Click to report rating    7/26/18   1     1     1     1     1   There is no zero so i have to gave one star. DONT GO TO THIS CAMP My son got bone fracture (really bad one) at the first day or camp and after my son's injury they completely shut down the play structure and raised the teacher to student ratio. COO of camp Chirs is rude and unsupportive and kept emphasizing that it is a freaking accident. Lunch provided by the camp is trash, and the management is so poor that they let students running around the whole afternoon without applying for sunscreen. Worst camp ever. RID: 52086
Click to report rating    7/12/13   1     1     2     1     1   my 5 year old son attended this camp at the chabot elementary location. the website claims their staff are "professional teachers, child development specialists, artists, athletes, scientists, software engineers." this is a complete lie. all the counselors were college students, most in the first year or two. most lacked any formal or informal experience in education. when it came time for a snack, my son was only allowed to eat one item for his snack. i had packed 3 different snacks and he was told he had to choose only 1 type of food to eat at snack time. so he went hungry. then the meals i had paid for through choicelunch were incorrect and on 1 day they ran short and my son had no lunch at all. the curriculum is not challenging or innovative. when my son made a jesters hat i said "and then did they try them on and act like jesters?" the camp director and counselor looked surprised. apparently, that was an absurd idea. i was told that wasn't their curriculum. Click to report rating    5/22/13   2     1     1     1     1   The staff was poorly trained, very young and inexperienced. My daughter said kids misbehaved constantly and the staff didn't know what to do with them. Not all activities advertized were available due to materials unavailable. No explanation was given why. The classes were very crowded. The kids had fun, but the value for the amount just wasn't there. RID: 44556
Click to report rating    12/30/12   1     1     1     1     1   They hired young, inexperienced staff who were unprepared for the chaos of a first day at camp. My daughter was confused and upset and did not enjoy her time there. My close friend who is an experienced classroom teacher (20 years teaching) was passed over for a position at this camp because she was deemed "not a good fit". If an experienced teacher is "not a good fit" then who is? I suspect they didn't want to look bad because she was clearly more knowledgeable than they were and would have been aware that the camp was poorly run. RID: 43281
Click to report rating    5/10/12   1     1     1     1     1   Hated this camp! Staff was miserable all the time! Facilities smelled terrible! RID: 41009
Click to report rating    5/7/12   5     5     5     5     3   The camp is very innovative. While many other camps can also claim to be educational and fun Galileo far exceeds them. They exercise the mind, body and spirt. They develop critical thinking skills in Science which America desperately needs to develop. At the same time they teach art and creativity programs that are lacking in schools these days. Finally they appreciate the value of getting kids moving. Moreover the staff is well trained and goes above and beyond. I will concede that the camp is on the pricer side however, I know from talking to the staff that they offer scholarships. This practice is also a good learning tool for all the campers since many of them live and go to school in homogeneous settings. Galileo individualizes their education and attention for each child's needs which also teaching then the importance of working in the greater world. I would recommend this place RID: 40972

Click to report rating    6/16/08   1     2     3     1     1   They gave wrong directions to the camp and they had no list of which kids had paid for the after-care portion. My son sat in the carpool area for 40 mins. before he took himself back to aftercare. They also had no sign-out sheets so anyone could have come by and taken him. Very inexperienced staff who really don't care. I had great concern for any childs safety in their care. RID: 23910
Click to report rating    2/11/08   5     5     5     5     4   GREAT summer camp. Really interesting activities. My son built a Mars Rover to try to keep an egg inside from breaking when dropped from 10 feet high. The science of space exploration came alive for him that week. The staff is full of young, energetic, really bright kids I would love to see my kids look up to and emulate. RID: 20188
Click to report rating    10/6/07   5     5     5     5     5   Cool place to chill with friends Awesome activities My favorite summer camp Please let me go back again next year Good, clean summer fun A good place to make memories Love it I made new friends Love the consolers, teacher and director Excellent location = Menlo Park Outstanding RID: 15978
Click to report rating    9/28/07   5     5     5     5     5   The staff is very well trained and kid friendly. Overall they are responsible. The facilties were clean, in a safe area and the actual classrooms were attractivly decorated. The activties my child did were fun and entertaining at the same time which was great as it maintained their learning skills durring the summer. The personal attention paid to my son was appropiate. They paid enough attenton to him so he felt conforatble, safe and confindent but also gave him responsbility. Since he was going into the 6th grade after the summer this was a big posotive. The monetary value was fair abd better priced then other camps. Especially given all the camps posotive asspects. I only have one neagtive thing to say about the camp. I think that the camp should not cut interested clients off after their children leave 5ht grade. Other then that the camp is a very good one. I wish their were a camp like this when I was growing up. I would give the camp 10 out of 10. I love the Menlo Park Location! RID: 15654
