I have been camping at Wanoocksett with my troop for about 10 years. In the beginning it was awesome, over the years, the dining hall has become overcrowded with the addition of more campsites (more money ?) and the food rationed to the point we had to import our own for the first 3 days. After complaining each morning at the scoutmaster's meeting about the lack of enough food the rations were increased for the second half of the week. The staff is awesome but the program suffers in that they push you out of the dining hall as fast as they can due to the overcrowding because it gets too hot in there. The facility sports a public road through its center and the lake is public (shared with a girl's camp up the road) and areas are restricted.

i was a camper for three years and a staff for two. it was the greatest experience of my life as well as my favorite place in the world. i consider this to be my summer home
