My child has been going to Camp Middlesex for 3 years now. My expectations are reasonable and I know it's not an expensive camp. My child loves being with friends and making new friends. The food is ok and there are always alternate choices so they all find something to eat. Some of the counselors are great. However, the director (Steve) seems to not really care anymore - he looks like he's just going through the motions. Why do this if you don't love it? The campfire ceremony is monotone, like they've done it a thousand times and let's just get through this one. The nurse didn't give basic OTC meds that were necessary for a minor injury, which would have made my child feel better. Also, no communication when your child goes to the nurse, which I thought would be done. I think they need set a more genuinely enthusiastic tone. Not sure we will be back for a 4th summer.

This camp is one of my favorite places in the world.I discovered it about 7 years ago, and it has since changed my life. I have met so many new friends here, campers and counselors alike. The people here are amazing, and the counselors strive to create an amazing summer experience. You learn skills such as boating, archery, fishing, arts and crafts, and many other things. I can't remember a time when I didn't love camp. There are so many activities, that this camp is perfect for virtually anyone, and it's available for girls and boys ages 6-15. Even though Camp Middlesex is pretty basic as camps go, it's still so unique. You get the real camp experience, including everything from late-night bonfires to fishing for crayfish in the gorge. As stated in an earlier post, my only regret is also not attending this camp earlier. Now, the bathroom and shower facilities here aren't great, but it is far far outdone by the perfection of the rest of the camp (not to mention the food is great!).

This place has made me a better person. Next year will be my 7th year. My only regret is that I did not find this place sooner. Every day is an amazing experience. It is a place to learn and grow in a safe and loving evironment. I've tried other camps before but this one is truly a special place where magic happens.

This is my favorite camp ever. During the school year, I yearn to go back and have fun. The counseler a are amazing, and I have made some great friends there. Although the bathrooms are smelly, the camp experience makes up for it. I love all the options they have to chose from for activities. It is a great camp and everyone should attend it.

This camp is the best I have been to because you can really be your self and feel self in the enviorment and I could not ask for a better place to spend my summer because this place is the best thing that has ever happened to me. The staff is absolutely amazing and every week I go I create friendships. People actually cry when they leave and I'm one of those people and I hope to be a cit when I am to old to be a camper anymore and when it is I have the greatest memories to hold on to. I would definetley recommend this camp. "Cause these are the best days"

My two boys have attended Camp Middlesex for the last four summers. My oldest son is now a counselor. They both look forward to camp as the highlight of their summer. This camp lives the values of 4-H, valuing each individual for who they are and teaching kids teamwork and cooperation, and responsibility. It is rustic, but in a plugged in world, this is what my kids love about it! They have never complained about the accomodations or the food. Week long themes make each day different, and they always wish they could stay longer when it is time to come home. Many counselors are international students from around the world and they offer the campers a different perspective. The director and his crew have been running the camp for years now and do a great job. My son who is now a counselor has attended several weekends of training focusing on child development, a summer as a cit. I have no hesitation in recommending Camp Middlesex for both day and overnight campers. We love Camp Middlesex!

We had a a bad experience here. Perhaps it is because we are used to a higher caliber camp. The staff seems to seek out issues to have problems with. They do not listen to the clear and reasonable explanations by campers, they create scenarios to fit their own preconceived determinations as opposed to clearly viewing information. It is as if you are dealing with a group of high schoolers and he said she said, except they are in charge.

Having gone here for 5 years, this is the best camp I have gone to, and I've been to many. The staff are absolutely fantastic and well-trained. The food is homemade and has multiple options for even a picky eater like me. The activities are always enjoyable, I've tried everything! Theres tons of cool places to explore in activities like the Gorge. Every night is different and always entertaining.

For a cheao camp, it was awesome. It had differnt activities every night, including a fun dance. The teen program was better than the junior program, becayse you got to stay up later. The bathrooms were liveable, but a great camp experience.

This will be my 7th summer at camp. I am really excited. I have loved this camp since the first day I was there. Barnyard is so much fun and so it the camp in general. You get so close with everyone there and everyone gets along. Some of my best friends are the friends I met at camp. Every year at the end of my session I am so sad to leave it. If you are trying to find a camp to choose I would choose this one. The staff is friendly. The bathrooms are not great but it is camp not a beauty contest, you can take hot showers and use the bathroom therefore they are fine. There is a hill that is walked up and down everyday because the cabins are on top of the hill and I love it, it may be tough at first but by the end of the session you are so used to it that is doesnt really phase you. Each wednesday you walk to the Ashby band concert, it is a lot of fun. I had a wonderful time every year and I am really looking forward to returning this summer! It will be the best summer so far! Yay Camp!!

This camp is the best ever! I have been going for about 2 years. This year is my thrid! And I can't wait to see the people I met last year and meet new people this year. This year will be my first year in upper camp and I just cant wait! Natalie is the best person You'll ever know from there. Its such an amazing camp and its worth the money. This camp infulences me in many different ways and I hope that some day all the kids that go there get reconized in some way. This camp is a great way to go in life. Everyone thats been has probably been for more than just one year because they loved it so much! You should be glad that there is such a wonderful camp like this! Its just amazing! =] See you there. -Allie.

I went this summer and my counselor was mean. She would always yell at us and didn't really like us much. I am not sure if I will go back next year but if I do, I hope she is going to be there.
