Click to report rating    2/21/16   5     5     5     5     5   This year it will be my 5th year in a row to go here. I love this place and i am definitely going back to be a CIT, JC, and a counselor. I understand that some counselors can be mean, but every single counselor i have had, has been EXTREAMLY nice to me and my fellow camp mates. Yes, the bathrooms may not be like home cause they can CLOG EASILY, but you get used to them and they are WAY better than biffies. I may be biased cause i have been to this Camp before... RID: 49437

Click to report rating    1/8/15   3     1     1     3     1   I went here for a week and i'm never ever going back. The bathrooms were horrible. The staff was snarky and rude to me, the activities were geared towards little kids, i only got attention if i was upset and the counselors thought they would get in trouble and no it was not worth my parent's money to spend $425 for me to get picked on for a week, by other campers and then have counselors ignore it. Click to report rating    10/29/14   5     5     5     5     5   I worked at Camp Winona this past summer and to say the least it was the best summer I have ever had. If you are looking to work at Winona here are a few tips for making it a worth while experience- 1. During staff training keep an open mind and try to make friends with everyone (these are your colleagues and you will be spending all summer with them) 2. Enjoy staff training as best you can (the information you are learning is very important) 3. Attitudes are contagious! I cannot put enough emphasis on this point. You are going to have a terrible summer if you don't learn to see the positives in every situation - I PROMISE 4. My fourth and final point has to do with your relationship with the campers… You are there for THEM! If they aren't having an amazing time you aren't doing your job right. Yes, I know that seems overwhelming and petty to put that on you, but it's the truth. If you keep a positive attitude and don't sweat the small stuff it will be easy to do your job. :) RID: 48114

Click to report rating    10/18/13   5     5     5     5     5   I have been to this camp for four years. I have loved every year I have been there. The staff are great and I love the activities. I cant imagine going to any other camp in the summer. Winona is my home and I want to work there one day. RID: 46146
Click to report rating    6/23/13   5     5     5     3     5   I had been here two times before, and it was awesome!!! I liked the new counselors and the old ones. Personally I liked water activities. Facilities are nice, seem new. overall I highly recommend this camp. RID: 44864
Click to report rating    5/25/11   1     3     4     3     3   I worked here a few years ago and will never do so again. The director of this camp, Jen, is an awful person and made ALL of our lives miserable. She's vindictive, manipulative, and will pit people against each other. Her self-described "princess" assistant is no better. The food is horrible, they get it from a bad company and not even the director's eat it...they made trips into town for fast food all the time and laughed at us. I remember the worst situation happened during clean-up. We were all fed up by them, even some admin members. The only two places in the camp with air conditioning were our staff lounge and the director's lounge. We ended up having a heat wave above 100 degrees and were told we could no longer use our lounge and we were not alloweed in the director's lounge. We had to stay in the hot cabins and fry. I was lucky enough to have been scheduled to leave early, so I did not see the outcome, but I know there was a pretty big complaint. Don't work here. RID: 35958
Click to report rating    11/24/08   4     3     3     3     4   The regular Staff great, ad staff not so much. The facilities are new for the most part and are o.k., all flush toilets so thats pretty cool. Personal attention not the best about the same as about any camp probably but as you can guess I wasnt one of the favorites so i say it wasn't great. Monetary value was o.k. but you don't get your reimbursement for travel until the very end of the season and some people didn't get the full amount I don't think. RID: 27668
