Worst camp, terrible staff, immature ways of handling things. High reviews are often written by people working there, any parent I truly hope you never bring your kid here. Absolutely ruthless verbal abuse and will not improve conditions under any circumstances. In fact, certain members got upset after I sent recommendations on how to improve, talked to me in a down grading way, saying “I don’t know anything” and that my kid is a “liar.” I’m not the Karen type to complain on all things, but I feel like my reasoning was valid, and instead of sticking around I left before I got angry with anybody. My child came home in absolute tears over how they were yelled at and mistreated, and it didn’t change so I had to take them out. Please don’t support this camp.

NEVER BRING YOUR CHILD HERE UNLESS THEY HAVE A SPECIFIC ACTIVITY. I attended this camp with high hopes and stayed there for two weeks. The first week was an all-around camp where you went to an island or something... The first day the counselors yell at kids who can't put on life jackets instead of helping them. We were going on a harnassed swing and the counselor yells at me because I didn't hold on to the ropes correctly. Instead of teaching me they told the other kids to humiliate and yell how I was supposed to do it and let me go once while the others went twice. Food was disgusting so I had to bring my own halfway in. Switched groups only to be yelled at for not finishing my yogurt, and they told me I would have to clean up the messy yogurt bag (that was waterproof btw) even though I'm pretty sure they do that every day anyway. The second week was fishing camp, much nicer and more fun, wasn't good. My sister had a better time the second week having a specific activity as well.

This is the best camp ever and it is totally worth it. It is not like an ordinary sleep away or regular camp because here you get to go all over the area and try activities most camps do not have or if they do you have to go really far away for extensive periods of time. I heard in some of the Calleva camps that there were some really bad counselors but the ones I have experienced were very nice and I have been at the camp for 3 years. For example in kayaking the counselor spent one on one time with me until I got the hang of the wet exit in a wet suit which I was very scared to do at first. The spirit is very high especially with the inclusion with counsel and making new friends is extremely easy even if you are not very social. I never felt board at this camp unlike other camps I have been to. This is a heck of a unique experience and you have to try it out!

I have done the horse back riding camp here. I was at the highest level which I know is much nicer facilities vs. the other levels. Their horses are not trained very well and I could not do much on the horse I was assigned to. The staff are either really nice or quite snotty. But either way, the staff pay more attention to eachother than they do to the campers. The riding time was an hour a day and in groups of 4 and their horses could barely make it through the two campers each toke a day. Something else I didn't like was that they do very weird things. They force you to do weird dances and sing. Its all a bit childish. This camp is great for kids under 11 and just dont do the riding camp. They need new horses.

WORST CAMP EVER! DO NOT GO TO THIS CAMP! Just came back from an overnight trip to this camp and I have never had a worse experience! Staff was rude and annoying and didn't help when you asked for it. Food was nasty. (Soy butter and jelly sandwiches) They make you sleep in tents with 3 other people. Newsflash...4 high schoolers can't fit in a tent! The whole time we were there we were all complaining and trying to figure out a way to get out and get home. Best part of the day was before dinner when we got about 40 min of free time. My advise would be to go to any other camp. This camp doesn't deserve your business.

The staff are pretty nice but once you get older the camp feels really young. The camp days are waaay to long and kids are very tired after. They make you do stuff you wish you hadn't have done. It is a fun camp for 10 and under though!

Staff I have dealt with are pretty darn rude and the counselors not only condone but participate in bullying campers as young as 9. Otherwise, the activities are fun although the kids spend A LOT of time being bused to activities which takes away from time DOING the activity. My kids seem ok with it, but I am getting pretty disenchanted after our experience so far in 2012.

here are some really great staff and some really bad ones. There is definitely a TON of favoritism all around because some kids basically do the camp all summer, every summer. I've only done horseback riding and climbing. Climbing is awesome, especially if your younger. Horseback riding has awful facilities unless your at the highest level they offer, then you go to a totally different place with a nice ring and a cross country course. I was there and even I'll admit that we got special treatment. I've even heard of the advanced kids having their overnight in the director's house and watching movies while everyone else slept outside. However, Some of the staff really do care about you and you make some pretty good friends with some of the staff. My word of advice: PICK A GOOD ACTIVITY! Horse Back Riding, climbing, duncan's adventures, rafting, and adventure island are what I've heard are the best. Horseback riding has about 5 to 7 times the people of the other activities.

It is a great camp, although a little far away, but no problem because you can chose one there designated bus stops and they will drive you/your child there! A great camp with 3 or 4 programs, but not to good if you/your child does not like being outside a lot. ENJOY!!!!
