Click to report rating    9/16/17   5     5     5     5     5   I am so happy at Camp Nokomis! The 2017 summer was amazing! I went all summer for the first time! It was my 5th summer at camp and I had so much fun! I got to know new people and became even better friend with old ones! I'm very excited to go back next summer and see all my old friends and meet new ones! I have so many great friendships that will last forever because of camp! I am sad though because my friends and I are getting old and they won't/can't come back. This summer I also had 2 amazing counselors and 2 amazing CITs over this summer. The activities were as amazing as ever and I'm so happy I went all summer. The food was so amazing this summer. I can't wait to go back! RID: 51347
Click to report rating    2/9/17   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Nokomis is my favorite place in the world. This summer will be my 7th summer, and I will be part of the Aide/CIT program, or counselor-in training program, they have for 16-17 year olds. In addition to being able to spend 2+ weeks on gorgeous Lake Winnipesaukee, you also get to meet your best friends and have tons of fun. You get to be super close with your cabin and your counselors. Every staff member is so genuinely happy to be there and loves their job. Honestly, the attitude is infectious! The showers and bathrooms aren't top-notch, but you have to keep in mind that the camp is operating on an island and there's only so much you can do if a situation arises. Honestly, just take a shower directly after dinner and the water'll be fine. Speaking of dinner, the food is great and it tastes 10x better when you're hungry from the day's activities. The camp also has some amazing weekly or yearly traditions. Definitely send your daughter to Camp Nokomis. RID: 50423

10/10/12   5     4     5     5     5   camp nokomis is the best camp ever. i was crazy nervous my first time there. but right as i got of the boat my counselors made me feel right at home. i was in cabin 11. i went for 2 weeks but this year im going for 1 month. the lake can be cold but on hot days its realy nice. the showers are either really really hot or really really cold. but this year i think were getting warmer showers. be sure to bring a mattress pad your really gonna need it. the evening programs are really fun to.the food is great but you cant be two picky. even if you are there are still alot of choices. i cant wait to go back to camp this summer. my only complaint about this camp is the mornings because the make you get up a 7 and i didnt really like that but otherwise dont be nervous at all its a great camp and you will have a great time. julia keizler cabin 11 session 1 <3<3<3 RID: 42846

5/31/12   5     5     5     5     5   My daugther will be going to Camp Nokomis for her second time this summer. She is very excited, to say the least. In my opinion, as a mom, this is the perfect place for a young girl. The setting is tranquil and beautiful, the staff are caring, the other girls (even the older ones) are nice to each other and the activities are wonderful. My daughter particularly loves the water sports, especially being able to water ski. Last summer she took part in so many different kinds of activities and she discovered new areas that she loves. I like the fact that they learn new skills, but still have good, old-fashioned, down-to earth fun. And did I mention that she liked the food! The bottom line is that we are very lucky to have discovered this camp. Her one and only complaint was that Lake Winapisaukee is very cold. Highly reccommend this place. RID: 41163

5/16/12   5     5     5     5     5   There is a reason I have gone to this camp for 7 years and thats because its perfect. I feel like now it is the only place where I can truly be me. There is no cliques i don't know what other people are saying. Everyone is friendly. Camp showers aren't supposed to be top notch; this is not your home. With experience you'll figure out when to shower and go to the bathroom. When your younger, you won't want to take swim lesson because of the cold lake, but now as a senior I realize how vital they are. I actually learned how to swim here with just two weeks for 6 years! You have to send your kids here if they are going to get the full experience. RID: 41064
Click to report rating    6/27/11   5     5     5     5     5   Friendships forever, fun staff, great activities, good food, amazing setting, always having the time of your life :) nokomis is the ideal camp RID: 36220
Click to report rating    5/1/11   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Nokomis is not the kind of camp that you don't want to came back to! It's the kind of camp where people make friends and do activities and also enrich skills and learn new ones while having fun at the same time! If you don't think that's possible then maybe you should come to camp and experience it yourself! If you are thinking of going anywhere else for camp then let me tell you something, CAMP NOKOMIS IS AWESOME!!! RID: 35791
Click to report rating    2/4/11   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Nokomis is my favorite place in the world. You get a fresh beginning to start all over each summer and meet the best friends of your lifes. I have never found this camp "cliquey" or scary they give you an option the go on rainy days. I am counting the days til next summer this will be my 5th summer and i will apply to be an Aide. The leadership team is beyond amazing and if you don't like an activity after the first two days you can switch without a single problem. If you are considering any other camp your crazy. Camp Nokomis teaches lessons, and values. You learn to love yourself and others. I come halfway across the country to attend this camp summer after summer some people come from even other countries. I would reccomend going two weeks youer first summer but after you see why we all love it so much going 4 weeks, 6 weeks, or 8 weeks even seems to short. The camp fills up fast though so make sure you sign up in early october. Hope this helps :D RID: 35014

