Click to report rating    6/22/17   1     1     1     1     1   Awful customer service! Took MONTHS of sending emails and calling to finally get a response to an inquiry. After researching this company's annual revenue, it's evident they can afford to pay someone to answer emails/phone calls. I'm willing to bet that it won't take them months to respond to this negative review...let's watch. I predict that, if they do respond, the response will, in no way, actually address their customer service failures but will, instead, try to deflect with other nonsense in a diatribe about how great they are. If they would take as much effort to return phone calls and emails as they do in typing up defenses to their negative reviews, maybe I wouldn't be writing this negative review right now. RID: 50865
Click to report rating    6/21/17   1     1     1     1     1   Don't waste your money on this camp if your kid is over 12 or has any basketball skills. Read the fine print in the waiver. NO REFUNDS even on first day if you are not happy with anything. Bad trainers, slow boring drills, no competition, and a lot of down time just sitting. In phoenix GCU camp is way better and cheaper. Click to report rating    8/24/15   1     1     1     1     1   My son absolutely hated this camp. When he first came home from the first day of camp... He started off by saying "you know how summer camp is supposed to be super fun??!!This one's not like that." Then it went downhill from there. He talked about that how the coaches were overly strict think that making them do push-ups constantly and they didn't even do very many drills because they're constantly in trouble because some random kid would bounce the ball and they're not supposed to. After doing a lot of running and push-ups he thought it would be more focused on basketball not punishment. They then proceeded to storytime where the coach decided it was appropriate to cuss in front of little kids over and over using such word as**** **** and damn. His stories were inappropriate yet still totally boring. After the first day of camp I called to see if we can cancel. Of course I received no response by email or over the phone. I would never recommend this camp to anyone else! RID: 49124
Click to report rating    7/28/15   1     1     1     1     1   DO NOT PAY FOR THIS CAMP....coaches and directors are below average and the content is extremely basic RID: 48951
Click to report rating    9/23/14   5     5     5     5     5   The camp was run by a staff who was highly qualified and personable. The amount of drilling and skill work that the athletes were put through was not for the faint of heart. I haven't found any other camp out there that gives 40 hours of intensive instruction for even close to the same price. The value is exceptional. RID: 48008
Click to report rating    8/11/14   1     1     1     1     1   I registered my son for the August camp at the Chicago location in June of this year. I did not receive any info or response, so I contacted the main line and spoke to the CEO & Founder. He sent me all the info and assured me I was registered. Showed up for camp this morning, only to be told it was canceled. Here I was standing with my son, holding his ball & lunch all excited to start and I had to tell him the whole thing was not happening. No one emailed or called me, I wasted an hour going to and from the location and was told that I would not received a refund from Advantage - I would have to go through the site they advertised on (CertifiKid) to try to get a refund. Huh? You canceled and now I have to do extra work to get refunded. So I'm possibly out $175, lost time from the commute and most important seeing the disappointment in my son for not having camp. Terrible business practice! RID: 47827
4/22/14   1     4     1     1     1   Sorry my kids did this camp. I had two young kids attend his Agoura/Calabasas camp. The coach was not nice, yelled at them meanly and had them do puh ups when they made a mistake. When I emailed Mike my complaints, his response was only defending the coach. I don't care if the coach was a former NBA player, with awards. If he isn't suited to coach younger children he shouldn't be there. This is not a camp for young kids, even hard working ones (which mine are). They only had twelve kids, ranging from 5 to high school age. Terrible experience! What made it worse was the owners reponse. RID: 47227
Click to report rating    8/16/13   5     5     5     5     5   My son attended this camp in Redondo Beach, California. There were 60 children and about 5 staff supervising. The camp was well organized. The children seemed to be learning many valuable skills. It was a physical challenge for the kids. A real basketball camp. This one is not for lazy kids. The staff were professional and knowledgeable about basketball. The basketball court was big enough to accommodate all the children and observing parents. The children were all having a great time. I would tell my friends about this camp. There were children of all races and different ages. Everyone seemed very friendly. The camp started right on time and ended right on time. The kids worked together like a team. I would say in conclusion that this basketball camp was very nice. It was my first time enrolling my son and I will enroll him again next year. I own my own business too, child care and I totally trusted my son to stay with the staff at this camp. I have no complaints. RID: 45713
