There was one with a water trampoline, and a treetop adventure course ending with a zip line. There were many hundreds of kids, all shouting and doing cheers and activities all the time. He did not want to leave but I sent him to Killooleet, where instead of constant stimulation, he slowed down, heard the silence and stillness of nature, and grew close with the few hundred campers who form the small commmunity. And he came back changed: more grounded, more calm. He missed a year to the pandemic, where he did what all the kids did: worked on his computer and played video games. But the next summer he came home and let his Minecraft account lapse. He told me that while at Killooleet he remembered that he would rather be outside being active than staring at a screen. He never went back to the video games. RID: 53724

Click to report rating    10/28/11   5     5     5     5     5   Killooleet is a very special place, our children each had the most wonderful experience there; one was a "two-yearer" and one went the full amount of years and was so very sad thinking he could not return next year. BUT Killooleet is also a place where lifelong friendships are formed, alumni/alumnae return to work there, the camp outreach is well maintained and enthusiastic; and then there's the Sing in NYC every year for reunions. The staff are bright and caring, the adventures wonderful, and the memories special. RID: 37170

Click to report rating    12/5/10   5     5     5     5     5   camp killooleet is the time of anyone's life. it is amazing and is unreplacible. the staff is welcoming and from the first minute i was there camp killooleet made me feel as i was home! i absolutely love it there and words can't even describe the that are felt at the eight weeks of total fun and joy. all the different types of people are welcomed and valued, the craft, theater ans athletics program are top notch and making sure every one feels happy and comfortable are the top priority. even though i was a new camper and it took a little while to get accustom to the daily routine i felt that i was getting it. the last weeks of camp stay with you for the rest of your life. happy tears streaming down everyone faces as we all scream "hey Jude" and huddle together, or look out across the lake, again crying and marveling at the beautiful sight of the candle boats forming together as one, one large family, together forever. like a camp fire different, and lovely in it's own way. thank you ca RID: 34536

Click to report rating    5/31/10   5     4     5     5     5   killooleet is not your regular camp. people say it doesnt have as good fasilitys or as many nice activities like water skiing. thats because were not rich wasps that pay over priced amounts to do activities your suposed to do on vacation. were a comunitie you will want to remember till the day you die.killoooleetis the most unjudgeing, loveing, peacfull camp and my home. Click to report rating    5/4/10   1     2     2     2     2   I think that this camp is great for your kid if they like small communities. I didn't love it because i'm someone who loves extremely big, glamorous places. The activities i think are very limited here. Unlike other camps, there isn't huge soccer fields, lacross, gymnastics, a huge lake with amazing activities like water skiing, and other things. RID: 32702

