Click to report rating    10/12/21   2     4     5     1     3   PROS: Camp activities correlate with the categorized age groups and the staff (majority are parents of enrolled campers- Family and family affiliates of the business) have a super-friendly demeanor and are very welcoming. One Lead Counselor, Donna was an absolute doll and my son really gravitated to her. I can tell he trusted her and depended on her based on the information provided by the division supervisor. CONS: Certain Staff and mostly Camp counselors (older campers who have grown up in the program) struggle to uphold versatile dispositions when dealing with diversity. As a result, I saw first-hand how this affected the camps suitability to accommodate my child. To ALL Parents: As a parent, If you have a hyper-active child and are able to provide additional support for him/her by having a chaperone present to assist him/her (which is allowed) in the program then, it is safe to consider, if affordable. Click to report rating    3/26/13   5     5     5     5     5   Our daughter had the best summer! She raved about the activities and staff. The price was about the same as other camps around us. We fell in love with the place on our tour. Everyone we met was super friendly, it felt like home. We cant wait to go back this summer!! RID: 44087
Click to report rating    3/6/13   5     5     5     5     5   Rolling River Day Camp is second to none at providing my children the most exciting and fun 8 weeks every summer. I feel like my family is also a part of the RRDC family, and its not just for the 8 weeks the kids are there in the summer. By providing added extras like the fall and spring festivals & date nights for parents, it’s felt all year long. Each day at RRDC brings something new and it makes my kids WANT to get up early to get there. Themed weeks, special guests, great trips, surprise events, new sports. Even “regular” camp days are special because the staff is just so fantastic-they truly understand how to make going to camp at RRDC an experience unlike any other. RRDC is a place where my children have an amazing experiences & learn about themselves and how to be better people. The children I send to camp each summer come back as different kids, and I am forever grateful for the experiences that RRDC has provided and will continue to provide my family in years to come RID: 43902
Click to report rating    3/5/13   5     5     5     5     5   Rolling River Day Camp is a wonderful place. My kids have been growing up there in the summertime and as a staff member, I have had nothing but amazing experiences. This camp offers kids a safe, fun and loving environment to explore both new and old activities. My kids and I love going to RRDC and would encourage anyone to try it. I know my children love it there because they talk about camp all year long. During the dull days of winter, they are watching the video yearbook and are singing the color war songs. I have never thought twice about my decision to be at Rolling River. We are all a family there and that truly shows when you step foot on the grounds. We LOVE Rolling River! RID: 43893

12/3/12   5     4     5     5     5   A true stable of the community! My kids have attended a few other camps in the area but have found a home at Rolling River. The Goodman’s are compassionate, hardworking and fun people. The counselors take their job to heart and go above and beyond to make sure their campers are having a blast. My sons love riding the banana boats in the river. No other camp on Long Island has such a facility for boating. They can’t wait to go back each summer and I know they will be in safe, fun environment. RID: 43145
Click to report rating    3/11/12   1     1     1     1     1   This camp is terrible and a total waste of money. Any person who has a true sense of a dollar will laugh as soon as they step foot onto the camp's property. To call this a camp is a travesty. The place is smaller than my home! They are charging thousands of dollars which may I remind you is non-refundable. So, if your kid comes home after the first week b/c the camp is small, old, and they are not spending money on the kids....nothing you can do! Trust me, let the owners squirm - they seem to be rotten people who only care about dressing nice and driving expensive cars to justify their ego which is obviously in the wrong class. RID: 40498
Click to report rating    3/19/10   5     5     5     5     5   I have been a parent and staff member for 15 years. My child always had the best time and became a counselor. The staff is a family. The owners have become part of our family. As far as the below mentioned situation, I believe that it was handled with professionalism and tact. We were all contacted that DAY, and the person in question was fired. The children were NEVER in danger, and I think you are out of line to mention names. You OBVIOUSLY were NOT paying attention to the mail that was sent home. As far as the deposit, I read my contract and it's on there...you should not have signed the contract without reading it. Those are the conditions - like it or not. I think that people are making too much of such an insignificant part of the camp experience. Did you child have a good time? Did they make new friends and learn new things?Dollars can't take the place of the life lessons that my daughter learned at Rolling River. Rolling River ROCKS! RID: 32402
Click to report rating    3/10/10   1     1     1     1     1   All Business, about your money, read the contract terms: A $600 DEPOSIT MUST ACCOMPANY THIS ENROLLMENT CONTRACT. $300 OF THE DEPOSIT IS A NON-REFUNDABLE SERVICE CHARGE. A second payment of $600 is due on November 14, 2009. A third payment of $600 is due on February 1, 2010. Failure to make the 2nd or 3rd payments by the due dates will result in a $200 additional charge. $900 of the deposit is non-refundable after March 1, 2010. A request for cancellation must be made in writing. A deposit cannot be applied to a different camper’s tuition upon cancellation. Full tuition for discounted rates is payable by March 27, 2010. If balance is not paid in full by March 27, 2010, the family will be billed an additional $200 per month until bill is paid in full. Entire tuition is non-refundable after May 1, 2010. RID: 32315
