Click to report rating    7/20/25   3     1     2     1     3   Went there on a school trip, it was horrendous. Food was awful even for camp food, staff were rude and payed no attention to us, cabins were disgusting (We had multiple rats in ours…), and there’s literally nothing to do. The activities are all incredibly boring (Especially orienteering), and aside from the few sports courts, there’s nothing to do in your free time. On our first night, a girl didn’t have a mattress, and we had to take one from the neighbouring cabin (No, there was no counsellor to help us, which is another major issue). The toilets and showers are disgusting. We didn’t even get a campfire. I can’t imagine going here for more than 2 days… RID: 54249
Click to report rating    1/27/24   1     1     3     3     1   Literally poo was coming out of the toilet. The toilets were not powerful enough to flush. Cabins smelt terrible as a result. The juice was not drinkable. It tasted like purple, pink and orange popsicles melted into a plastic garbage bin and watered down. Also, the food sucks. People would get diarrhea and have few options as all the toilets were clogged. The counsellors all seemed to think this was normal. Most of them were bullies. Activities were okay. I don’t like that they make you jump around and dance in a cult like manner. You get ostracized if you don’t. RID: 53958
Click to report rating    6/6/18   1     1     1     1     1   the cabins are disgusting never haven't been properly killed in years. The food is poisions bring money to buy from the overly priced store because I went with 60 people and only 15 actually ate as they had no money to survive on chips and ice cream alone. The consolers are very aggressive and rude. I would never go back. RID: 51870
Click to report rating    8/23/16   4     2     4     3     3   If a camp that is making 400,000.00 dollars a week cannot hire a cleaning staff or upgrade their septic facilities so the stench of sewage does not permeate every cabin, they should be shut down. The bathrooms were beyond disgusting, by any standard, let alone one where our children are using. The camp was in run down shape which would have been fine if it was clean. My child was horrified and so was I . Shame on you for not fixing this. I am reporting this because it should be the top priority to fix this dreadful aspect of an otherwise wonderful camp RID: 49998

7/25/15   4     3     5     4     4   I went week one and decided to rate here. My cabin staff were extremely nice! Except some of the night patrol people were super mean. Facilities could use some touching up. On a side note our bathroom flooded. Activities were amazing! I did robotics and they taught me so much. The rick climbing was kind of boring, but i enjoyed the zipline. Personal attention was okay, just sometimes they wouldnt listen. The value of money was fine, just stuff were a bit pricy. I wrote this on the wrong one, yes they are my words. RID: 48933

5/31/15   5     5     5     5     5   I was a camper here for 8 years and am now a counsellor! Whether I went for a sport that I had experience with or not, I always left with more knowledge and skills! My counsellors were always kind and attentive and I always made new friends even though I was shy! I believe my camp experience really shaped me as a person and helped me to be more confident and outgoing. I love olympia and I keep coming back! RID: 48703

12/9/13   3     3     2     2     3   I went to Olympia as a camper and later worked as staff. While the other counsellors are great, the directors and senior staff are not good. They way I was treated by a unit leader (not mine, my unit leader was fantastic) and assistant director gave me Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and I'm just starting to undo the damage after 6 months of therapy. While I loved camp as a kid, being a counselor here was not good. They put you instructing things you've never even tried before, and you don't really get enough support or training to deal with the many issues that arise in taking care of a cabin. I often felt uncomfortable because the other staff members were always trying to sleep with each other a lot and I was ridiculed for my sexual orientation. I also encountered a fair deal of sexism. While I love camp, and I have some good memories, I don't think Olympia is a good place for you if you're not a white heterosexual male. I am now employed at another camp and very happy. RID: 46361

1/26/13   5     4     4     5     5   Olympia is amazing! I have been to 5 or 6 different summer camps in my time and none of them even come close. When I first came to Olympia, I was socially awkward and not very condfident. Olympia helped me make new friends (many of which I still keep in touch with 5 years later) and learn how to be myself. I have been going there for as long as I can remember, and i've done many different programs. The coaches were amazing, and I learned more than just how to improve at whatever sport I was taking. I learned life lessons. My counselors were like the older siblings I never had. They treated me as an equal, not some dumb kid they were stuck with. They were always there. We've kept in touch and even after camp is over they are there to give advice or guidance. Olympia did not change who I was, I simply found out who I was meant to be and became it a little more. I owe so much to everyone there. I hope to become a counselor this summer so I can do the same. You won't regret coming here. RID: 43495

