It is an absolutely wonderful place to be! I sent a boy and a girl for many years and couldn't be happier! They love their camp friends, miss it terribly during the school year, and couldnt wait to get back in the summer. They have now aged out but in a world so full of social media it was a wonderful place to be, just a kid. RID: 50147

Now both of my kids attend, in addition my niece an some close friends started attending as well. Next Summer will be our 5th year at Vista. RID: 50145

Click to report rating    9/28/16   5     5     5     5     5   I was a camper at Sierra Vista and it was such a great experience I looked forward to my son going. Seeing the change and growth of the camp from the 1980's to now was inspiring, I was very athletic, my son is not, and he had 5 fabulous years sharing in tribe Comp and also activities such as fencing, theatre, journalism, skeet shooting. I went from age 12-16 and so did my son, every year offered new friends, experiences in a loving Christian environment. The Hawkins family have done an excellent job and I wish this experience for all children. RID: 50143

Click to report rating    9/28/16   5     5     5     5     5   Both of my children attend Vista Camps. I like how the boys camp and the girls camp are run separately. They are able to be at the same location at the same time, but also have their own personal experiences. The Hawkins family has run the camp for 3 generations and they literally make you feel like you are a part of the family. My son was experiencing homesickness the first summer he was there (6 years old) and I was able to call and check on him daily and talk to his counselors about ways to distract/comfort him. I'm SO happy we made him stick it out, bc by the end of the week, he was begging to stay longer. I felt very comfortable with the staff and nurses as well. The only thing I can think of to improve on the program would be to have an "Adults Only" session for all of the parents! My kids love Vista and we talk about it all year long! RID: 50141
Click to report rating    11/19/15   1     5     3     2     1   Honestly do not even think about this camp if your child is over 10 years old. Specifically if your child is a girl. The girls are horrible and clique and that goes for the campers and counselors. They all have known eachother since they were around five and so their tight nit groups refuse to let an outsider in. Also if your child doesn't fit the perfect athletic model they want, the people will make them feel worthless. Also there is a lot of unnecessary nudity in the cabins. Girls run around naked with no regard for others. Dont waste your time or money here. RID: 49307
Click to report rating    8/1/13   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter has been to Camp Sierra Vista for 5 years and looks forward to it all year long. The Hawkins family does an incredible job making you feel welcome and loved.... just like family. It's a smaller camp setting and it seems to give each camper more personal attention than some other camps I've heard about. We definitely did a lot of research when choosing a camp for our daughter and we are blessed to have found one with such a safe, wholesome, and family-like reputation. We'll be sending our son to camp in a couple of years and cannot wait. RID: 45462