10/17/09   2     2     1     3     1   My child has attended this camp for 7 yrs. Four friends plus my child will never return. The staff is great, but the owners have bad attitudes, have not changed the activities for several yrs., lie about the trips taken(the wesite shows places the children haven't gone to in years including Madame Trussaud,on the Beast, Splish Splash etc. They act as though they r doing u a favor by having your child attend. Next year it'll be Coleman,or the JCC.All this because the terrible tone of the camp is set by the owners. The counslers for the most part are great, but unfortunatley this is overruled by the Rhonda and Mark. Especially Rhonda, when Margerie ran the camp as director,it was a decent camp.Facilites are never updated. The drama room is extremely hot, the pools are old, and they do nothing to enhance the grounds.Since Camp DeBaun closed they have an attitude they they r doing you a favor by accepting your child. Click to report rating    12/7/08   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is not just any camp it is a home, it is a home with a nurturing family within. I have been a head counselor for the past 5 summers, and can't wait to return in summer 2009. However, not only have I been enjoying my summers there, but my 3 children have too. All 4 of us have shared ever lasting memories at our "summer home", and would never even think about going any where else. At Rolling River the staff truly cares, I can see it on their faces all summer long. And when my son gets on the bus at the end of the day I know it was a good one, I can see it from the stains all across his shirt. If you are a first time parent, looking for a warm and caring place for your little one to go, I would STRONGLY suggest looking into Rolling River's facility. It would be a wise choice. RID: 27869
Click to report rating    3/13/08   3     3     3     3     3   My five year old was bored. Very small. Rushed my son and hurt his knee. Counselors wrote werid things on his shirt saying he was different at end of camp. We won't come back. RID: 21220
Click to report rating    1/22/08   4     5     5     5     5   I have been a part of the camp since it opened in 1992. I have recently left after being there for 15 years. It is a lot of fun. I consider it my summer home during the day RID: 19312
Click to report rating    1/22/08   5     5     5     5     5   pricey but worth every penny as a counsler adn parent i enjoyed ym summer and so did my kids i am going back next year with my kids and we are all excited all of teh staff truly care about every child the camp takes a huge stand on friendship bullying and individual needs a child is never lefy behind by any one and all of the campers are so nive to each other and i truly see all of this my head consler role in the camp i would never think of going any where else RID: 19286
Click to report rating    2/27/07   1     1     1     1     1   AWFUL! I have no idea why this camp is popular in the area its located in! The head staff is lousy, they don't genuinely care about anyone but themselves. The food was also lousy and I have seen better activities at every other day camp I have went to in the area. The trips for the older kids aren't great either, its always the same routine year after year. Most of the counselors are VERY young and inexperienced. The head counselors for the younger groups are mostly older but that does not say much. Definitely seek out other options in the area. You will be MUCH more impressed! RID: 8150
Click to report rating    2/22/07   1     1     1     1     1   i didnt like this camp. all we did was go to the bowling place every friday and i couldnt even bowl. haha we all know why... but not saying names...anyways, their pool was bad cuzz it was too small and everyone went in at the same time, the trips were the same thing and the buses were too small and we sometimes had to sit in car seats on the buses cuzz there was not enough room. also, they never did things with the older kids and i know that from experience, me and my friends used to throw rocks down the slide cuzz we couldnt do anyhting else. and omg once me and my friend were on the swing and she was pushing me and the guy not saying names but the owner yelled at us cuzz he said it was dangerous! we were like 10! and in the river its all dirty cuzz my kiak fell i and my legs were like dirty. to parents do not send ur kids to this kamp! it is horrible and the food in stale and rotten1 its soo yucky. i hated my summer at rolling river! RID: 8010
Click to report rating    2/9/07   1     3     3     2     1   As a former staff member, I was not at all satisfied with my experience at this day camp. I found that the head staff who ran the place were not supportive of the staff they hired. I also found that a great deal of my efforts went unnoticed and I was left looking forward for the summer to be over when it was only halfway through. I also disliked the food immensely and that is after having experiences at sleepaway camps which are known for their bad food. Yes, the grounds are pretty but don't let that fool you. RID: 7650
Click to report rating    7/31/06   4     5     5     4     4   I have been there for 4 years and LOVE it. Beach Volleyball is my favorite activity. The food is good too. I also like the Outside Trips, like Adventureland. RID: 1703
Click to report rating    4/12/06   3     3     4     3     3   good camp not many in the area staff is friendly but not very experienced.. A lot of YOUNG staff. Its way too expensive the activities are good and the personal attention is OK (nothing to speak of) RID: 181
