We've been sending our kids to this camp for years and have no complaints whatsoever. It's the highlight of their summer - they don't want to come home after their time there. I'm also surprised by the comment of the parent below. This is something we haven't experienced. The hiking is great. The overnight camp out is fun. The songs they learn are great! The counselors are highly engaged, even at departure when they are all in tears saying their goodbyes. It's also a good deal compared to other camps we have sent them to. We will certainly be returning!

We did a quick search of reviews and found the previous mothers review which surprised us. We have been sending our boy and girls to this camp for years as campers. They absolutely love it and always ask when they come home which sessions they are allowed to go to next year. Last year we went to family camp also and I can easily say as a parent that I am very comfortable with the facilities and how camp is operated. The food is absolutely incredible and Ally the cook made each meal we sat at like it was her own family who was eating. Staff were great and when we went on a day home they had extra water bottles for one of my girls who lost hers on the hike. We have already booked this year and our cousins are sending their kids too based on all the songs my kids have taught them at Christmas. Anyway, after reading the other review I think as a parent who has been to Camp Latina WITH our family, we are very happy to keep our kids returning.

as a mother of 2 boys,I feel that it is my duty to warn other parents to stay far far away from Camp Latona on Gambier Island for the health and safety of your children.I sent my 2 healthy boys to overnight camp in the summer of 2016.When they came home they were so ill(norwalk),sunburnt,dehydrated, and over 100 mosquito bites between the 2 of them.On day 1 of my boys arrival the bathrooms were unusable,full to the rim with feces,never had toilet paper,feces smeared on the stall walls,and out of the 6 days the stalls were never cleaned.I provided my boys with water bottles,sunblock,and bug spray they were never told once by a councilor to put it on.In fact a councilor misplaced my sons water bottle on one of the hottest days of the year,which put him in the nurses office for the final day of their stay.I also gave one of the councilors an asthma puffer and never got it returned.I can go on and on.I have tried getting a hold of them but no response! 3xemail,3xphone.
