Upon arriving at camp we realized it was not what we expected at all. The counselors were not welcoming to the girls. Four seven year olds in a cabin by themselves- staff 4 cabins away from them. The girls told us that there were rats and that a special spray was used at night in there cabins to try and keep them out. They saw these rats running through the main building. This was not a good experience to say the least for my daughter and I am sure because of this camp she will never want to go to another stay over camp again. I just want other parents to know before hand what to expect and I wish I had personally checked out or inquired more about the environment before I sent my child there, now I just regret having put her in this terrible situation. I just thought that being a girls Scouts camp that it would be a great start for a first time camper.. WRONG! No Compassion from counselors, No assistance whatsoever! What happened to Girl Scout Code? Wasn't practiced here! Upset Mom

I was a camper here and was shocked to see how little camp traditions meant after asking my daughter about her camp experience. She told me the counselors ignored them to talk to eachother. The only staff she seemed to like were the specialized staff such as the pool and barn staff and she disliked the director completely telling me she yelled at one little girl for not putting her feet in the pool. This camp is not the best and I will be sending my child elsewhere next summer.

This is a Girl Scout camp on the Brazos river. My daughter (9) went for her first time. She is a girly-girl and I was concerned because when I dropped her off the camp was was "primitive". The facilities are nice, but no-frills. Instead, it's about relationships and trying new things. I was VERY impressed with the councelors. How can you not be happy 20-22 year old college students who were life-long Girl Scouts. My daughter had the time of her life (although she said they 'walked too much'). I would highly recommend this to ANY Girl Scout.
