All 3 of my children have been to Pine Cove at least once during their childhood and they've enjoyed the deepening of their faith, the high energy outdoor fun, and the connection and deep friendships with friends and cabinmates. My middle son loves PC and has attended 7 years. These past two years he went for 2 week sessions, as a rising sophomore and junior. He was very sad to say goodbye to his last summer of pine cove. Three of our friends from church have young adult kids who have become counselors and they adore it.

My child was sick and scared. No one ever contacted me about it, but rather lied to my child about it saying that I had been spoken with and that my reaction was for her to "push through". The head nurse lied to her and to me. My daughter requested repeatedly to speak with me or for someone to call me to pick her up. She sent me messages that were not forwarded. I told several counselors and the nurse that I would gladly pick her up if she wanted me to. No one has the right to decide for myself and my child what is best for us. Also, the website clearly states that no child will be forced to participate in any activity that they do not feel comfortable doing. That is also a lie, as my child who has a fear of horses, was repeatedly forced into situations where these were involved and told that she had no choice but to participate. This is supposed to be a Christian camp, whose ideals follow those of Christ; how can they call themselves Christians if they lie to children?

From the outside view, a parents view, this camp is great, however from a kids perspective the overall atmosphere seems off. I’ve been going to these camps since up till my 8th grade year and while the camps were fun at a young age as I got older the pressure of accepting god and being heavily religious just got worse. I think we had bible study about 3 times a day, and more when you would go to the older camps, which was very overwhelming at a young age to have everyone pressuring you to become apart of their religion. It started to become laughable as I went to other camps when they would make us eat, breath, and sleep jesus. We had bible study at night till about 10pm every night, when we weren’t paying attention we would get in trouble. After a long day of activities and other exhausting religious stuff, sitting and listening to a sermon at 10pm is very difficult. My sister (who also attended) shared that she said in a personal bible study that our dad choosing to be gay was a sin.

Hard to believe a "Christian" camp is run in such a scarcity mindset. I don't even know where to start on the lack of supervision. The kids go to everything including the pool without their counselor. They are free to rome the property. I would expect that from a cheap camp but not something in this price bracket. They pocket the profits and do not invest back in the kids. There were so many issues I am happy to talk with you about privately that I do not wish to disclose online with the counselor being overwhelmed with too many kids to watch over. It is more about the money and where they can save a buck or two. They have more people manning the $$$ gift shop than the kids. I would think twice and be sure to talk to people who do not drink the pine cove Kool-Aid before sending your child there. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. I am sure they get sued more than anyone knows about. The lady who left the review about the child getting sick is dead on.

My daughter has enjoyed this camp multiple years, and there were no issues, but this year she became ill and we were not notified until late in the day. She developed a bad cough and threw up twice. Phone calls to the camp were answered by voicemail, and there was a delayed response, which is annoying and stressful tosay the least. I am a physician, and wanted to talk to a camp doctor, but instead talked to a nurse practitioner, who was very sweet. The camp is strict on the no contact by phone policy regarding kids and parents, which is ridiculous in the setting of illness. She was never tested for Strept, and lay in the infirmary for 5 hours with no water. Her friend's letter, which was not positive, was never delivered. There is apparently heavy censorship of all negative camp related writings (if discovered), which I find bordering on Orwellian and frankly quite disturbing. She will not be going back.

This camp is one of the most amazing places on the planet earth! Last year, I went to PC with my best friend(who has been going there since 2nd grade) and it was my first overnight camp ever! Note- I was going into 8th grade. Anyways, on the way back I was soo sad because I didn't want to leave! That staff were soo amazing and kind and made each and every camper know and feel that they are worth more than gold to God and Camp PineCove!

This camp isn't terrible. I have been going since 6th grade, but you feel like you are in kindergarten every year. It's almost like they try to hypnotize you into being some brainwashed **** Bible child who doesn't care about anything other than Jesus, and ew, Satan! Let's get real: not even talking to parents or reading "worldly" books are allowed because it "obstructs your time with God." The counselors are mostly a bunch of big 1st graders. Not all of them, but some. As a more reserved person, I was very uncomfortable with the nonstop screaming and loud, loud music. If you aren't jumping up and down like a small mentally handicapped child the senior counselor will take you outside and give you a talk. On the bright side, the facilities were clean, the food was good, and there was down time. In my opinion I would not pay all the money for this experience again.

