the best 5 summeres of my life were here. There it was like family. I can't belive its over. From annoiny the staff as a joke some who actually hated us for doing it but others who loved it. I will never forget the friends and people and i met there. I wish the best ofr the debauns and evryone else

This camp is absolutely amazing I've been going here forever and loved every second! I would love to continue my camping experience but unfortunately it has come to and end and is now closing!

i love debaun and always have, this will be my 11th summer and i will not stop going,even though sometimes all i wanted to do was leave. The staff is amazing and The DeBauns are also extremely nice. DeBaun Rocks!

My son has attended camp there for 3 summers, he also attended the Nursery school there. The DeBaun Family is AMAZING, very caring people. The camp has been SO much fun for my son, he looks forward to it every year! I will be sending my younger son there next summer, it has been a GREAT experience. Pricey, yes, but isn't EVERYTHING in NY pricey?? CAnnot get a better camp for the price as well as the attention and FUN activities that the children are exposed too.

Run the other way! The owners are entirely too politically correct, I guess mostly because of the wealthy parents who dump their kids there for the summer. The schedule is poorly planned.

i went to debaun for 5 years before sleepaway, there was a really good swim program-- i had a good time not with me, but girls could be really exclusive even at age 6... i liked it i think

The pay is absolutely terrible for the amount of effort you put in as a counselor. The parents are simply not aware of how much work you do, and they presume that the pay is ample since the camp is relatively expensive (many of them do not realize how much counselors count on end of the summer tips). A lot of the counselors attend local colleges, and I did not feel as though I fit in as a counselor attending an out of state competitive university - Just something to think about before deciding to work here.

I have been at camp debaun for 14 years (6 of which i have been a counselor and 7 a camper). It is really the best camp on the south shore of long island. The staff is the best. So committed to their jobs. Everyone loves to be there and be part of the debaun family!

DEBAUN= MINE AND ALMOST EVERY1S CHILDHOOD CAMP. GOOD MEMORIES COME FROM THAT PLACE AND THAT WAS THE MOST FUN IN MY CHILDHOOD LIFE. I HAVE MOVED ON TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP NOW (FRENCH WOODS FESTIVAL-BEST PLACE ON EARTH) BUT DEBAUN WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY MEMORIES AND MY HEART. GREEEEEAAATT DAY CAMP, AND I DUNNO WAT THERE TALKIN ABOUT WHEN THEY SAY "NOT ENOUGH ACTIVITYS" CUZZ THERES MORE THAN ENOUGH!!!

I have worked for DeBaun for years....sometimes the upper staff does not truly aknowledge the counselors that are amazing and the kids enjoy. To much of the time is it that they hire certain counselors who are close to the owners or someone else heading the camp. It is to my experience that i can state that when workers are well conpenstated and encouraged; they will be motivated to do a good job. That is what keeps some of the cousnsleors lazy but this should not be tolerated. Overall, some of the unit heads need to be changed and childrens voices should be heard. Some of the children who just come out of junior camp have too much of a immature schedule and they notice and do not like it. The kids are who are important. Sometimse since children have attended since they were young they create a click and when a new member joins the camp it is difficult for them to be accepted. Something should be done. OVERALL FOR THE CAMP OUT OF 5 IT IS A 3.5 ITS NOT HORRIBLE BUT NEED CHANGE

Its a nice camp but very small with very few activities. The staff is nice and the owners as well , theres just not enough activities to keep the campers busy everyday all summer long without them getting bored easily.

Our sons began their camping experience at Camp DeBaun prior to going to sleep-a-way camp. It is a small but well equiped camp on the southshore. Both boys enjoyed the activities and attention they were given. A liitle pricey though.