Click to report rating    7/27/13   5     5     5     5     5   My 12 yr old son just finished his 5 days at ABC (Aguora Hills, CA) and he had the best time! We are from Italy and my son was very interested in trying a camp with coaches from NBA & NCAA backgrounds. He learned a lot and improved his game! All the coaches (there were always 2 each day for 30 players) were great with students of all ages - they were attentive and patient yet authoritative. Coach Carlos in particular was outstanding, even dedicating some 1on1 time with my son as well as with other students who were interested (thank you coach Carlos!). The drills were excellent and demanding. The gym (Aguora High) was clean and exceptional. Next time we're in the States, my son would definitely do this camp again, if possible. RID: 45383

7/12/13   1     2     1     1     1   I had 3 grand children recently attend a camp in Oklahoma City. The camp was totally unorganized. There was approximately 70 to 80 kids and only 3 instructors. Two of which did not know what was suppose to be going on. There was lots of down time because they were always waiting for Coach K to explain what they were going to do next. The kids did a lot of standing around and waiting. Instruction and teaching was poor. We have attended numerous camps in the past and this is by far the worst that I have ever I have experienced. Nothing more than a 3 day expensive child sitter. RID: 45133
Click to report rating    7/8/13   1     1     1     1     1   We drove 2.5 hours and set up a 3 night hotel. Registration was at 8:30. We pulled up to a run down daycare facility, the gym was small and what you'd expect by the look of the building. There were 2 other teens there waiting. It got to be after 9 and still no mike hummel, I left my name and number with the principal of the school so they could call me if he ever showed up. I did receive a call from her like 10 minutes later informing me that she just received an email stating the camp was cancelled. WHAT??????? 3 days and a ton of money down the drain. I'm completely dumbfounded. I will be contacting a lawyer to see what can be done. I don't know how ESPN can recommend this joke of a camp. RID: 45060
4/9/13   1     3     1     1     1   If I could give a zero, I would. This camp is completely unprofessional when you just walk in the door and it gave me an oh uh feeling dropping my son off only to be justified the next day. Chris ran the camp, called my 10 year old son a little girl and a wimp , lied to my face when I asked him about an incident and when my son stated that he didn t want to come back to camp because of how upset he was, Chris told him fine, don t come back . Really? This is how an adult coach talks to a 10 year old? When we called Mike to complain and ask for our money back, he accused us of bad parenting skills and said he felt Chris handled the situation correctly. He also said he had never heard Chris call anyone names. RIGHT! My husband got a bit upset and Mike HUNG UP ON HIM. This camp is AWFUL!! My son will be forever scarred by this memory! RID: 44220
Click to report rating    2/20/13   1     2     1     1     1   Not as advertised. Besides a gym, you get two young, disinterested "counselors" who are physically there. I dropped by and there was an 8:8 scrimmage, because there was 16 unfortunate kids stuck in this "camp." Worse than recess because the kids themselves didn't pick the teams. Old kids vs. young with zero interaction or instruction by the two burnouts there. My son confirmed that it was this bad most of the day. He said a counselor didn't speak to him the entire day, forget indivdual instruction. RID: 43771
7/25/12   1     4     1     1     1   HORRIBLE camp -This was a 4 hour camp and they were 20 minutes late getting started, gave the kids lots of breaks including a 45 MINUTE break so the "coach" could give a private shooting lesson. The "drills" they had the boys do were ridiculous and couldve been done in my driveway. Little to NO teaching on how to shoot. I saw the "coach" outside on his phone more than once and was in and out the whole time - a couple times I was the only adult in the gym! My son learned nothing. They also advertise that JD Taylor from UW would be there and he was there....for literally 5 minutes. Would not recommend this camp to anyone! When I voiced my frustrations the "coach" said - I understand what you're saying - then walked away. Needless to say I asked for a refund. RID: 42091
Click to report rating    6/28/12   1     1     1     1     1   My 13 year old son went for 3 days out of 5. The kids were packed like sardines in the much too small gym. They were not given individual attention. It looked like a factory with little if no care shown by the counselors. I spoke to the owner Michael about my son's concerns. He was hostile and very condescending. He told me it's only for kids who are hard workers. My son bikes 25 miles at a time and has more energy and stamina than most. I was very respectful to him yet he continued to be very defensive about the program. To me, it seems like the camp is about making money. Enroll as many kids as you can, telling people that they have the best coaches (best? maybe best players but not best or even close to it with working with kids). Bottom line: impersonal, uncaring enviroment with questionable methods of endless repetitions that doesn't hold up to the science of how to best learn a sport.Who cares how accomplished the coaches/counselors are?that's just important for your resume RID: 41479
Click to report rating    6/7/12   1     1     1     1     1   Do Not! Do Not! Sign up for this camp, if your child gets hurt they will not acknowledge your child is hurt or even call the parent. My son broke his finger and fractured it and he sat on the side line for 3 hours until I came to pick him up. No one asked why he was crying or asked him why he was sitting on the side line waiting. RID: 41227
Click to report rating    12/18/11   5     5     5     5     5   It is recognized as one of the best ball handling camps in the USA. RID: 37528
Click to report rating    7/17/11   1     3     1     1     1   Total waste of money. Too many kids and not enough staff. Expensive and NO redeeming qualities at all RID: 36424
