I had signed my daughter up for one week of camp since she tends to change her mind quickly. I don't know what they do in there but Gemma was ADDICTED to camp and begged me to send her for the next few weeks. She loved her counselor Michaela (and I think Erica)- they taught her a new hip hop dance every week and a musical theater song then got to perform at the end of the week. Thank you thank you for making child feel so great.

My daughter signed up for a week of theater camp this Summer. She wanted to quit after day 1. I made her go a second day because we shelled out $800 for the week. After day 2 she really raised a fuss. We didn't force her to continue. Her take was that the instructors didn't go out of their way to be fun or nice. A parent can tell upon entering that they are all singers/actors in the real world but what they seem to be lacking is an interest in or an energy for children. If your child really is serious about theater it is probably a good place for them to gain some learning. If they just want to have a blast of a summer I'd suggest taking a different route especially due to the high price tag.

My son went to Camp Apause for two summers and made some of his best friends there and got his agent. He made two films there and performed in their shows on Friday and loved every second. He is working professionally now and was already in a Briadway show. We owe it to Applause.

My daughters (5 and 7) attended Applause's camp last summer. We were able to sign up for one week in June and then came back at the end of July. I can't say enough great things about this program- in one week they learned a whole hip-hop dance, a musical theater number and got to meet an actor who was starring in Billy Elliot. My husband and I were able to see them perform at the afternoon show on Friday. My only complaint is that the camp is very expensive..I would have signed up for more weeks if there was a discount...