6/5/10   5     4     5     5     5   I have been going to Camp Nokomis since I was 9 and my 3 years going have all been fantastic. The facilities are alright. But who expects top-notch bathrooms & showers at summer camp? The showers are cold unless you know the right time to shower which is kept confidental. The staff are amazing most having been campers themselves they know exactly what a first time camper maybe going through. So don't be nervous they understand if you are homesick which is very unlikely in this family style atmosphere. Being a vegetarian I didnt expect many options for food. But they have a salad bar every lunch & dinner and they really strive to meet every campers needs.Having a July bday, i really didn't want to have it at camp, but b-days are so fun the whole camp sings to u and you get a cake! I consider myself one of the luckiest people having discovered camp Nokomis through a mutual friend. Bottom line is, Camp Nokomis will be one of the greatest times of your life & u will meet some great people. RID: 32913

4/11/10   5     4     5     5     5   As a camper for 9 years and former staff, not enough can be said for how this camp provides self confidence and support for girls of all walks of life. Even in the mundane moments where the campers clean their own cabins together or kindly stack dishes to make it easier for their "waitress" to carry away, campers learn to appreciate the core values of this YMCA camp, and the values that help set them up for their lives; caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. All this (mind you) in the beautiful setting of lake winnipesaukee, where campers enjoy all sorts of water activities and just as many sport or craft activities on the pine scented island. The staff are caring, attentive, and superbly trained. If you are a parent looking for a great experience for your daughter, you need look no further. http://www.mvymca.org/camping/camps/c... Click to report rating    7/9/09   5     5     5     5     5   I love this camp. Every year i look forward to it. The counselors are there to make your camping experience better. Click to report rating    6/21/09   5     4     5     5     5   I loved my experience at Camp Nokomis. I went there when i was 13 and 14 and i still love it. i'm 19 now and i totally wanna go back and be a councilor or something! i LOVE camp nokomis. RID: 30171
Click to report rating    6/17/09   5     5     5     5     5   This is going to be my fifth year! I love everything except mandatory swimming, but swimming is important so I guess I'll live. RID: 30091
Click to report rating    5/26/09   4     4     5     4     4   So i love camp nokomis. this comming year will be my 7th summer being at camp nokomis. pretty much all you need to know is camp is a great time. sure the bathroom tolets might clog but com'on over 200 girls use the bathrooms everyday and we're not perfect. the showers are mostly cold unless you go during a certain time of the day(which im not telling because its a secret kept with us senoirs):P but yeah camp food is alright but they ALWAYS have a salad bar and vegatarian stuff in the middle bar so its not all meet. the desserts are pretty amazing. like CONGO BARS <33 (peanutbutter and chocolate..like reses but better) and then theres CHIPWICHES <333 (a chocolate chip cookies with ice cream in the middle) then spiders <333 its very rare when we have those. but over all camp is amazing and you meet your best friends there. i love camp with all my heart. i do have some complaints but who dosnt? like some of the counslers have favorates. and it sucks but i wouldnt want to go anywhere else RID: 29847
Click to report rating    1/21/09   5     3     4     4     5   it was very cliquey ecspecialy in 07 session 3 there was a middler pulling down all of the jrs pants so all of the juniors held hands and locked up the middlers untill they apologized RID: 28677
Click to report rating    12/30/08   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Noko is AMAZING!!!! Sure it can be kind of cliquey, but all of the girls I know are very welcoming. You do have to live in a cabin with at least 12 other people, my cabin had 15, but its really fun and everyone becomes really close. The bathrooms and showers might not be the best in the world but its CAMP!! Anyways at least they aren't latrines, I used to go to a camp where only two units had easy access to the flushies(regular bathrooms). You can also shower when you want to, at the camp with latrines, we were lucky to shower twice a week. The food is also great, there is a ton of choices so if you don't eat something like meat then you always are able to get enough food. I love Camp Noko, can't wait for next year!!!! RID: 28216

