My daughter is relatively new to Girls Inc. and has had a wonderful experience there. She has met many new friends and has participated in the basketball and soccer programs there. She actually looks forward to going to Girls Inc! We haven't experienced anything negative or inappropriate during our 6 months in the program and have had the opportunity to meet the new staff members recently. Since my 7 year old daughter has started this program, I have noticed a boost in her confidence and self esteem. I would definitely recommend this program to others. Also, Girls Inc. has started taking parental input about programs and implementing many of those programs in their curriculum. We are still relatively new to the program, but I look forward to seeing whats in store for the upcoming months at Girls Inc!!!

This program's mission is to empower girls by building self-esteem and encouraging participation in sports, science, math, and abstinence. Unfortunately, there is very little structure and they use worksheets to cover the programs. The adults and staff in the building have a hard time establishing control and play excessively with the girls. They do not screen their staff to find out if they would be a good influence on the girls. One girl on staff bragged about going to juvenile detention and told stories about someone getting drunk and having sex!! They take the girls on spontaneous out of the center trips to Starbucks and ask older campers to take young campers to the bathroom. For me as a parent who wanted to give my tween an empowering experience this was a complete letdown. My husband felt like it was run like a bad public school. If you care about your daughter and have standards for her behaviour skip this camp.