8/19/12   4     2     3     2     2   I just got back from Week 7 yesterday, and my experience during Camp Olympia was par. The outdoor basketball facilities were terrible, I have a better net at home. The balls that you use were sh*t. The indoor nets were nice, but the floor was pavement, which isn't good for your knees. During my week, we played five games over seven days, which is ridiculous considering I went there to play. The drills were sub par, and I didn't really learn much. However, the camp life was a riot. Everyone in my cabin bonded over a matter of minutes, and we're already talking about a reunion. The dance was a lot of fun, although the consellours cockblocked a lot. There is graffiti in the cabins, but I didn't mind very much. In all honesty, if you want to improve on your game, go somewhere else. If you want the camp experience, definitely go here. I'm not returning simply because the basketball didn't meet my needs. This camp gets a three out of five. RID: 42437

8/14/11   4     3     1     3     1   My son just came back from the baseball camp at Olympia Sports Camp in Huntsville Ontario. I sent my son hoping that he would improve and get some pointers... he is already very good and is in a travel team but this camp advertise pros.. so I thought why not?.. Well they grouped him with kids that never played before and He ended up helping and teaching Them.. that's right my son was helping untrained kids .. yet he learned nothing new himself!.. This camp also advertises kayaking, sailing, canoeing.. etc.. BUT.. that is only for the kids that registered in the water sports program. My son swam that was it. He never even had a campfire. He said the food was very bland and the bathrooms were gross. When I picked him up there was an awards ceremony.. Music BLARING full blast while the kids jumped around.. oh but my son did get a leadership award.. probably because he did most of the teaching! I would not recommend this camp! RID: 36709

1/24/11   5     5     5     5     5   I have been to my share of camps, but none could compare to Olympia. This is why I had always gone back for 6 years. The staff are energetic, they are second to none in the courses they teach and Dave Talks had taught me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. They have an amazing water front facility, along with great high ropes course and outdoor and indoor sport facilities. I have memories and friends that will last a life time now. I just hope that Dave Grace will be able to keep the camp running for another 37 years. Yes the food isn't amazing and the cabins are a little run down, but it's camp that is a part of the experience. I know since I had last been at Olympia there has been recent renovations and a lot of money spent to improve the camp. I really do miss it there. Keep up the great work Dave and Greg and all the Olympia Staff. RID: 34923
Click to report rating    1/17/11   5     5     5     5     5   WOW SOME OF YOU GUYS ARE CRAZYY.. ! Olympia was acutally amazing and i had the best time ever there! The counsellors aren't snobby at all and they're so funny and fun to be around. I LOVED the food and i liked the balance between doing sports and free time. I'm definately going back next year. no doubt RID: 34866
Click to report rating    1/14/11   1     1     1     1     1   My time at this camp was a horrendous experience. I did not feel safe in the presents of the young, immature, unqualified, inexperienced, sex crazed staff, whom only seem to be there for the money. The facilities were unhygienic, broken down, unpleasant, and had "glory holes" (In the bathrooms). The sports were okay, but never was I motivated to participate, and I didn't feel that my health and safety were ever priority. The camp wide activities were poorly planed, and if you came for more than one week, then it is also very predictable. There is way too much unstructured free time, and not enough planned activities (especially with the door). The supervision is a joke, and I often saw my peers being able to sneak off to have sex without being noticed. There is no sense of a community at this camp; meal times, and other camp wide activities lacked spirit. The food was rancid, unhealthy, unimaginative, and clearly from frozen packets. It also lacked variety, college students eat better. RID: 34834
Click to report rating    9/3/08   3     1     2     3     2   If mouldy, musty cabins whose walls are filled with obscene graffiti are your thing, then this is the camp for you. On a recent school trip, the advertised indoor pool was out of order, many sport activities were not available, and the cabins and other facilities were old and unhygienic. Also, ****graphic and obscene graffiti had been allowed to remain on the cabin walls before our school's arrival. We were very unsatisfied. RID: 26311
Click to report rating    3/27/08   5     5     5     5     5   LOVED IT. the counsellors are awesome, theres so much to do, and you get enough free time. the lake is SO PRETTY RID: 21673
Click to report rating    12/16/07   4     2     5     5     5   The camp needs some fixing up, but other than that, you make friends, have incredible amounts of fun, and your sporting skills will go up incredibly! I highly recomend this camp! RID: 18055

