instructor that show me how well the staff know my children. Every question or need we have ever had has been tended to quickly and thoughtfully. My daughters have learned so much about how to work as a team to accomplish goals, support their friends and just enjoy the summer and water activities by the gorgeous lake with their friends thanks to Raquette. I can't recommend RL, or it's incredible staff highly enough.

Any parent who can afford this camp and is not sending their kid their is making a mistake. No place i would rather be then back. Any one who tells you otherwise is incorrect. Nothing harder in life then coming back home.

The camp owner and director managed our son's homesickness poorly. He had a miserable time. Being new to the camp, the returnees were clique-ish. He came home underweight, anxious and angry. We were, too. The camp is only good for Bergen County kids who all go at once and are not the nice kids. The cabin was filthy. The kids are allowed to live in filth.

Review from someone who worked on as specialty staff- this camp is unbelievably sexist. Activities and facilities on the girls side are not even comparable to what is available on boys side, despite equal prices. Though this camp is incredibly expensive to send children to, the staff are grossly under compensated (think $25 for a week of work). If I were a parent, I would consider sending my son to the boys camp, but the girls camp is the last place I would want my daughter to be. Disappointing.

I do not normally leave reviews but I like to give credit when deserved.My children are returning for their 2nd and 3rd summer and from the second I stepped foot on both girls camp and boys camp I knew it was the one for us. My husband and I could not have made a better choice. Even my children appreciate the beauty. Raquette Lake is beyond words!

i love raquette lake. it is the best place on earth. i just finished my final summer at raquette after spending 7 there. i would give anything to go back to being a freshman. raquette is the best camp in the world. everything is so perfect. the girls the counselors and the head staff. kathi and eddie are such nice people i wish i could live at raquette forever. the group leaders are really what they say they are, summer moms. but they're not only summer moms, they're always there for you even when not at camp. supy 2012 forever and always. i'll never forget the times i've had at raquette lake. they are probably the most amazing moments i will ever experience. i can't wait to go back as a counselor. i love you supy 12. you'll always be my 24 sisters.

After spending my entire childhood at RL, I only have the best things to say about the camp. After visiting many other camps, the facilities at RL are top notch, but one of the most important takeaways were the traditions and friendships. I still keep in touch with all my camp friends and look forward to sending my daughters here!

This camp is the most incredible place on earth. The girls I've met at there are my best friends I've ever met. I could not imagine spending my summers any other way. The campers make really strong bonds with the counselors, the place and each other. From everywhere on camp you can see the lake and that is part of what makes it the most beautiful place in the world. Once you spend a summer at Raquette it will become your home.

I have the privilege of sending my children to this camp. I was up there for visiting day, and WOW it is by far the most beautiful camp I have ever seen. My children used to be at another camp, but the kids were way to spoiled for us. The uniform at this camp helps bring the children down to earth and the facilities and the lake might be the most beautiful place on the planet! I wish I could go back!

Honestly, this is one of the best camps I've ever heard of - I've been going since I was TWO, my mom worked there as a nurse. To tell the truth, I stayed on the boys side, but I was a girl. I couldn't leave my mom, & I only stayed until I was six, but my experiences there are the BEST of my life. The girls side has great facilities, too, but I just find that I liked staying with my mom. The staff? I don't know what these people are talking about. The staff there are WONDERFUL. The ones I know very well have their own kids, the boy's wood shop director lives in my neighbor & he's AWESOME. And, if you just bother to get to know the staff, there's no reason for all their favorites to be the "richies." And about prices & stuff, they need that money, DUH! Can you imagine the expenses for the great facilities they have? And they're supporting thousands of kids, so I think the price is completely reasonable. Sooooo sad I'm not going for the next couple of summers but RL 4ever!

A Mean Spirited Place. This is the sort of place where the older kids are given free rein to pick on the younger ones. It is a cruel environment with poorly trained and supervised staff who we found stole from the kids. The director is some sort of garmento type with no academic or child supervision background and it shows! The families are mostly what you would expect from tri-state obnoxious suburbia. The place rests on a lovely lake and it "shows well" but...BEWARE. Our happy go luck city kid boy was miserable here and switched to a place where he has had 5 consecutive wonderful memorable summers.

Raquette is AMAZING, if anyone tells you otherwise, do not listen. This summer is my 4th and I spend my whole year dreaming on and on about it. The staff is amazing, Katy and Eddie Lapidus get there staff from all over the world; Africa, Australia, Sweden, Canada, and campers from Venezuela and South America. I love this camp so very much and I HIGHLY recommend it. LOVE U RLGC!!

