I've been to Camp Hale the past two years with two different troops, and I enjoyed it. I don't understand the other rating. Everything has been geared to help the scouts achieve their merit badges while having fun. Everyone pays the same amount of money to attend the camp. I have been to only one other camp, so I don't have a lot to compare, but I do know HSR far exceeded the other camp I was at in all ways except ease of getting around. Hale is definitely rugged, a lot of ups and downs in the trails, but that's part of what makes it good. The staff is fantastic, always willing to talk and interact with the campers. The facilities exceeded my expectations, especially the shower facilities. There was always something for the campers, even adult campers, to do. With that many campers, it's naturally hard to give a lot of personal attention, yet somehow they did. I recommend this camp very highly to scout troops looking for a quality experience! I don't understand the other rating shown.

The staff showed blunt disregard for the lives of scouts and descriminated based on monetary status. When an altercation arouse the side of the "lesser" individual was not heard or considered. Camp leader made extremily strong false accusations toward a young boy in the camp and the camp leader would not allow the boy to tell his side of the story and was sent home.