P.s dont be nervous if its gonna be your first year you will have a great time. I was in cabin 9 -Maddie W<3 RID: 27791

Click to report rating    8/30/08   5     5     5     5     5   I love this camp! Everyone, including the staff, is so nice. The facilities are clean, and the activities are well developed. RID: 26231
Click to report rating    7/13/08   3     4     4     3     3   Gorgeous setting. a bit cliqueish though; hard to get to know people. Switched to Hi Rock in Mass and very very happy now! RID: 24806
Click to report rating    7/4/08   5     5     5     5     5   I lovvvveee Camp Nokomis! It's such an awesome camp-this will be my second summer going-but its still sooooo awesome!!! A few downs, but nothing that keeps it from being amazing! You won't regret going there! RID: 24580
Click to report rating    6/23/08   4     4     5     4     5   I had soooooo much fun. The staff is great and they really try to make you enjoy the camp experience. The activities were fun and paced about right for me. Swimming in the rain was great. Cabins were ok..matresses were pretty bad, bring a sleeping bag for padding.I will always remember my time at Nokomis as a gas of a time. I wish I could go back this year. RID: 24173
Click to report rating    6/12/08   3     2     4     4     5   THIS CAMP IS THE BEST CAMP I'VE EVER BEEN TO! sure, they make you swim in the freezing water, in freezing temperatures, and in the rain, but the people are amazing and the activities are so fun and you make so many friends. i'm from new york, and most people there are from mass, conn, or new hampshire, so its rli cool to meet different people and not have to worry about looking good to impress boys or w/e and having to constantly act the way i do at home. at camp, i cant be who i am inside all the time and still fit in. trust me, you will love this camp!!! RID: 23804
Click to report rating    4/9/08   1     3     4     2     4   no offence to the people who like this camp but i hated it. Most of the girls are realy mean and they are realy cliquey. the activities are fun but the instructers and counclers are not verry nice and choose favorites. Also the beds squeek like no tommorow. basicly unless u like mean people and sucky beds dont go RID: 22136
Click to report rating    3/15/08   5     3     4     3     5   it's a fun camp..sometimes i didn't like the girls in my cabin though. store is one of the best things at camp!! it's really fun. could use better bathrooms/showers. i think i would go for the whole summer if they had nice bathrooms and hot showers without them being concrete cubicles. good camp in general though!! RID: 21315
Click to report rating    2/18/08   3     4     5     4     5   This Camp was OK. I didn't like some of the staff and the food was just mediocre. The good thing is that they offer alot of activities even during a rainy day. I didn't like the 12 grls in the cabin thing, though, because if there is someone that kind of bugs you or there are any slobs, there really isn't anything you can do. I also didn't like some of the cliques. RID: 20410
Click to report rating    12/30/07   5     4     5     5     5   <3333 CAMP NOKOMIS next years going to be my 6th year its amazing !!! people say you have to swim it the rain thats not true you get a choice and the mattresses aren't amazing but bring and egg crate. You meet the best friends there. The activities are so fun its a great experience you get a chance to do things you cant do any where else. Best activities are silver , waterskiing, and drama!!! it goes bye so fast though. The staff is great lots of good memories here RID: 18454
Click to report rating    4/30/07   5     5     5     5     5   Camp nickomis helped my child make friends now my daughter Franchesca is doing better in school thanks to camp nokomis RID: 10326
Click to report rating    3/11/07   4     5     5     4     5   WELL WORTH IT! NOKOMIS was the best, so many summer memories, some rules are useless, but other then that FUN!!! My mom went here, my sisters and i went here, and our kids will come to NOKOMIS!! Family place, good values, not to mention it is BEAUTIFUL! sometimes i wish i could spend every summer at NOKOMIS, but now im in college, and i drive by sometimes, on my boat and remember the good times...send your kids here for the best summers of their lives! The camp is clean, and well kept, the food it nutritious and good, with a lot of options for allergies and vegetarians/ vegans... You can do anything from waterskiing to silver jewelry making; having the boys camp on the other side of the island is great for activities too, like using their ropes course. The tradition at Nokomis is great to, some things never change! The camp takes the kids on adventures in the White Mountains, like hiking and camp outs, its more then just a summer camp, it is NOKOMIS! RID: 8518
