My daughter has been a camper, CIT and counselor over the last 8 years. She has loved every summer and has met lifelong friends because of the connections made possible by Camp Frontier. My son is now in his second year, and can't wait to go back again next summer. I would highly recommend this camp, even in the Florida heat.

As a previous counselor at this camp, I can personally tell you that this is the best camp out there. Last year was my first year there and I loved every second of it. The kids were kept under constant supervision and aloud to have as much fun as they could possibly have. Every time it was time for them to go, they would cry and hug all of their friends and my co-counselors (sorry parents, this takes a good 30 minutes sometimes!). Dont believe all of these other bad reviews on here, there is no time limit on showers (we tell them to try to be reasonable since there are so many kids), and the kids are kept under a very close watch at all times. This camp is worth every penny and a ton of fun, for campers, CITs, and even prospective counselors. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Camp Frontier is much more than a camp, but a family! Brain & Diane Collar are amazing Camp Directors. The first thing Brian says each summer is "Welcome Home". This will be Allie's 5th year and she gets "Camp Withdrawals" that lasts for weeks when she has to come back home! Allie has made lifelong friends and the campers socialize and keep in touch all winter! The many activities certainly keep them busy and they are a lot of fun! Horsebacking riding/lessons (trails, not within a femced area), paintball, skatepark, drama, waterfront activities (swimming, canoeing, sailing, fishing, even a waterpark). The field trips are amazing! They go to Disney, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Sea World, and BBQ's on the Beach! It keeps getting better! I love hearing her stories about her summer adventures and seeing how important Camp Frontier is in her life! Every chance I get, I sing the praises of Camp Frontier and so grateful for their impact of my daughter! HIGHLY RECOMMEND CAMP FRONTIER!

Camp Frontier is a wonderful summer camp. Our daughter has grown up with this camp, attending every year since the age of 7 and attending this summer as well at the age of 14. The owners, Brian and Dianne Collar work extremely hard at providing a fun & caring environment making sure each child has a fantastic summer camp experience. Some of Our daughters favorites are the challenge course, arts & crafts, and swimming. Our daughter has gotten a chance to enjoy the beach cookouts, Disney World, Universal Studios, and Islands of Adventure on the sessions that she has attended. At the end of her two week stay, she is never ready to leave, always wanting to stay and enjoy the camp some more because of all the fun that she has there and friends she makes. I can’t say enough good things about this camp, other than we have had an amazing experience and would definitely recommend Camp Frontier to anyone.

I have 2 boys and 2013 will be their 4th summer at Camp Frontier and they love it! An added value is the bus transports the kids from 3 pickup/drop off locations in Riverview and this is a hugh time savings for me since I work in Tampa.

Awesome Camp. This will be my son's 3rd year. The staff is very friendly, caring and take great care of the campers. Every time we go to pickup our son after his session he is very sad he is leaving.

I have gone to this camp personally for the last six years. Two as a Camper, two as a Counselor in Training, and two as an employee. The facilities at this camp are somewhat dated and worn down, but still perfectly functional. The owners are a loving pair that put in untold amounts of effort to give all children the best summer possible and they succeed far far more frequently than naught. The staff they hire fluctuates from year to year but they're top priority is caring and knowledgable individuals who want to have an impact in the lives of the children that come. The variety of activities provide for the children is phenomenal and carefully planned. While this camp isn't perfect, it sure is an incredible way for a kid to spend the summer, and I personally believe it is worth every penny.

Please avoid this camp! As a previous camp counselor, I know the absurd things that occur throughout the summer. The staff is trained to babysit while "teaching" activities they know nothing about. The prices are ridiculous and staff is paid horribly, if paid at all. The camp is continuously in debt and would do well to shut down. Please do not send your children to this camp. The campers are given a maximum of 1 minute to take a shower and there is no where to change except bathroom stalls. The counselors in training (CIT's) are glorified babysitters who are more interested in the other CIT's than the campers. I would never send my child to this camp knowing what I know. Please take my advise. It is not what you think it is. I could write pages full of the stuff that happens at this camp that is unacceptable.

Just maybe before anyone gets a job here they should make sure the previous counselors were paid. My niece had a job there last year and her it is May 1, 2012 and she hasn't been paid yet. I think they are a bunch of crooks running this place.

My daughter went last year for 2 weeks of sleepover camp for the first time here at CF. While she had a bumpy start (girls usually have issues with the friend thing at the beginning), she had a great time. When we were driving home she asked if she could go for 3 weeks next time. Needless to say, she leaves on 24 June this year for 3 weeks of FL outdoor fun. Oh yes - she is very excited about the new air conditioning in the cabins!

My son just came home early from Camp Frontier. We went to the parent visit and he cried to come home (and he rarely cries). This was very surprising because he is the first to make friends. The staff there were very understanding and accommodating. He attended on a scholarship which I thought was so wonderful of the owners to offer us. My only concern was the bullying and my son said it was SOOOOOOO hot in the cabins. I really think they should invest in some window units for the cabins. It is Florida and living here all my life I know the summers here are horribly hot. My son said he was bored most of the time and the heat made it 10 times worse. Again, the staff was so nice and I will always appreciate them giving us a helping hand; however, if you chose to come to this camp be sure to remember how hot it is here in Florida.

My 2 children had a blast at this camp. Everyone was very caring and my son loved the horses. The husband and wife directors are personable and efficient and really try to make it a great environment for all. They are quick to handle any children with problems. The camp fire time was great and the field trips were awesome. I only wish the cabins were air conditioned as it does get hot in Florida.

The camp staff did not protect my son from bullying by other boys in his cabin. As a result he suffered sleep deprivation and anxiety attacks. He was 12 years old and housed with the 13 and 14 year old boys, a few of them harrassed him daily. The staff and director just call it "homesickness". But after several months of therapy the doctor calls it disturbing and indifferent response to a child in distress. As a result of this neglect for my child safety and dismissive response from the Camp Director I would not recommend this camp. Also, keep in mind that they do not allow your child to contact you except by postal mail so I was out of the loop about this for several days while my son suffered and the adults in charge did not protect him.
