Year two at CGE and they still love it! From friends, they heard CBB has 'real' toilets and cabins! (My girls hate the clivuses and platform tents). The staff is amazing, the director is wonderful, and the new chef gets rave reviews from the campers. In fact, when we picked up our kids yesterday, one asked to go back on Sunday...we grabbed the last spot and she begins a fourth week tomorrow. We'll definitely try CBB next year! In addition to the toilets and cabins, CBB also has intercession weekends - great for parents who p/u their girls at 5:30pm on Friday just to return them at 2:00pm on Sunday. In our house, we call it 'camp quick turn' - and it's a pain. In fact, the only complaints we have are the lack of intercession weekends, the clivuses, and the tents that house five girls instead of four. Five girls in those tents is one girl too many! It's a terrific value, very safe, with incredible opportunities. We'll send them as long as they want to go!

My daughter came from out-of-state for the last session, which was a sampling of camp activities. The platform tents seemed too small for five girls, but four girls didn't seem so cramped. The toilets/outhouses were pretty unappealing, I bet they smelled better the first session. The activities were great, she really enjoyed herself! She really liked the staff and said she even liked doing chores. It was inexpensive, within a two hour drive, and they seemed to take safety very seriously. My daughter can't wait to go back next year. She exchanges emails with campers she met at Camp Green Eyrie and really misses it.

Can't wait to go back! The two week camps are better because you get to spend more time making friends. The counselors and CITs are fun. The food is good. There are lots of activities to choose from and they always do tie-dyeing. It's really a good camp!

Our girls, 9 & 10, love CGE! The staff is wonderful; the genuine interest they show in each camper makes a great camp experience! During their first week, someone in their tent was sent home with an ear infection. I did not see any evidence of previous reviewers being made to stay at camp while sick. In fact, one of our girls has asthma and the nurse is well-qualified. During a week of severe storms, the kids were anxious and everything was handled very well. There is a diverse group of campers and staff, and absolutely no complaints of meanness or bullying. My kids were covered in bug bites the first week, but I think they learned the importance of bug spray!

I wish I had found this site before my 9yr old attended camp this summer...as noted by another parent...My child wanted to call me and also wanted to go home. She tells stories of other girls getting physically ill (vomiting nightly) and not being allowed to go home. My daughter now doesn't want to leave home, has nightmares, wants to quit Girl Scouts, and is having trouble staying all day at school. She has been referred by her Dr to a therapist. I dropped off a happy wonderful girl and picked up a scared, upset fragile child who trusts no one...this is wrong!

I went to Camp Green Eyrie for five summers, and I loved it every time. I stopped going because a lot of the activities and trips got way too 'sissy', like taking a trip to the mall. Come on, you don't go to camp to go shopping. However, they did have some truly interesting programs, like Dream Catchers and On Stage, about Native Americans and theater arts, respectively. Also, I had conflicts with specific girls at nearly every session I went to, and in order to solve them, the staff decided to bring the entire unit down on them, which I thought was unfair. I'm going back this summer for two sessions as an LIT, after a two-year break from CGE, and I hope everything has improved since I left.

My 11-yr-old went with a friend in July 2009. MANY girls were sick, throwing up (4 out of 5 campers in my girls' tent alone; some vomited several times). No phone calls home, no calls to the Board of Health, nothing. We did not find this out until the day we picked up. Henceforth I will always specify beforehand that I am to be called in such a situation. Also, it poured rain and camp had no alternative activities, so campers did a midnight hike in the rain. Outdoor campfires were "enjoyed" in the rain. There were not enough kayaks, so our girls did not get to go on the moonlight kayak the one night it didn't rain. Food was not enough, and sometimes not provided when campers in the Night Owls program were in need of a meal. Some of the counselors were good, but some were "mean", and none had the sense to pick up the telephone. My daughter won't be going back.
