I liked it. A week of vacation for me, and I didn't have to worry about the boys. They love it and always talk about it for a month or two before it starts. It's a good camp.

The staff was excellent, my son loved it and talks about camp all the time, and Tamarack offered great facilities for a legitimate camping experience. We stayed in Lakota, the furthest out site besides Miami, and the boys had a blast staying there. We had a dinner night with the troop in Miami and they all played capture the flag and frisbee together. Scoutcraft deserves every bit of praise given to them. Their pioneering towers were huge and just unbelievable. Wood Lake was a big surprise-it was huge. There was a dock for boating, beginner's and swimmer's swimming areas (one was deep, one was shallow), and a fishing dock. The aquatics staff watched us like hawks, but they didn't bother us and they were keeping us safe so it was fine. The water was cool even with the hot July weather. Overall, Tamarack is a fun experience, has great facilities, and gives scouts a reason to love camping.

Camp Tamarack, located just two hours away from Chicago on Wood Lake Scout Reservation, provides Boy Scouts with a memorable experience to last a lifetime. At the different areas, such as Aquatics, Archery, Eagles an Beyond, Ecology, Handicraft, Scoutcraft, and Shooting Sports, boys can work on various merit badges, with over forty offered. Activities ranging from shotgun shooting to swimming on the lake allow boys to kick back and enjoy their stay in a safe yet relaxed environment. Camp Tamarack is frequently cited as having an excellent staff by Nationals, particularly at the Scoutcraft program area. They are a very battle-worn group of staffers and handle any problem thrown at them with ease. Overall, Camp Tamarack is one of the best places in the Midwest to send your troop or Venture crew. -CITom
