Click to report rating    2/9/15   4     2     2     1     1   Our troop has been to CCV a few times, the last was in 2014. It has declined quite a bit from when it was a jewel of a camp. We had many issues. Although our troop is large, we were forced to share a campsite with another troop as the camp was way too crowded. There were so many people that the waterfront was extremely crowded at all times. It was difficult to get canoes, kayaks, SUPs etc due to the number of people. Scouts that took rowing mostly watched from shore as there were not enough boats. Two out of the three Hobie cats were broken -- one had been broken since our prior visit -- so Hobie outings were minimal. Classes at the nature center could not fit in the nature center. The Trail to First Class program was very weak -- some of our scouts had things checked off that they had not actually worked on. There was sometimes "no seconds" at the meals which meant some guys left hungry, and the food was not as good as on prior visits. I can't recommend this costly camp any longer. RID: 48390

1/25/14   3     3     3     1     3   I have hot been to this camp before and I was applying for a staff job and I did every thing I was supposed too I sent in my application and everything like that and a few weeks go by and I email the camp directed asking if he got my application two weeks later he responds yes and he say we start are application process later In the year and I was fine with that but later in the year comes and I am out of state so I call up the office so I can get a Skype interview or over the phone they never called me back and then I emailed him a a week ago and I have not heard anything back yet and I believe there just ignoring me and not giving me the job so if you want to get a job at this camp hope you live close to where they can't just ignore you and the assistant Sonia will not answer or return your calls the reason I put threes for every thing else is I don't know if it is a good camp or not never been there but I would like to. Click to report rating    9/17/12   5     5     5     5     4   Have been to camp 5 times and we have to travel over 400 miles to go. It is always worth it and I have never been disapointed. RID: 42699
Click to report rating    1/24/11   5     5     5     5     4   This camp tends to be a little on the expensive side. You must reserve your troop's spot more than a year in advance. This being said, you, your leaders and your boys will never want to go anywhere else after they have gone to CCV. The program is top notch and was created by world famous scouter Delose Conner. The waterfront is to die for and the best weather you could ever dream of. The staff, the staff, the staff!!! Above all else, the staff is the best anywhere. They will be with you to help you, guide you and befriend your boys from the moment you get off the boat. They will sing, dance and inspire your boys to be better scouts and citizens of this great country. This camp ranks 5 out of 5 stars in my book. Guarantee, you will not regret joining the Tribe of Torqua. RID: 34919
Click to report rating    9/7/08   5     4     5     5     5   this is the best scout camp I've ever been to. The staff is attentive and reasonable, the scouts stay busy and have a blast on Catalina Island. RID: 26388
