Click to report rating    8/6/14   5     5     5     5     5   I'm a camper and this is my seventh year going. I've made so many new friends and cannot imagine myself anywhere else during the summer. The staff this year are all so nice and they actually listen to what we (the campers) have to say. What you get out of camp is what you put into it. RID: 47803
Click to report rating    9/5/13   5     5     5     5     5   I am a camper, and 2014 will be my 4th year. Camp North Star is really an experience that gives me something to look forward to all school year. Come here and I guarantee that you will cry at the end. Sue and Jay are fantastic and run the camp in the best way possible. The counselors are very compassionate and helpful in every possible. One of my counselors even helped me with my summer math! The camp itself is beautiful, the food is good for the most part, and the cabins are very nice (with hot water and good shower pressure). At the end of each session, they give out RICHS (respect, independence, caring, honor, spirit, and overall) awards to particular campers. Winning one is a very big accomplishment. RICHS winner or not though, every camper is treated with the same amount of respect and love. YOU WILL HAVE FUN RID: 45932
Click to report rating    7/19/12   5     5     5     5     5   people have their own opinions. But i loved the camp it was amazing. the councilors are so well trained that you can tell that their always on their feet to help a camper if they ever need help or just someone to talk to. Sue and jay ( the owners) went to sleep away camp when they were 8 years old and continued to go for a long time( they met each other at camp). I think its a wonderful camp that is so family friendly. To prove that this camp is really loved one camper named adam brown( we call him downtown) has been going for 15 years! he started when he was 8. Next year in 2013 it will be my 3rd year. I plan to go for a long time. and hope to work their for many years. As i said before, everyone has different experiences and different opinions. so, really people can dislike it or love it. BUT I LOVE IT. I LOVE CAMP NORTH STAR RID: 41799
Click to report rating    7/11/12   1     2     2     1     1   my son was in a cabin where the boys put another boy's head in a toilet. RID: 41657
7/9/12   1     3     4     3     1   Don't send your kids here. Unprofessional, young staff are in charge and the psyche of the kids are at stake. Bullying and inappropriate behavior isn't dealt with. We had to take our children out early and no apologies were made. Our kids left in shame as if they did something wrong. But then again, anyone can buy a camp and hire inexperienced kids to run it. I won't make this kind of mistake again. RID: 41623
Click to report rating    8/1/11   5     5     5     5     5   This was my first year at North Star, and everyone there was so nice and welcoming, after the first 2 days I knew I would NEVER want to leave! And that is how everyone at North Star feels. Everyone, and I mean everyone is soo kind and nice and loving at camp, and what I love most about camp is that it doesn't matter who you are at home, if you're the popular kid or the weird kid or the really smart kid, it doesn;t matter, because at camp you can be yourself and no one judges you. Plus, no matter what activity that you choose out of the soo many, you will ALWAYS have so much fun! The counselers are so amazing, and so are the directors! Everyone knows everyone and if you are new to camp, within 5 mintues of your arival, you will be showered with hugs and friends already! Everyone at camp is just in one word: AMAZING. I wish I could stay at camp forever!! RID: 36576

Click to report rating    7/22/10   4     5     5     5     5   I have had a great time at north star. the first year, I was nervous because my counselors were somewhat inconsiderate. that ended up paying off, as I got closer with my campmates and was prepared for the next year. the second year was fantastic. i would definitely re-live that experience. Click to report rating    7/3/10   5     5     5     5     5   I am a camper at Camp North Star. I've been going there for 2 years, going on 3. I love it there. The people there are like family. The directors, Sue and Jason Goldberg, work really hard to make camp a great place to spend your summer. Every time I leave, I can't wait to get back. They plan awesome Evening Programs like Casino Night, Campfire, Lip Sync, Dances and more! They have theme days like Mustache Monday, Story Day and Goonies Day. They even have off camp trips like the Portland Sea dogs game, White Water Rafting, Hiking. They do a great job of making every day a good time. At the end, we have the Eco Challenge, or the Olympics, where the camp is divided into 3 teams, to compete in different games, based on Eco Challenge or olympics, to win! I love camp, and don't know what else to say about it, if your reading this, and your trying to find a camp for your son or daughter, or both, they're always welcome at Camp North Star. P.S, we have a facebook page! look us up! RID: 33229
