Literally the best. The camp may not have a pool and our river bathing may be weird to those who haven't been but I assure you the water is so clean. The Buffs and the Greens are the two team which compete against each other but we are always sister teams and you learn to become a good sport. Camp Mont Shenandoah teaches you so much and you won't regret it!

I was a long time camper here and my nieces and the children of many friends have attended. It is a beautiful location with well maintained buildings and grounds (the bath houses leave a little to be desired, though, but I have heard that they plan to improve these.) There are many activities to choose from and the counseling staff, most of whom are former campers, is well trained and really care about the campers, their well-being and safety. Private summer camps are expensive and CMS is no exception but it's in the ball park cost-wise as other, comparable camps in the region. And it's definitely cheaper than many camps to the north! Excellent horseback riding program. I am told by my nieces that the food is excellent. There's a reason that the camp can boast an average 85% return rate of campers year after year. I highly recommend it!

Small spaces for the $. They pack too many girls into one cabin and their trunks are practically on top one another. Dirty and mess because there is no space. No pool. Too few showers that the girl will bathe in the river.

I attended Camp Mont Shenandoah along with my sister and now my two girls attend CMS as well. It is an amazing place. My girls have learned so much from being there. They learn kindness, resilience, independence and some pretty cool camping skills. Yes, they bathe in a river (there are showers as well) but this is part of the glory of camp and connecting with the outdoors. I love this place and we scrimp and save to send our daughters each year because it is so worth it to us.

I was told the girls did NOT have the option for a regular shower and could only bathe in the river. I found this disturbing.

There was a lice outbreak and we weren't told until a week after my child was home. They let the children charge at the store, even after parents send in $100 credit. (So that means your child can spend over $100.) The kids can choose river baths or shower baths, so this means your kid could bath in a river for three weeks.

Awesome camp--I spent 7 summers of my life there and wish I could spend the rest! Fun activities (for every interest--arts, music, sports), great learning environment, encourage positive behavior. Fosters great friendships and a friendly competitive atmosphere.