Click to report rating    8/26/07   3     3     2     1     1   Olympia is actually very boring during girls week. Its a bit better during co-ed weeks, but still it's not the best camp ever. I would suggest bringing a friend! RID: 14495
Click to report rating    8/24/07   2     1     2     1     1   where do I begin?? The cabins were nasty; food was gross; the juice was terrible; tuck shop lines were long, after waiting 1 hour in line they tell "sorry it's lunch time and you can't buy anything"; 3-4 hours sleep dosen't cut it; bathrooms stunk; toilets don't work; counsellors pay no attention; Played the worst game of double dear, counsellors got some kids to do nasty things like licking their armpits and licking shoes and dirty tennis balls. YUCK!!! Not a good experience!! Did I mention me and my friends came back sick! (no we didn't do any of the licking); The sports and competition could have been better. RID: 14420
Click to report rating    6/27/07   1     1     1     1     1   sucks, i thouhgt going to this camp was fun...wasn't rele fun, no time to relax. to much work, and not like traditional campstoo crowded and counsellers are sommetimes snobby. food wasn't that great RID: 12546
Click to report rating    6/16/07   3     2     4     2     2   Just stayed there for 3 nights on aschool trip. LOved the fact that6 there were no night watchers. Hated the food. The cabins were pretty gross, and very cramped. Counsellors were Ok. Waterfront was very pleasant. RID: 12085
Click to report rating    5/26/07   3     2     5     3     3   My cabin leader was sooo weird!!!! & every thing is old (the cabins are kinda gross!) Accept the cheerleading coach was the BEST!!!! RID: 11178
Click to report rating    3/16/07   5     5     5     5     5   Amazing! Best camp of life! I have been there for 4 years and it truly is amazing! Long lasting friendships, sports, what is not to love? Olmypia rocks my socks off! RID: 8704
Click to report rating    2/14/07   4     1     4     3     4   It was good but the cabins were terrible!! We were on there on a school trip and we stayed over night and the cabins were nasty. They had bug problems, shower problems, bed problems (the top bunk beds would sink down to the bottom layer and flatten the person on the bottom), and vandalism problems. RID: 7816
Click to report rating    2/1/07   3     3     3     2     3   pretty good camp, wished there was more time to relax and socialize to meet new people. early mornings really tired me out!!!! o well i would recommend this camp to anyone who wants to improve playing sports, its not for people who don't like the outdoors (BAD FOOD) (BUGS) (DEAD ANIMALS IN CABINS!!!!) RID: 7420
Click to report rating    1/31/07   5     5     5     5     5   omg best camp ever...vegetarian food is sooooo yummy there and counselours are soooo nice im going back next year/....best summer of my lyfe, amazing for like $500!!! u gotta try it RID: 7404
Click to report rating    12/5/06   3     4     4     3     4   if you are there just for the sport this is a great place to go. you will improve quite quickly. however, for camp value...there are much better places. I've been to a lot of camps and even though i learned a lot at Olympia and would go back for the skills...it wasn't very much fun. the staff are great when they are teaching you...but in your cabin they DON'T care at all!!! RID: 5705
Click to report rating    11/27/06   5     5     5     5     5   wow, an amazing experienced, for someone like me. i mean i went there as a girl who love sports, but who couldn't speak english. well, only a little bit. People of olympia are really open and welcoming, its hard to stay shy while singing sweeeeeeet caroooliiiiineee! haha. it was amazing, i loved it! RID: 5387
Click to report rating    11/10/06   2     4     4     1     1   the food was awful and my counsler payed now attention and when she said she was watching a sailing movie she was really watching princess diarys RID: 4835
Click to report rating    9/15/06   4     2     4     4     4   The camp was okay, however, I found the food was quite bad here. The juice was gross, they said "Whatever you don't finish, pour back into this bucket". ewww. Our cabins smelled strongly of ****, there was a chunk of **** in our shower, and it was a long drive from where I live. Other than that though, pretty good. BRING YOUR OWN FOOD! USE THE WOOD BOXES IN YOUR ROOMS TO STORE IT! BRING A SMALL LOCK TO ENSURE IT DOESN'T GET STOLEN OR EATEN BY BUGS. (Worked for us, and is merely a suggestion). RID: 3189

Click to report rating    8/2/06   2     1     2     1     1   Didn't like this camp... too many people of different ages and there was hardly any free time to actually get to know people. It's always "go-go-go!" from the minute you wake up to the second you fall asleep. RID: 1754
Click to report rating    7/16/06   5     5     5     5     5   Great staff. I was a little shy at first, but everyone was soo welcoming, that I decided to come back for two more years. Thanks Olympia!!! RID: 1427
