Click to report rating    8/28/12   2     2     1     1     1   The packet made it out to sound like a very structured camp to Help teach self discipline, leadership, honor, respect, and help to motivate my 13 yr old son. Well after 6 week and a lot of money. He was no different when he came home. Very disapointed in the experience. He wasn't even encouraged to meet his goals. The campers must either have too much free time or are not properly supervised, if they are able to bully other campers. RID: 42531

8/9/12   5     5     5     5     5   The staff was professional and caring. The facilities were rustic, as befits a summer camp, and clean and well-maintained. The activities were educational, disciplined, and fun (in no particular order), as befits a militray summer camp. The cost was reasonable for a six week full-time camp. My son learned important lessons about discipline and order which are always useful to an adolescent. I would recommend the Howe Military Summer Camp fully, unconditionally, and enthusiastically to anyone who asked my opinion. RID: 42295

Click to report rating    7/31/12   5     4     5     4     4   No question, this was a serious expense for us. But we sent our son for the whole six weeks. I cannot say emphatically enough how extraordinary this experience was for him. We sent a rather immature, unmotivated boy to camp, and we got back an accomplished, far more self-assured young man. The boy who went was terrified of swimming and scared of horses. By the second week, he wanted a face mask so he could hang out with the scuba divers, and asked us if he could take equestrian in the second session. He rappelled down 70 foot towers and made life-long friends. Yes, he wants to go back to camp. He even wants to go to school there. Kudos for all the staff who made such a change in my darling boy. Click to report rating    7/30/12   5     5     5     5     5   I sent both of my sons to Howe. I am a single mom and they were growing up and becoming defiant and disrespectful. Howe added the structure and positive male role models that both of my sons needed. I observed an immediate improvement in their behavior. I will send them to Howe again next summer. Raising good, well behaved, respectful men as a single mother is probably the single most important thing I will ever do. Howe helped my boys realize that the world doesn't revolve around them, but rather they are participants in their own lives, and the lives of others. It helped them to see the "man". In human. I would recommend Howe to anyone who asked. RID: 42164

Click to report rating    7/30/12   4     5     4     4     5   Our son had an excellent experience at camp (2012). The facility, along the lake, is the best. If possible, we will enroll him again next summer. RID: 42155
Click to report rating    7/30/08   1     1     1     1     1   They promote this camp as sort of a structured character-building leadership skills experience. In fact, it's more like boot camp. They're mean to the boys, many of the boys are sent there because they've been in trouble with drugs or the police. My son was frequently harassed by boys with anger issues. It isn't what they say it is. RID: 25274
