Click to report rating    1/8/19   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Wasui II is amazing. I have been going to this camp for 5 years, going on 6 and I am positive I will spend many more years there. When I was 9 years old I decide to go to Camp Wasui II and I learned so much about myself in just 5 days. I was able to show my personality without being judged and I spent hours laughing non-stop with some amazing girls. I returned the next year going for a 2 week program(I was the youngest of the group) and I felt to welcomed. The older girls in the group were so caring and helpful and the counselors helped me and taught me life long lessons. I have returned every year because this is the place I want to spend my summer at. The counselors are so nice and it is so much fun to spend a week or two learning about different cultures. I have an allergy and Camp Wasui II was able to fully accommodate me and I felt so safe with everything they made. Camp Wasui II also has the Sierra Buttes and lakes nearby for a fun adventure. Camp Wasui II is the best camp. RID: 52412
Click to report rating    7/26/18   2     1     2     1     1   My daughter is an excellent swimmer (3+ years of swim lessons) however when the swim test came up there wasn't any warning and she didn't do well. She had to wade in 3ft of water all week and wasn't given another opportunity to prove her skill. This is super frustrating for me as a parent because that was a key component/attribute of camp. Additionally, she came home with a full infestation of head lice. Not a few bugs, but all over every inch of her head. There was no sign of lice prior to her leaving for camp, there was no sign of lice during her head check on the first day, but there was a full blown infestation when she came home. I was told that camp counselors were borrowing her hat over the course of the week. This has cost my family a tremendous amount of money out of pocket to not only disinfect our home, take days off work, but also re-treat due to the severity. I will not send my child back here again and I will not recommend this camp. RID: 52089

Click to report rating    7/26/16   5     5     5     5     5   I am fifteen and have been to camp here twice; I have had great experiences both times. The counselors were excellent; they were always willing to help us and they involved us in the planning of the week's activities. They also seemed genuinely enthusiastic to be there and invested in making everyone's camp experience a good one. The location of the camp is amazing and the facilities are nice as well. There are so many outdoor activities available, including the lake, a low ropes course, two archery ranges, and the pool. The bathrooms all have hot water, and though you may find the occasional bug in the shower, they're about as nice as you can expect for camp bathrooms. Each day is filled with fun activities and you are always so busy having fun that the days fly by before you know it. This is also one of the most affordable camps ever; many other week-long camps cost two or three times as much. I think the camp has improved a lot in the past few years and I would definitely go again. RID: 49834
Click to report rating    7/3/16   1     1     3     1     1   I went there when I was 9 however now I'm 14 and still scarred from the experience. On the 2nd night of camp I cried because my stomach hurt, but instead of being responsible and sending me to the "nurse facilities" the councilor a told me that my stomach didn't hurt I was just home sick. That night the power went off so we all slept in the Cafeteria, this was the worst night of camp. While we were sleeping I threw up all over my pillow, but It was so dark I didn't know where the counselors where, so I layed next to my barf for the rest of the night. The next day my tummy still hurt, and I had barf on my pillow so they let me go to the nurse. The nurse gave me pepto bismal, and let me sit in the ofice for 15 minute, than she told me to leave and expected I would be fine to go do everyday camp activities, but I still felt sick. After all this I just wanted to leave, and it was obvious I had the flu, but I couldn't even call home. This was my first camp and I haven't gone to another camp RID: 49731
Click to report rating    7/27/15   5     4     5     5     5   Thank you so much for having fabulous and challenging adventures for our older girls. My daughter had such a wonderful time. I loved getting letters from her hearing about everything - the good, the cold, the better, the best. Anyway, I just wanted to say that Syrup had such a good time and can't wait for next year. She really loved hearing the Maori song that Fern and Fin and Cray sang to them at their special ceremony. It was very touching to me to see all the little girls loving on Irene when I came to pick her up today. And all the hugs she got from her fellow CITs. This camp is really something special. You and your staff have really helped to make it so so great. Thank you thank you thank you! RID: 48945

Click to report rating    2/25/15   5     5     5     5     5   Camp Wasiu II is an amazing place that creates one-of-a-kind opportunities for girls to tap into their deepest potential and explore a variety of interests and activities. Every parent I have spoken with had the same thing to say after sending their children to this camp. They all were thrilled by how excited their girls were to share stories and talk about new friends. Creating a safe and nurturing environment, the staff of Camp Wasiu II clearly care about every camper and do everything they can to make a positive impact on the kids' lives. I would highly recommend this camp to every girl and every parent I know. RID: 48447

Click to report rating    3/28/13   5     4     5     5     5   Camp Wasiu II is a Super place. After being closed for a couple of years it opened again last year and was such a great experience for my girls. The satff was really friendly and they loved that some of the staff were from Europe. lots of good variety of food. The Girl Scouts have been working really hard to update this High Sierra property and I cant wait to send them again this year. It is surely the best value of any girls camp. RID: 44129
Click to report rating    8/12/12   5     3     5     5     5   My daughter and I have been going to Camp Wasiu II with the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada for 4 years now, and we have loved every single experience! It is a typical rustic Girl Scout camp with canvas platform tents, squeaky cots (half are new this year!) and well water - but in one of the most beautiful places on earth, the Western Sierra Nevada! The views are lovely, and you can see so many stars @ night! The staff is friendly, the food is good & nutritious, and the activities are diverse enough to keep all of your girls happy. We can't wait until next year! RID: 42339

Click to report rating    9/16/08   1     2     2     2     2   I think this camp is a little rough, but it has so much potential with the right staff and volunteers we could make it great again. My girls had a wonderful weekend here and I have been back 4 times this year and plan to be back next year. It would be great if everyone could pitch in and make it a better camp for the girls. It needs some love. RID: 26565
Click to report rating    2/11/08   1     1     1     1     1   Oh my gosh: this camp is horrible, first I thought that maybe scince i was staying there for a WEEK that they would have water for me to drink so i only brought 1 bottle. Well you had to get the water from a rusty old fosit and it tastes so bad, i drank and i threw up in my mouth and they told me to DEAL with it!! And the counsulers are so mean! They yell and dont answer your questions, like there was a huge beatle in my bed and i screamed and the counsler came and yelled at me. Then they were going to take us swiming at a lake wich was a 4 mile hike there. once we got there, they wouldnt let us swim! They made us eat our lunch and watch the other people swim in the lake.So we had to walk 8 miles straigh!!!!Then this weird girl peed her bed and the counleurs said that no one was supposted to no but she told everyone about it so i felt really bad for that girl cause she trusted the counsler!! Click to report rating    2/8/08   1     2     1     1     1   i used to love this camp. i went there when i was younger but now it is poorly run. i wish it was more like it used to be. i hope it will see its old glory sometime soon. and the staff could definately use an overhaul. remember tanaya people? Click to report rating    5/28/07   1     2     1     1     2   This camp is horrible. The staff wasn't friendly or welcoming and all of the girl campers are geeky and weird. The activities are really boring and unordinary, and often don't have to do with the camp session that you signed up for. The pool is freezing cold, there's no one NORMAL to hang out with (girls are freaky), and facilities are pretty trashed. I wish I hadn't gone; it was one of the worst weeks of my life! RID: 11236