My daughter had gone to other camps for 4 years prior to going to Pine Cove. She said overnight camps were horrible and she would never go again. The summer of 2011 we convinced her to look at Pine Cove online and she reluctantly agreed to go. Now she is a three year veteran of Pine Cove and literally counts down the 51 weeks between her chance to go again. It has been an awesome experience for her, and she has made lifetime memories here. We have recommended this camp to others and all three people who have followed our advice fell in love as well. I highly recommend this camp!

I don't know why people dare to complain about this camp! The counselors are AMAZING! They are silly, fun, AND teach children about Christ! You can even choose your activities if you are not satisfied with some of them. They also DO have down time! They have a special time where campers can nap, read letters from their parents, or write to their parents! It is absolutely fantastic! It doesn't get better than Pine Cove!

I live not too far from Pine Cove, and I grew up going to day camp there in the summer. I absolutely hated it, and I cried every time I had to go to the bus. They are extremely religious, and pressured me to accept Jesus at a very young age. The facilities are nice, but I didn't find the activities to be much fun when I was younger. I have heard the overnight sessions they offer are better than the day camp, but when I was old enough to go to overnight camp, I chose to go somewhere else. I recently returned to Pine Cove for a retreat with my high school, and I can say they have done a good job keeping up the older facilities and adding updates.

I went to this camp with my son and his fifth grade class. it was basically like being a prisonerthe activities were okay but the fact that you had no down time was annoying. they treated the fifth grade class like they were in kindergarten. I don't recommend this camp for anyone trying to have a good time with the kids.save your money find a can't or go camping on your own this place was a nightmare.

This was the first summer that my two boys went to summer camp and they had the time of their lives. The staff was great, they loved the activities and the facilities and grounds were first rate. I loved that I was able to easily get a scholarship so that my kids could attend camp. I definitely am looking forward to sending them back next summer.

Pinecove is the best camp for all age kids. I have sent all 3 of my kids here for over 5 years. Each one has a different personality and they all love it. It has been life changing for them. The activities are more fun than just playing sports, like I have seen at other camps. The counselors are so energetic and really care about the kids. My kids have grown in their faith because of the fun and kid friendly way that Pinecove presents the gospel.

Fun activities and a good value. I just can't get over the fact that they confiscated my summer reading books and told me I was only allowed to read the Bible. Give me a break.

I've gone to Pine Cove for 8 years now. It's amazing and they handpick the counselors from around the country. They teach you so much about Jesus while having so much fun doing things like banana boating on the lake and doing high ropes and swimming in their pool. It's the favorite part of my summer! I would recommend it to anyone!

This camp is ok for a one week experience. My child has gone 2 summers and in both experiences the cabin counselor was at best - mediocre. Disappointing because when we have gone to family retreat or parent/child conference (several times) the staff has been great. My child was injured at camp which is understandable, but did not receive medical attention until after lunch the next day even though the injury was brought to his counselor's attention the night before. It required a trip to Tyler that confirmed broken bones. The story changed several times as to how he was hurt and the nurse acted put-out when asked to re-read the Tyler hospital's 1 paragraph medical report over the phone. I spoke with the director at the end of camp and was not satisfied with his response as to how his staff had handled the situation. Others love this camp, but we are sending our kids to another camp this summer.

My 10 yr old son went to the Towers this summer and absolutely loved it. This was his first experience going to an overnight camp and the staff did a great job making him feel comfortable. He wants to go back for another week later this summer.

I went to the ranch and it was ok but then I went to the Shores and it was AWFUL. It felt like I was back in the 5th grade absolutely nothing changed. if you get homesick DO NOT GO TO THIS CAMP!!! I did and they won't even let you talk to your parents! I don't go to many camps but I can say that there are better ones out there. Save your money and go somewhere else!