Click to report rating    6/15/09   5     5     5     5     5   Camp. Lets face it- its a pretty hard decision choosing one for your kid. I'm telling you right here that Killooleet is probably right for you, or your kid. It has such a diverse community, that is so accepting. It is 7,8 weeks away from your family, but the camp has been going on for so long, the counselors know how to deal with it! Also it gives you a real chance to bond with absolutely everyone around you. I keep in contact with all of my friends from camp, all throughout the year. Most of my best friends I've met at camp. Its such a loving community as well. You don't really understand unless you go. There are so many opportunities for you at camp, its mind boggling. You (or your child) will come back from camp so excited about so many things, and with many new interests. I didn't get to go my first year, and thats a bit sad, but the good thing is that whatever age you are everyone is so accepting and loving. This year I'll be in cabin 8 (3rd year), and i'm counting the days (14). RID: 30067
Click to report rating    9/18/08   5     5     5     5     5   omg this camp changed my life forever. it was an amazing experience and the best of my life. i don't know how ill be able to live without it. so far, ive cryed almost everyday since i got back. Killooleet = life. everybody is so amazing and nice, and its the perfect camp. lots of my friends talk about their camp as horrible, and i say mine is perfect. it is the utopia of my life and is my 1st home. every day i think about how everybody is so accepting and nice and amazing and generous and funny and talented (even if your not, it doesnt matter) and hysterical and amazing and i cant tell you enough how amazing it is. Click to report rating    8/23/08   5     5     5     5     5   I love this camp!! Its the greatest camp in the world. It's like a second home for me. When i went there i didnt sleep over a lot and the councleurs helped me when i got homesick but i didnt get home sick often!!! RID: 25999
Click to report rating    6/16/08   5     5     5     5     5   I've never been to Killooleet, and to those of you who are reading this, I'm NOT CRAZY! I'm going in about a week and a half. My Aunts (2 of them), and my dad went there for 4 years. I'm SUPER excited, because my luggage was just picked up 20 minutes ago. The ratings above are what I've been TOLD, not what I've actually experienced. The only down side about this camp is that you HAVE to go for 7 weeks, which is hard on first time campers such as myself. Even though everyone tells me I won't want to leave at the end (which is probably true), It's still a bit nerve racking. What makes it more scary for me is that I DON'T KNOW ANYONE!!! Enough with the negatives, and back to the positives. Everybody said that since it's such a small camp, you really make one-on-one connections with the people around you. And to the person who said bad things about Killooleet, the rating for this camp would be all 5's without you, so thanks a lot! Go to Killooleet in 2009, and maybe I'll see you there! RID: 23907
Click to report rating    6/9/08   5     5     5     5     5   The one summer I spent at Camp Killooleet was amazing, life-changing, and kept me yearning for more. In just 19 days I'll be back in the lush valley among my best friends, my cabin mates. I had a wonderful time last year, playing sports, commando raids, barter day, singing, and being in such a tight-knit community. The 7 1/2 weeks will stay with you forever, and it is definitely worth the money spent. Words can't even describe the intense love and longing I feel towards camp . I cried the entire last week and have counted down the days until the next summer. I'll be devastated when my time is up, but I hope I can come back as a kitchen/laundry/maintenance girl and then as a councilor someday. To all who are considering sending their children, please DO. They will come back as better, developed people with an experience of a lifetime. What more can I say? Killooleet was the best thing that ever happened to me. I love you camp Killoleet and everything affiliated with your wonderfulness. RID: 23713
Click to report rating    5/29/08   5     5     5     5     5   This camp made my children into confident, capable, loving, and deep thinking kids. The atmosphere encourages children to try new things without fear of criticism. It stresses respect and empathy for one another, and a sense of responsibility for keeping up the grounds, the activities and spirit. If you want your kids to become better people and also have tons of fun and success, this is the place. And the green mountains are breathtaking. Vermont is clean and peaceful and full of history. The directors and smart, psychologically minded, accessible and kind. They want the kids to be as happy but also as busy and active as can be. I wish I were a kid again so that I could go to this special place and try things I have never done before. RID: 23466
Click to report rating    5/26/08   3     1     1     4     3   It was ok. Barley any variety in activities and not much to do. The counclers weren't very on top of it, but as the camp was insanly small, there is individual attention. RID: 23416

Click to report rating    12/13/07   5     5     5     5     5   Killooleet has been so great for my kids. They cry when it is time to come home and count the days until the next summer. They matured and became much more independent after camp. It is worth every penny. RID: 17980
Click to report rating    11/25/07   5     5     5     5     5   One of the great experiences in any childs life. A great place of learning for both campers and counselors to grow together. Broad arrange of activities thta let children experience many new things for the first time in a safe and supportive commuinty. Teaches the value of respect, responsibility, community, and others points of view. RID: 17410

Click to report rating    7/20/07   5     5     5     5     5   I was a camper there between 1969 and 1972. My cousin was a camper in the mid sixties and both his kids were campers, and later counselors in the 80s and 90s. It was the best 4 summers of my life. I'm 48, and still remember it like it were yesterday. I only wish I was 10 again so I could do it all over again. RID: 13135
