Our 6 & 8 year old kids attended this camp for the first time last summer. We chose to send our kids to this camp because of their supposedly zero-tolerance on bullying. Well, within 3 days, we received a phonecall from the owner Patti Nashman - our son had been in an altercation with 3 other boys; seems like the other boys were teasing our son because he has two dads. I can only assume that the other parents were called as well, but I am not certain. We then received another 2 phone calls for the same reason. When I questioned about the zero tolerance on bullying, as this clearly was, the subject was changed. Both kids liked the camp in the end, but I am extremely disappointed with their lip service regarding bullying. We are trying a different camp for the upcoming summer.

This camp is amazing! All the people saying bad things from their school trips seriously need to reconsider, because I know that school trips to camps are never as amazing as actually going to the camp in the summer. The people here are amazing and the five summers i spent here have been incredible. The counsellors are young and many were campers themselves which doesn't make them bad it actually makes them better because they're more like your friends, but still responsible. It's fun to be at camp because while there are still rules you're sort of more free to do what you want and have fun in a free environment. The activities are fine but mostly it's the friends i've made that make me keep coming back to camp because they're like my family and i love everyone in my unit, in my cabin, the other girl's cabin and both of the boys cabins. The food isn't great but the amazing people make up for it. Overall this camp is like my home and I love it so much.

My child found the cabins very gross and complained about leaks getting their bedding wet. Apparently there was a massive spider problem and my daughter had many nasty bites, possibly from bedbugs which wouldn't be surprising with how gross the cabin was. The staff were nice to her though, but the disrepair of the camp and neglect of the cabin makes me not interested in not sending her back. Plenty of other camps to look at. Thanks.

There is a striking divide among staff. About a third of the staff have stayed on from "core" where they worked with school groups for a month or so. For the most part, they are extremely hard workers who love working with children. The rest of the staff are former campers, a great majority of whom are only interested in continuing their camp experience (sunbathing, dating and gossiping) and are not terribly concerned with your children. This is why you will rarely see a summer staff as a counselor to the younger campers- they are not responsible. The major problem is that the directors cannot fire negligent staff because there is so much more money to be made from their younger siblings. Another reviewer hit the nail on the head with the elitist culture of this camp. There are so many amazing camps- I would keep looking.

I have been sending my 3 children to Camp Wahanowin for 4 years now. Every summer they have had a fantastic time! The camp staff are friendly and have taken great care of our children. The facilities are state-of-the-art. For example, the camp even has a Trampeze program, an on-site golf course, a zip line, lots of tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, and all of the water sports you can imagine. My kids love the food, especially the pizza bagels, Friday night dinner, and the night time snacks. I would highly recommend this camp.

Our daughter loved her summer at Camp Wahanowin. She swam, played and discovered skills we never knew she had. The staff were amazing. She talked about them as caring and full of energy. She wants to go back again this summer and she will be going back.

My child attended this camp for many years. This camp is poorly run, and extremely overpriced. My advice...research. There are better facilities.

it sadens me 2 read all these negative reviews on a place I once called home. I spent 8 of my best summer years at Waha, BB's all the way up 2 LTP & loved every minute of it. I have not been there in 9 years but it is crazy to think the place has changed so much for the worse. When I went there, the food was amazing, the activities were exciting & I made some of my best friends there. The beds do not look very comfortable but I remember having some of the best sleeps of my life there & the graffiti in the cabins I sort of liked, I know my name is up there. The only thing I have to agree with in some of the comments that I read are the people and staff. If U go to this camp from the age of 7 or 8 chances are U will make a lot of friends & will go back for many many years. If U come later on like Seniors or Grads U will be considered the outsiders, not welcomed and pretty much ignored. But I know a lot of ppl who felt right at home and some of them came from places in the U.S. I miss Wah

The people at this camp are just plain not nice. The staff are abusive to living creatures (the stepped on a fish) everone is really snobby and ignore you if your new. They make fun of your nationality if you are not from canada. The only thing good about this camp are the directors, they make you feel at home. Im usually not the person to complain but the cabins were disgusting, same with the KITCHEN utensills, i found a spiderweb in my cup. The facillities are just nasty. The bunks were uncomfortable and nasty, with graffiti. It is a place were someome will actually die. I recommend going to Manitou ON, CANADA. It is a great camp. Fun. You choose your own activitys and at Wahanowin they make you do activitys you are not comfortable with doing. Overall its a terrible camp.

