The best Jewish camp in California! A warm, nurturing atmosphere, where friends and group-building matter more than sports and "stuff". Gilboa is part of a youth movement, a rare opportunity to develop leadership skills and social awareness that lasts a lifetime. My kids have gone to Gilboa since 2004 and have liked it much more than the larger, more institutional camp they had gone to before. They like having friends of all ages and that the barriers between boys and girls are broken down so they see each other as just people. They are developing leadership skills. They have many serious discussions about how they can work toward a more just society with social equality, both here and in Israel. They always come home with something new and interesting to say. And the staff are so dedicated and inspiring and create such a loving atmosphere. Camp Gilboa has been around, at different locations since the 1930's and I am so pleased that my children are part of it.
