This is the first year I signed my 14 year old daughter up for the iD Tech camp at SMU for Web Design and Flash Animation. She loves anything to do with the computer so we thought this would be a camp that she would both enjoy and learn some valuable skills she could build upon as she enters high school. I wanted her to have a taste of “college life” so we signed her up to stay overnight in the dorm for the week. This camp far exceeded all our expectations. The level of instruction was amazing…the instructors are extremely knowledgeable in the various subjects and they challenge the kids in a fun way promoting inventiveness and creativity. The extracurricular activities at night were well supervised and all the kids participated. The counselors did an excellent job of mixing up the various night time activities to keep the interest of all the campers. She enjoyed the camp so much, she can’t wait to attend again next year! It was truly a wonderful experience for her all around!

My summers used to consist of sitting at home and playing games but now I get payed to teach them! This was my second year with ID Tech. I was iffy about returning in fears that the 2nd year couldn't possibly repeat how great the first year of working at ID tech but boy was I wrong. About half of the previous summer instructors had returned which was a huge bonus, but what really makes the summer is a great set of students every week. Granted, I teach game modding and game design with Warcraft and Unreal so my days are jam packed with games that I love. I only have two complaints about last summer: My first complaint is that the SMU people that booked our rooms had us switching rooms nearly every week so we were constantly correcting them to stay in our rooms. Secondly, our awesome camp director was unaware we had a large surplus of camp budget so we spent less money on making special days or fun events during the weeks to change things up and have that extra fun. Overall 9/10.

As a third year iD instructor and regular school year teacher, I have seen some amazing things happen at iD-SMU. We have created an atmosphere where all students, regardless of their normal social inclinations, come together to interact and play in a positive, well controlled environment. The instructors are phenomenal, in both their knowledge of their subject and in their ability to bond with their students. Small class sizes ensure that each student gets plenty of help with their projects, and has many real-world role models for teach-savvy students. Unfortunately, during the hotter days of the summer we are unable to take the kids outside to play, so the facilities take a hit there, but the actual lab room work very well. The food is somewhat sub-par, unless you don't mind pizza for every meal. Yet, in sum, there is simply no other camp where students will gain this much applicable tech knowledge and have as much fun as we do at iD Tech @ SMU.
