Click to report rating    7/2/16   5     4     3     4     3   My two children enjoyed their time here. I was happy with everything except for we were not told ahead of time that there would be no lake activities (swimming, kayaking, tug of war) due to an alligator in the lake, and from reading other reviews, I see that's a problem they have frequently. My other gripe is that the camp is already quite expensive, and they give you a long list of items that the children must bring, but the list is not current. we had to buy white tshirts for tie dying, but they don't do that anymore. We had to buy 3-6 bandanas, they didn't get used. Otherwise, my kids had a great time, and spent 6 days playing outside with no electronics! RID: 49728
Click to report rating    8/4/15   4     4     5     4     5   I loved it at camp. It was really fun and the counselors were super nice. The dorm was spacious as well. Horse riding was really fun and so were all the other activities! That was my 10- years old daughter. Now is the mom's turn. Likes: spacious dorm - space to hang towels, etc., great activities, great price, friendly up-bit counselors, photos was taken if requested. Dislikes: insufficient shower facility, some activities cancellation. Overall: both I and my child are happy with the camp. By far better than last year YMCA camp McConnell. Camp Illahaw is a definite contender for the next summer. RID: 49000
Click to report rating    7/29/15   1     1     1     1     1   we sent our 13yr old daughter and two friends of hers to this camp. The accommodation's are horrible. It was filthy and very unsafe. The doors to the dorms did not lock nor did the locks on the doors to the shower. Most of the counselors were teenagers looking out for MY teenager. The specified activities were outlined properly and some were not longer offered, only being told AFTER we arrived. The meals were disgusting and they only offered one choice for every camper. My daughter wanted to call home and they just laughed at her and refused to let her call. The counselors that were supposed to be sleeping in their door, would sneak out during the night making our girls frightened. They also were suppose to have a orientation for the camp for parents and campers the first day and after we arrived they proceeded to tell us that they no longer were going to have it and that it was time to leave! Do not spend your money on this camp!!Total rip Off!!!! RID: 48959
Click to report rating    4/28/15   5     4     5     5     5   We live in Melbourne, I have an 11 year old son and I just found out about this camp when we took a Zipline Adventure at Forever Florida. The staff was amazing and they took us on a tour of their campsite and we fell in love with it. My son is so excited and we can't wait for the summer! RID: 48623
Click to report rating    4/11/14   5     5     5     5     5   This camp is AMAZING! My daughter loved it, she can't stop talking about the counselors and she made great friends. Her favorite activity was Horseback Riding! She will definitely be there this summer :) RID: 47180
Click to report rating    8/4/13   3     3     4     4     4   We signed up online and were told that due to the economy that it would be a discounted rate this year...the price was very good for a week. You must realize that this is not really a equestrian camp more of a camp-camp. Metal buildings, archery and shooting, the food was ok, but not campfire cooked (mini-pizza, mac-n-cheese, eggs, pancakes, bacon, hot-dogs). The Kids did basic activities like archery, hiking, tug-o-war, and swimming. The swimming was in a small pond with some baby Alligators, which we were assured would be removed by next year. The staff was young, European teenagers mainly. They were capable of keeping up with the kids but were a little distant in week 8. I would say all in all this is a great value, but be aware the zip-line, paintball, survival and raw-hide(extended horse riding)are an additional charge. Our youngster said he would go back happily. Click to report rating    7/27/13   5     4     5     5     5   This was my daughters first sleep away camp and she loved it. She would do it again in a heartbeat. She was happy with the activities loved the horseback riding and thought the zip line was a blast. She had archery, nature hikes, Kayaks and canoes too. Great value for our money. RID: 45393
Click to report rating    11/15/12   5     4     5     4     5   I have been going here for 4 years and I love it more each year! All the counselors are from a program called camp america that gives college aged kids from all around the world (mostly the UK though) a chance to be a counselor in the US and experience it here. They are some of the goofiest, most amazing people that can teach you a lot about other countries if you take the time to listen to them about it :) While the facilities may not be top of the art, they are very homey and comfortable. The activities are very fun (My favorite is horseback riding), all the campers are very nice, and it's a great way to get away from the busy city life. I HIGHLY recommend it here! RID: 43037
Click to report rating    8/15/12   4     1     1     1     1   My son went to this camp July 2012. It was a 7 day over night camp. The website and the pictures on the site looking nothing like it is when you get there. It's dirty, not much equipment, and not many activities. When we got there the counselor said they wouldn't be able to do the Kayaking or tug of war because of the alligator in their small pond. My son was there for 3 days and all they did was walk for hours in the hot sun and play in the swamp or watch movies. I picked him up when he was allowed to call me which was 3 days later. He had a fever and was bullied since he got there by an older child. RID: 42388
