8/22/17   5     4     4     5     5   My daughters went to IRC for the first time this summer (after the Mother/Daughter weekend--which I highly recommend for first-timers) and absolutely loved it. They liked the small number of girls and the personal attention they got from the awesome counselors. Their riding improved dramatically in just two weeks! The quality of instruction and horses were excellent and safety was always a priority. The cabins could do with some upgrades (and extra fans) but they are above general camp standards. My girls also wished they could have taken breaks from activities (such as tennis) when they were tired, but they loved learning to water ski and had an amazing time on the NYC trip. This is an excellent camp for beginners or advanced riders. My girls can't wait to return next year! RID: 51271

10/7/15   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter has been attending this camp for three years and I can not say enough good things! The camp is run by wonderful caring people, they have beautiful well loved horses and amazing instruction. My daughter has grown as a rider under their care in a safe and wonderful way. The food is organic and healthy. The excursions are once in a lifetime opportunities. My daughter has made lifelong friends. Don't hesitate- GO RID: 49220

10/6/15   5     4     5     5     5   If your daughter loves horses and riding, then this is definitely the camp for her. My daughter started at the age of 8 and completed her 4th summer and is counting down the days until next summer! The quality of the horses and riding instruction are both excellent which is what is most important to us. The counselors are very attentive and the owner is always accessible if you have any questions. The lodging facility is not glamorous, but is part of the appeal to my daughter and wouldn't trade it for anything else. The camaraderie amongst the girls focused around their mutual love of horses is incredible. RID: 49219

10/1/15   4     3     4     4     4   horses are good (which is the important part!), horse facilities are good - nice cross country course and fences, camp housing facilities are dated, it's probably not much different than any catskill camp. my daughter had a great time and would go back. mixed reviews on the food but she's picky so I couldn't tell you without seeing myself - maybe it was too healthy for her american diet tastes. riding instruction was good and she's been to quite a few places and done some big shows so she would know (she's 16) RID: 49207

10/1/15   5     4     5     5     5   My daughters first summer at International Riding Camp and she cannot wait to go again next year! Her counselor and room mates from many parts of the world became fast friends and had much fun in and out of the riding ring. The day trip to NYC and riding in Central Park is a must! I highly recommend this camp. RID: 49206