Everything about this camp is above average. One of the best camps in the world. Our rival is Point O Pines which is the spoiled kids camp but here at raquette we rough it. (Not that much). Our bunks are pretty nice. The younger kids ones (starting going into 2nd grade) are amazing and the new bunks are pretty nice too. The oldest girls bunks could use some work but were used to a old bunk. The facilities are prtty nice. The dining hall is being redone to make it bigger. It will be ready for the summer of 2008. The camp is also building a new indoor gym and work out center so there is more to do on a rainy day. The activites vary. You seem to take less active acitivites as you get older, but thats not bad for all people. The person attention goes along with the staff. If they like you they like you, if they dont do not except special treatment. The cams expensice almost 12,000 for the older girls and the unifrom does not help that price. But i love it and its my last summer. SUPY 2008

This camp is sooooo great. I have gone for 3 years and every min. has been great. Those comments that say the camp stink are soooo wrong. So we all get a little homesick, but the campis the best. Join me and my friends at Raquette soon. I miss camp soo much when I am at home and so everyone should give it a try. Just to warn the food is not sooo great but with the friend you will make it won't matter. I am a real Raquette Lake camper, and not one of the owners or a fake and I am telling everyone what they are missing not coming to camp here. Everyone should come and visit the camp during the summer and at least see it. It is right on the lake and you go swimming all of the time. The lake does get really cold but eventually you will get over it. The camp hold children ages seven to fifteen. This is a true opinion and I love raquette mote then anything in the world. The owners are hands on and very interested in "their kids". I was a camp doctor one year and saw the professionalism of the entire staff. My daughters are having the time of their lives. All sleep aways are around the same amount give or take. The prices for the clothing is a bit outrageous but I cant imagine what kind of clothes I would have to send them up with to compete. Love the camp.

This camp is so amazing! My daughter has been at this camp every summer since she was 7. She loves it so much, and it is a huge part of her life. I have no regets in sending her here, for i know she has made lifelong friendships. She spends the summers laughing and having fun with her camp friends, and spends the year counting down the days until she can come back. I dont know what she will do with herself when her final summer is over. Make no hesitation in sending you child to this wonderful camp. Not only are the ficilities great, but she wouldn't trade anything for the bonds that have been created between her and her friends.

I think they are building contractors, or something, as their main job during the year. IT SHOWS. They have zero knowledge about kids. IT IS ALL A BIT OF FLASH FOR CAMP TOURS FOR NEW PARENTS. They hurt people's feelings and care nothing about self-esteem -- except for a few favorites! AS far as they are concerned, everyone else should just pay them and then shut up! The staff are pretty cool, they do play favorites, but very few mostly in the younger bunks. The facilities could be nicer with all the money it cost to go there 9k. The activities are really cool but having theater as a class where they teach u how to sit i mean get a life. The personal attention is very good. The consulars are always willing to talk with u. The group heads are strict, and one is really mean (u should know who), The monetary value is decent, the food is good and there is always fruit (not the best but there). But the infirmy is one of the wrost i thing there is out there, the nurses are pretty mean enless u are cute and adorable, and one of the doctors is an idiot, i dont think she (she has daughter and sons) I love this camp

very nice waterfront area, but directors are lying lunatics.. they are disrespectful and too old to understand what the children want in a camp director.. even though the camp itself isnt japy, the girls are ****es! if you dont have the newest diamond bracelet, or the newest 600 prada sneakers, or even the newest juicy couture pjs or prada baithing suit, they wont like you! the girls talk about you behind your back when you feel accepted, and are rude and only want you for what you have. I remember on visiting day, a girl had her parents come in a helicopter, and the girls are just mean! i dont care how cool you are.. i had many friends there.. but everyone who wasnt fake and i was friends with.. they all hated it and all my friends and i didnt go back because the girls are ****es!! seriously.. the girls are complete losers who have nothing going for them except they have money and only like people who can match their money!! ugh (i dont care how rich you are.. its not worth it!)

Raquette Lake is the most amazing times in your life and here is why and why not. Most of the Staff is amazing yeah some just hate camp as soon as u get there but the rest are so amazing and their trying to make ur summer the best ever. The facilities are ok We have an amazing gym and water front thought so it equalls out and boys have the hightest rock wall in the country and a high rope course. The activetes are decent and when it rains we just chill in the older age and younger plays bingo or gym. A ton of personal attention for you. Ever one knows u by ame i know ever other 299 camper and their are 300 of us. I know ever consulars name and they know mine. I know ever i should a bout them and vice versa. The vaule is the same in ever other well know camp and this camp takes very wealthy kids so it is far to them. They could make the bunks nicer thought alot nicer. This camp is so amazing I typed almost getting closer 1000 character or letters!!!

My kids had nightmare summers. NEVER AGAIN. THis place is an insane, confusing mess -- no one knows what they are doing!?! Things are constantly changing or being canceled. Do they train the staff? Doesn't seem like it. And, what is with the cement around the lake? A horror story.

The required uniform for this camp includes logo'd swimsuits, twice as many t-shirts, shorts, sweatpants, and sweatshirts as are acually needed, and a logo'd blanket (which every girl has, causing the cabins to look so uniform that you could mistake it for a military camp!) The grand total for the required uniform items, NOT INCLUDING ADDITIONAL NEEDED ITEMS, is over ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS! Consider the additional cost of the uniform before choosing this camp for your daughter. I beleive that camp uniforms are a great idea, but this camp takes it a little too far!

Not a fun place at all. Very disorganized and staff drink every night. Directors lie to you to get you to go there. Nice boats though.
