Click to report rating    11/7/22   3     1     4     2     3   Culver is good, but the military aspect could be toned down. The staff is good, but some parents think that sending bad kids here took a toll and hurt my experience. RID: 53629
Click to report rating    9/23/21   2     1     1     1     1   Worst summer of my life. The staff is mean and they try to rip off your money. We never were allowed to do any fun activities. RID: 53471
Click to report rating    3/24/15   2     3     2     1     1   Here are some facts, only facts. The milk and cookies listed on their website, dry Graham crackers or left over fruit from the mess hall, no milk, pay for a day trip, good luck if you kid doesn't go, they'll charge you, and they are in charge of your kid telling him where to be. Be prepared to have your kid spend two full days each week doing nothing but parade. All the activities they have listed, don't think you'll get your kid into them all 1 at most of the more popular classes if you're lucky. Don't drink the cool aid. ASK QUESTIONS EACH PERMIT. IF your kid is part of a group of friends, who stick up for each other, or tough enough to make it on his own and looking for something to do over the summer then its not a bad camp under those circumstances. Click to report rating    7/1/12   5     5     5     5     5   Outstanding program that develops leadership and personal responsibility while ensuring the kids have a blast with sixty classes to choose from including scuba certification, basic aviation, fencing, sports, fine arts, sign language....it's just amazing! Just got a postcard from my daughter, "Thank you for sending me to Culver. I love and adore it!" This is her first year and her brother's third year. It reinforces our values at home while providing them with a wonderful, fun summer experience...win - win! RID: 41517
Click to report rating    4/5/09   5     5     5     5     5   Attended Culver and later was staff. All my siblings went and many friends. I still return to visit each summer. There could not be a finer camp. Looks like an Ivy League college. Many famous graduates. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. Best facilities, location, equipment, staff, and endowment. Many kids from other countries. The opportunity of a lifetime to make friends across the USA and the world. Learn to fly, dive, sail, shoot, water ski, etc.,etc. In my opinion, their program gives young adults the experience, knowledge and self confidence to be self sufficient throughout their lives. This is the best possible purpose for a summer camp experience. RID: 29440
Click to report rating    6/4/07   5     5     5     5     5   Culver has an excellent leadership program in addition to 65 different course offerings. It is on a beautiful lake and has an outstanding sailing program. Culver educates its students for leadership and responsible citizenship in society by developing and nuturing the whole individual - mind, spirit, and body - through integrated programs that emphasize the cultivation of character. Activities include archery, hockey, tennis, golf (has its own course), fencing, equitation, aviation instruction, art, music lessons, band, track, lacrosse water skiing, scuba, review math and English, SAT prep, speech, soccer to name just a few. Click to report rating    2/15/07   1     4     3     1     1   Culver is a unique experience. It consists of two programs the traditional 6 week and the specialty camp(pick one sports activity no military). They are two very different camps. The six week program is based on a military structure. Campers are required to keep things in correct order, march in groups and address adults in a polite "Yes Sir" way. In Woodcraft there are about 7-8 counselors for every 60 kids in the Upper Camp 3 staff per 60. Culvers program is based on a competitive program. This not a traditional camp. Campers do not spend their evenings around campfires roasting marshmallows. Instead track meets, miltary parades and movies take its place. Campers that enjoy the program are athletic and love to be active. Military Rank(Leadership Patch) is the most coveted award given to each camper at the end the summer season. Specialty camp is good alternative RID: 7848