10/1/15   5     5     5     4     4   If you daughter rides English and wants to work on her skills, this is an excellent choice for camp. Wonderful instruction on all aspects of horsemanship. Sessions run continuously all summer, so very flexible schedule options. We sent our daughter for 2 weeks in 2014 & 4 weeks in 2015. She will be going back next summer. Dorm is not "fancy" but is more than adequate for the girls' needs. Our daughter liked the food better as a 14 year old than as a 13 year old - meals are not primarily "kids" food. Other than riding, only activities are swim, tennis & arts & crafts, but if your daughter would prefer riding to any other activity, this camp is ideal. Lots of a la carte options - extra riding time and trips - so cost varies but it is never cheap (since horse related activities never are). RID: 49203
Click to report rating    8/20/15   3     2     3     3     2   From the looks of the pictures/reviews online, IRC sounded like the best place to go. However, when I stepped foot inside, everything was in shambles. The carpet was filthy, there was inappropriate graffiti on the bunks, and the bathroom was not clean. My dorm room got very hot and at night, we had three fans blowing in the room, making it very hard to sleep on uncomfortable beds. Most of counselors were nice; however, many of them were on their phones. When I went on the NYC Trip, the lead girl was texting while riding. The horses were nice but the stable facilities were rundown. The horses are overworked every single day.For the packing list, you do NOT need to buy everything. I never used my hoof oil, and you can borrow bureaus, tennis balls, etc. From the website, it sounded like the food was really good; all organic with lots of options. It is terrible with not a lot to choose from. For breakfast, they served the same things everyday. Do not come here! RID: 49104
Click to report rating    5/5/15   5     5     5     5     5   Amazing camp! I've met life long friends here and improved my riding tremendously. You don't have to be the best rider in the world to go, in fact you don't even need to know how to ride...as long as you have a love for horses and making new friends! One of the best things to do as a rider is to ride all different kinds of horses, good, bad, naughty, nice, whatever, and that's exactly how IRC can improve you as a rider. The people are great! Since everyone has the same passion, everyone is friends within 5 minutes of knowing each other! Honestly one of the best experiences I have ever had! (The NYC trip is a must!) RID: 48641
Click to report rating    3/30/15   5     5     5     5     5   The most amazing camp for the serious rider who wants to get better in an exceedingly short amount of time. RID: 48558
Click to report rating    2/16/14   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter LOVES this camp. It is not a fancy summer camp with lots of bells and whistles and activities- it is for SERIOUS horse back riders- riders that want lots of seat time and to get better FAST and have alot of fun and be safe and make friends while doing it. This camp is not cheap but if you have a serious rider then you know riding is expensive! This is an amazing camp for girls who are obsessed with horses and riding!! RID: 46774
Click to report rating    12/10/13   5     5     5     5     3   I went to IRC this summer for the first time. Everyone was so nice to me and wanted to be my friend. The staff was amazing. We ride 3hrs a day and have art and tennis in the morning and pool in the `afternoon; sometimes we go to the lake. (when not riding). When I came I was not the best rider. I worked really hard everyday. I rode in the 3rd highest riding group. We did things that were new to me..When I came back from camp I started riding with the head trainer at my barn. I did more shows and placed a lot higher than I ever did. IRC helped my riding so much. The barn is across the street from the dorm. You have 2 different riding times each day. p is my 2nd home. I cannot wait to go back! RID: 46364
Click to report rating    10/29/13   5     4     1     3     1   I have two good things to say: The staff and the horses were both amazing (especially the horses:)) Unfortunately, nothing else was very good. The kids are more interested in talking about boys and how annoying their rich parents are than participating in the activities. Sometimes we wouldn't even have art or tennis because the counselors couldn't get the girls to participate. My roomate showed up in a limo, and then proceeded to complain about her mom for the rest of the week and about her boyfriend issues. She was 12... And this is how most of the 11 year old and 12 year old girls act here. Not to mention how the older ones act... RID: 46209
Click to report rating    2/5/13   4     5     5     5     5   My daughter went to International riding Camp last summer. It was her first time at sleep away camp and she didn't know how to ride! After 2 weeks she was cantering. She LOVED it and can't wait to go back next summer. RID: 43588
Click to report rating    12/19/12   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter loves this camp! The riding program is top notch Great horses and professional instruction. I was impressed with the stress on safety. My daughter learned how important it is to pay attention while she is working with the horses, grooming and giving them a bath. Campers are even required to wear a helmet while they are in the barn. All the other activities, tennis, arts and crafts and acitivities at the heated pool are well run and taught by wonderful counselors. My ten year old daughter even learned how to water ski after one lesson. She talked about the New York City riding trip for weeks after she got home. What a memorable experience this camp has been. Will be coming back next year and for several years after that. RID: 43246
Click to report rating    12/19/12   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter has been going for 2 years. what an unbelievable experience she had. She has become such an advanced rider from attending the camp. the staff are amazing, overall on outstanding camp. RID: 43244
Click to report rating    12/18/12   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter and I have attended International Riding Camp every year for the past three years during the Mother/Daughter weeks and it is a terrific place for girls to develop their riding ability and self esteem. The camp is extremely well run in every way. I highly recommend this camp for girls of all ages. RID: 43240
Click to report rating    12/17/12   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter has attended International Riding Camp for the last 3 years and loves it more and more each session!! She has grown to be a confident rider and an even more confident young lady. She looks forward to returning again this coming summer!! RID: 43238
Click to report rating    12/17/12   5     5     5     5     5   My first year i arrived not knowing how to ride but with in 3 weeks i was cantering and jumping. The horses are great and so are the councelers. RID: 43233
Click to report rating    12/17/12   5     4     5     5     5   Great horsemanship experience. Not glossy or chic but an authentic horse person/ranch/farm experience. Everything is well kept up pool, tennis courts, ski boats and equipment but the location is quite rural. Wholesome organic food and scrubbed, sweet counselors who are chosen from a worldwide pool of applicants. We own a horse and live at the beach and my girls would rather spend their summers here. Well tended equipment and horses. The owner and his wife really have this faculty well in hand and work hard to have new and different activities every year. This will be our 8th year. They even taught mom to ride. The optional hamptons and NYC trips are a must. Older girls should try the polo education program. Only one of its type around. Very detailed instruction from a true pro. RID: 43232
Click to report rating    1/1/12   3     3     4     3     3   My daughter went to IRC for two weeks last year. She had a mixed experience. We found the girls to be a bit more "worldly" than my daughter, who was 10 at the time--in terms of language and the subjects they discussed. The directors seemed a bit dismissive of parent concerns. My daughter was allowed to call us one day. We weren't home and she mentioned she had fallen off a horse twice. We called to follow up with the directors and make sure she was OK (and it said online that parents could call them to check in, but not the girls directly), left two messages, and no one called us back. The camp is of course all about riding. My daughter had fun at the other activities, but there was no real tennis or art instruction, and the tennis courts were in pretty poor shape. Could be great for some kids, but wasn't for my daughter, who will not be returning. RID: 37593
Click to report rating    12/22/11   5     5     5     5     5   I personally do not understand how someone can say besides horseback riding the activities stunk. Let's double check the name shall we! The name of this camp is Internaational Riding, so anybody who choses to come here loves horses and loves riding, and if you don't then go find another camp. In camp with a name like this one you shouldn't be expecting more activities than horseback riding! Yet, they do offer other activities that might not be as goods other sports camps, but to heck with it because you are going to horseback riding camp, not a waterskiing camp!!! Don't be stupid this camp is not for people who do not want to learn to ride, I mean come on it is in the name! Really stupid people these days! RID: 37553

Click to report rating    4/4/11   3     5     1     1     1   uggghhh!! staff were prety good and facilities were OK but I really hated this camp!! way too expensive for my poor parents. I've been 2 times because the second time i needed a place to go!! No one liked me at all and besides horses, the activities stunk!!! :( :( RID: 35560
Click to report rating    3/11/11   5     5     5     5     5   This camp has great horses and instructors. Riding is the main activity but there are a lot of other cool things to do like water skiing. The food is really healthy too, it is organic. I had so much fun at this camp. RID: 35324
Click to report rating    6/16/09   2     1     2     1     1   I had a bad time, because the horses didn't like me and they wouildn't move. All of the girls were really mean to me. They camp was the worst RID: 30079
Click to report rating    1/13/09   3     1     1     1     1   This was an awful camp. The head lady of the camp was one of the cruelest and meanest women I have ever met. If you send your daughter here you definitly not be pleased. Her riding improved a little, but it was so not worth how mean the other girls were and how bad the rooms were. The horses were not kept well and there was a supposed structure that was very pooly enforced. Nice councelors, but not skilled in their area. RID: 28580
Click to report rating    4/2/08   5     4     4     5     5   Great camp. lots of fun, learned a TON, improved my riding by... a lot. met new friends, counselers were quite nice and understanding, going back for my 4th year soon... i recommend it for all riders. RID: 21891
Click to report rating    2/5/08   1     1     1     1     1   This camp was by far the worst camp i have EVER been to. The counselers were rude and unsanitary. The horses were not taken care of and the campers were not well taken care of. RID: 19889
