I was a camper for 7 years and I loved it! It is a place where you can be yourself without any judgment, it is also where I discovered my passion for guitar and preforming in front of audiences. The community is unbelievably supportive and I owe Nor'wester so much in gratitude!

My kids have gone to Camp Nor'Wester for a couple of summers and they LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it. They come home more responsible and compasionate, kinder to one another. They have made friends from all over the world that they keep in touch with. Top notch program.

I was a camper at Nor'wester for 7 summers and I attribute my self confidence, career, and community involvement to what I learned at Nor'wester. Whether a child attends for one summer or many, s/he will leave with a greater sense of self, community, and the environment.

Nor'wester has been providing community for children in one of the most beautiful spots in the country, the San Jaun Islands, for over 60 years. It is absolutely the BEST place to go to camp and that is why I gave it all 5's. Our children loved all the many activites; sailing, kayaking, biking, arts & crafts, living in tepees, and being with so many cool kids from all over the country. Camp helped our children develope a deep appreciation for the environment too. Later as young adults, they were eager to return to camp as counselors. If I were to name the one thing that had the greatest and most positive impact on our children in their growing-up, it would be Camp Nor'wester, and they would whole heartedly agree!

Camp Nor'Wester has a special magic that has been going on for 70 years. It has an amazing staff and Directors and is set in the majestic San Juan Islands. Campers live in units of similar aged children of the same gender. They live in either tipis or tents. They do most of their activities together. These include canoeing, sailing, kayaking, arts and crafts, archery, adobe oven, overnights, ropes course, drama, naturalist, and meals. Technology such as video games, tv, phones and ipods are not allowed - allowing campers to learn to connect with people. Campers will also be asked to do things outside of their comfort zone and this will lead to confidence, discovery and growth. Learning to work within a unit and appreciate others strengths and weaknesses are life skills that come in handy well beyond their years as campers. Campers will go home with incredible memories and friendships that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
