Our son and daughter have attended Camp Dixie for eight years and totally love it. Now our son is in his third year as a counselor. Almost 100% of the staff were campers and have been coming for decades because it's a special family atmosphere where safety, kindness, teamwork, good food, outdoors activity, fun, friendship and helping one another are priorities. I am in my fourth summer as a camp mom volunteer, so I am very aware of any medical issues or concerns. Children are helped immediately with any medical concern and parents are notified right away and kept informed. I highly recommend Camp Dixie.

I was a camper and a counselor at Camp Dixie and have wonderful memories. After having a career as a youth development specialist, I returned as a volunteer Camp Mom. The leadership-oriented traditions are still a key part of the camp program. The facilities are rustic but safe; the food is good; and the staff is well-trained. Campers have a wide variety of activities to choose from. The family atmosphere and small camper to counselor ratio allows all campers to receive a lot of attention. I have friends who have sent their children and grandchildren to this camp. Parents can be sure that their children will have a safe and fun time at Camp Dixie.

Ignore the bad reviews, this was an awsome camp.and I would reccomuend it to worried mothers like myself. But I assure you your child will love this camp. I wish I could ship myself out there.:)

I went to Camp Dixie when I was 11 for a fun week, and went back the following year for 2 weeks. It is an amazing camp, but unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to return. I love how it's small, and you get individual attention and the chance to bond with your councelor(s). The staff were upbeat and friendly. The facilities are definitely rugged, not hazardous as another rater described. I guess if your precious children are spoiled rotten 'fluff' that have never been somewhere without AC they might not appreciate the rustic cabins. :P Anyway.. The activities were exciting. I enjoyed canoeing, kyaking, horse-back riding, crafts, swimming, hiking, survival skills, and much more. I also had a little sister that I made things for, but unlike the other rater I spent a very small amount of time doing that. (: Like I said earlier, the staff and Miss Rhonda are wonderful. The day is always packed but you never feel rushed. Overall, this camp is one I would recommend. - 14 y/o dixie lvr

This was the worst camp. The cabins are all interconnected with visible outdated wiring. The kids sleep upstairs. This was a terrible fire hazard. I don't know how they get away with it. The girls had almost no activities except making gifts for "sisters". Very **** orientation. My daughter and her friend went once for a week and then said they only wanted a three day camp the next time. The friend broke her leg while there. They told the parents she was fine and never let them talk to the child. They found out it was broken at their orthopedist when the child came home. To be fair I know other children who love it at Camp Dixie and return year after year but they probably have never been to a camp with more facilities like the ones where my children now go.
