Click to report rating    11/28/15   2     2     1     1     2   I had a terrible time. The staff payed no attention and they provided no help when I was having a hard time with an other camper. We play sports in the parking lot and the head of swim never gave any reports . RID: 49315

Click to report rating    9/14/07   1     2     2     2     2   this camp has really gone down hill. the staff, ever year, gets worse and worse. this year they was a particularly immature and irresponsible staff with lots of firings and replacement counselors. (the other counselors had no professionalism as they would discuss it in front of the campers--my 2nd grader said some counselor were fired for smoking.) it doesn't matter that the administrators are competent as the kids, yes college and high school kids, that watch our campers all day are horrible. the activities are boring and repetiive. if you live in nassau, send them to the west hills, pierce, etc. it's worth the little extra money. the only way they stay in business is by being one of the only kosher camps in the area. if that's important, send them to y camps. much better facilities. my children were simply bored and i was very, very unimpressed with the staff. (if they were awful on visiting day, imagine how bad they are the rest of the year.) RID: 15278
Click to report rating    8/9/07   1     1     1     1     1   Beth Shalom was absolutely the WORST camp ever. ALL you did was go into a tent (which is in the parkinglot) and change . Then u go to swim and change (in the tent when the doors blow open!) Then u go home it was so boring. RID: 13787
Click to report rating    6/9/07   1     1     2     2     1   This camp used to be great but now it isn't. It is always very hot and we are outside often and the bathrooms are very dirty because little kids (pre k!) use them too. Same thing with the cafeteria. Overnights and trips tend to run late or the buses are late. Food is ok. Tents have no privacy since they are in a parking lot and the doors always fly open to see everyone change! RID: 11758
Click to report rating    6/9/07   1     1     3     1     3   When you have to pee at camp when you are changing, you can't use a bathroom. You have to pee outside the tent. One day I got very annoyed and then peed in my pants. The counselers are extremely careless. When i was finished peeing in my pants, one counselor went over and stepped into it. RID: 11751

Click to report rating    4/21/07   4     5     5     4     5   BSDC is a good camp. I've gone there for 5 years but i'm not going back because im going to sleepaway. You may have activities in a parking lot, but they have bases and all that stuff ont the lot. And there is always something going on every week. We go to splish splash, sports plus, 2 overnights, one in pa and they other in ct and during the pa overnight we go to the herrs factory, aquarium, magic show and dorney park. We also go to baseball games, broadway shows, and we have color war, and a carnival on campus. The director is very strict and rude though.the pool is great- it has a waterslide and a divingboard and it goes up to 8ft. Plus, we go to the overnights and the broadway shows in a GORGEUOUS coach bus whch has a dvd player in it! if u go to the camp up 2 4th grade and then not go after that, you shouldn't b/c TWEENS ROCK!!!! They also havw a really nice adventure park with a rock wall, zipline, etc. RID: 9906

Click to report rating    8/29/06   5     5     5     5     5   I love Beth Sholom. I've been there for a long time as a camper, CIT and counselor, and my friends and I always had a great time. It's true that some of the activities are on the parking lot, but, hey, it's a blacktop and it serves its purpose well. Older kids spend most of their times at the big, beautiful fields at the middle school or the two fields used by the Roslyn Little League (so you know they are well-maintained.) The trips are really great. When we go on overnights, you don't stay at like cheap hotes, but at nice ones. I think the best part of Beth Sholom is the staff. All of the counselors are sooo caring and hard-working, and that's why the kids enjoy themselves so much. As much as staff members like to make fun of Ginger, she does an incredible job. It's a good thing that the staff is so scared of Ginger because it means that they do their jobs so well, which means the kids have a great and safe summer. I never want to stop attending BSDC. Click to report rating    8/28/06   1     1     1     1     1   This camp is horrible! I felt like I paid alot of money to have my child spend the summer playing in a parking lot! The tents were dirty and not up to the standards they should be for the expensive camp costs! Spend your hard earned money at another camp! RID: 2505
Click to report rating    7/6/06   5     4     5     5     5   I have been sending my kids to this camp for years -- and they both love it. The camp has a very "special feel" that I think comes from the fact that so many campers and staff have been there for so long. The trips are top-notch. The campers are always busy, and the counselors are exceptional. The fields where they play sports are very nice. The food is also good. RID: 1301
