Great staff in "office" area, director attentive and pleasant, facilities beautiful, counselor awful. No enthusiasm, no hello's when my 4 year old arrived at camp, solemn faces (not all but several). General disinterest in campers. Specifically Deanna, whom my child describes as " mean and impatient". Chaise was "really kind and never yelled".

My kids have been at Camp Watchaug for 3 years and totally LOVE it. This is the best camp I have ever seen.

I went to this camp from ages 5-8, so it was a while ago, and it may have improved since them. However, i remember disliking the camp, particularly my last year. I remember the campers being mean, the counselors being inattentive and careless, and just sitting around a lot of the time instead of doing activities. The sailing program was really bad, and activities like archery, arts and crafts, etc. weren't very fun either. Now there is a good chance it has improved since then, but I remember it not being so great. It wasnt terrible, and I definitely had fun the first couple years. I think sleep away camp is a much better experience though. Since I stopped going to Watchuag, I have been at Camp Fuller which is amazing for me, my home away from home and where all of my closest friends are. It is truly an amazing place, I have gone 7 years, and definitely recommend it.