this camp was the GROSSEST experience of my life. i went with my school for three days and i was so glad i didnt have to go for more. the food tasted like processed crap and the buildings were disgusting. the whole camp was rundown. my bunk broke on the first night so i had to sleep in the disgusting spiderfilled back room with my bunkmate and read the appalling graffiti. i didnt get to choose any activities and the ones i was forced to do sucked. the staff was ignorant and not funny. the campers who go here are defending the grossest piece of crap i have ever seen. i hated everything except for ditching activities with my friends. to sum things up: ew

The summer staff are a bunch of irresponsible, elitist, arrogant past campers who don't care about the current campers. The staff from the spring that stayed on seemed responsible and nice though. The facilities are falling apart, they are disgusting. No amount of cleaning can help that place and there are health hazards everywhere including broken floors and unsanitary beds. The activities are ok except a lot of the equipment is broken or needs fixing. The food is a dietitians nightmare, totally lacking in calcium, protein and variety. They seem to think this can be fixed with copious amounts of sugar. This camp has problems right through to it's very core... and anyone who says they love it is guaranteed to be part of the elitist, superficial group that creates and encourages the terrible experience provided for others.

I only attend through NMC, but the Waha-related part is the worst. Staff are rude and inconsiderate, the directors have no concern for their staff/campers. The facilities are falling apart in many cases and the bathrooms are completely unsanitary. Their idea of food is abominable, and they have no concern for food allergies. As someone who teaches archery at another location, I went to their range to check it out and was appalled. There were no safety standards put in place and the equipment was shoddy. The staff were not teaching kids and I ended up having to step in...as a camper. On Thursdays, staff members are permitted to go into town and get inebriated, and the campers know about it. This is unacceptable when they are taking care of children. Lastly, I entered a cabin in which graffiti was written about trippers and the sexual acts they performed throughout the summer. The writings included information on campers. Do you want your children at sex camp? Bruce and Pete, work on it.

This camp is the best part of my life. I've been going here since i was 8 and now I'm 13. The kids are extremely jappy though. The food is good but sometimes they run out. The cabins are very nice and recently renivated. The staff are friendly and have a wide variety of activities. I would reccomend to have a friend for your first year at any camp

It was pretty sweet. The councilors were pretty cool and we had some random stuff to do here and there. They actually do the big events pretty well. MY fondest memory was the talent show. But all in all I think camp is less of what you do but who you do it with. The two years I went I met alot of cool people and my cabin councilors were pretty hip. Plus we got a big cabin. Cabin 32, whoo!!

The staff was really nice. Althought our cabin appeared to be an old portable and had holes in the floor and windows. My favourite activity would had to have been the radio station/booth [that was really cool] and tennis. The food was okay. Liked that salad alot but other then that nothing to amazing to say about it. When the staff had little get togethers with our cabins and such it was pretty fun. They did a rendition of Grease when I went.

Food making you wanna be anorexic is understandible to a certain extent (that's if we're talking about after-camp). The food is so tasty and succulent, that you'd pretty much gain a pound a day. When you'd get home you'd wanna be on a huge diet afterwards. I've only worked at this camp in the spring time, but it's still Wahanowin, with the same food and many of the same programs, and of course the same supervisors (plus a few of the staff). GOOD TIMES FOR SURE!!!

Camp Wahanowin has to be the best camp I've ever been to. Though the facilities are not 5 star, camp is not supposed to be a resort. I find the staff there excellent-they are extremely friendly, kind and alot of fun. As well, the campers that you are in your cabin and in your unit are great. I can't think of any other place I'd rather spend my summers then my home away from home - Camp Wahanowin.

I thought the counselers and nurses were extremely nice. I had a leg infection, and they made sure that I got my med 4 times a day for the week. They were really nice, and if something was wrong they'd help us out. The cabin was clean, and the bathroom was.....pretty bad. The food was GROSS! There was sal bugs in the rice, and they make juice in a garbage can. My stuff got lost, but they gave me other stuff, and found mine. It was really fun! Everyone is super nice, and I'm not a huge camp fan, but 'd defentaly go back!
