The camp community at Mt Laurel, NJ is as frustrating as cited at others. Among the larger facility & given affinity kids develop at Academy, it underutilizes highlights. All mentioned here also resounds of how the NJ program runs. The young adult counselors don't get sales off activities w/ kids, & it shows that LTF doesn't expect otherwise. There's a handful engaged in educational type activities w/ kids during crafts etc, largely w/out tools for such & covering much ground. The instructional basis of crafts isn't given personal attn b/c sev'l young adults hang out in the gym or back & don't bother to know the projects. Mgrs in place don't run rubrics of those activities so much as responding when kids finally lose it, & not consist'ly. My husband hasn't been emailed on an incident. A few girls make disrespectful faces as habit. No labeled cubbies. Some say it's best for younger kids. Only older kids hang out in a gym or blank room like that, from 30 or 45 minutes total at a school.

My child went to the Cinco Ranch Lifetime Fitness Summer activity camp in the greater Houston area. The brochure lists all kinds of fun things which the kids actually do not get to do. The person in charge for the summer activity center is Keely who mentions of a hour by hour daily itinerary with activities which dose not exist and is not followed. The barely 18 old counselors are in charge of the kids. The kids stay in the basketball court most of the day and try to keep themselves busy by themselves. The center keeps 4 boxes in that room with incomplete items making it impossible to play a board game, or do a craft for example. I have not seen any kids near any of those boxes ever. Wednesday they take the kids to field trip. Rest of the days it is the same boaring routine. In summary this camp is run by a bunch of 18 year olds where the kids are responsible to keep themselves occupy almost all day long other than 2 hrs of swimming and 1 hr of rock climbing everyday. Waste of money.

Run by a bunch of irresponsible kids who just let the kids play on their own in the big basketball play area.

The description in their brochure lists all of the fun and amazing things your kid will do all week. What a joke! My 3 boys arrived Monday morning so excited for a fun day of stuff to do and were grunted at by a very surly teenager who looked like she just rolled out of bed. There was a picnic table (where 2 other teen " counselors" were lying down) with 2 old board games on it, a tarp in the middle of the basketball court with baby toys on it ( my kids were elementary school age), and about 10 old dirty half-inflated balls being thrown around. Unbelievable. I was assured by the "director" that activities were planned for the day before I left my boys there. At pickup time, my kids told me stories of counselors' profanity, sitting around all day doing nothing, kids getting in fights, etc... After giving it one more day, I pulled them out. Do NOT sign your kids up for ANYTHING at Lifetime! They hire any warm body.
