Click to report rating    8/28/21   1     2     2     1     2   The staff overall was extremely immature. Luckily I was able to distance my self and run an awesome program. Not without challenges.I had groups try and leave without picking up the balls.I would not let them leave until all the balls were picked up. Counselors were absolutely no help. The supervisor proposed the idea that I should pick up all the balls during off periods instead of the kids after they played. I had groups attempt to come to tennis with sandals and flip flops. The counselors looked at me like I was crazy when I told them they can't play. I had no help for 90% of the summer and when I’m finally thrown a CIT i'm criticized for utilizing him. The camp laughed at me when I told them we need to order more balls because athletics kept stealing them for other sports. I came up with numerous ideas that would of made camp more exciting, but it was all ignored. I went above and beyond. I was one of the few who didn't quit or get fired. You would think I would be at least thanked. RID: 53462
Click to report rating    8/12/21   2     3     3     3     2   I've been going here for 10 years. I cry when I think of it bc this camp gave me the greatest times of my life. When this Candace woman became the leader, it all changed. She is horrible. No one even goes there anymore. This camp will never be the same. CITs also used to mock my depression. Even when I was in the middle of my best years, counselors used to make fun of me behind my back. The staff was never really 100%, although I got on a lot of the staff's good side, and they liked me. The point is... unless you could invent a time machine, don't come here, especially if you have depression or lack of energy, and just want to feel accepted. This camp changed. Thank Candace. Click to report rating    7/3/19   1     1     1     1     1   I really wanted to like this camp, and sent my daughter, despite reading troubling comments. Unfortunately, the criticisms are true. There is a disturbing lack of supervision for these kids. Many spend most hours of the day wandering with nothing to do or sitting around. There is two and a half hours of instruction, other than that they are completely on their own. No organized activities, no supervision. Such a disappointing experience. Say your money, send your child somewhere else. RID: 52711
Click to report rating    6/17/16   5     5     5     4     5   I have been going to LWASD for 9 years. I first started as 1st grader in 2008 and now an incoming 9th Grade CIT in summer 2016. As I got older, the camp was changing rapidly, and it was exciting. They have great food, a big swimming pool, and a wide open field for sports. Most counselors and CITs are nice, however, some aren't. Some can be responsible, and some can be annoying and irresponsible, but that's a very little problem. Overall, this is a great camp, and I recommend this camp to kids who are athletic, artsy, talented, or just want to have a fun summer. RID: 49674
Click to report rating    2/14/16   4     3     4     3     4   lwa was fun pre-k through 6th grade.the overnight trips are amazing for kids entering 5th grade and up. but, the activities got pretty boring over the years. they're the same thing every summer. most c.i.t's are rude & full of themselves. the girls in my group were the same all of the years i went there. i never really got a chance to get to know other girls in the same age group as me that weren't in my group. i knew some jappy people that went there, but there aren't many. i absolutely hated the locker room where the girls had to change for swim. it's disgusting. the floors were always soggy and rusted. the food is amazing, though. campers got to swim twice a day. you also get ice pops at the end of the day. my overall rating of lwasd out of 10 is 6.5/10 RID: 49431
Click to report rating    8/3/15   3     1     1     2     1   My kids went to LWA for 3 years since they were in 1st grade. They loved it at first. As some of the campers mentioned, the activities are repetitive years after years. If you want your kids to just play all day, this camp maybe is fine. But if you want your kids to learn something whether it's academics or sports, this camp may not be right. That's why we left. We wanted our kids to learn something if we are paying that much money. We are very glad that they are out of the dirty pool especially the locker room. Our kids swimming suits were infested with bacteria since it was not properly ventilated. They had to wear it again and again. OMG. RID: 48991
Click to report rating    7/9/15   5     5     5     5     5   Lawrence Woodmere Academy is a wonderful summer day camp! The activities are different each day of the week. Food is great, lots of different foods to choose from. RID: 48846
Click to report rating    3/26/15   5     5     5     5     5   My three children have been attending lwa for the past 5+ years, The entire staff are a group of responsible moms, dads and responsible kids/adults.i have never had a complaint regarding food, activities or any other issue. They offer a fun, safe environment where you can enjoy the summer. If there is ever a question or problem it is dealt with quickly and efficiently. Barbara the director deals with theses children as if each and everyone was literally her own. As a mom she is on top of everything constantly.Ii am completely happy with lwa ! In terms of food kids in general are picky and don't like much including home cooked meals. They try to have an assortment of everything to cover e everyones picky appetites. They even offer kosher food!! RID: 48545
Click to report rating    8/1/13   1     1     1     1     1   This was way too expensive for This service. There is mold on the bread and it is terrible. The trips are ok but the staff is pretty rude to kids. I don't think my child liked this and he's hot a reason. Theactivitiesare boring and I see that the cits are it having any fun and they pay 4000 dollars . It's a rip off RID: 45466
Click to report rating    1/5/12   5     5     5     5     5   My daughter has attended this camp for years and she loves it! She would wake up every morning and look at the calendar, which we had hanging up, to see what special activity was going on for that day. With so many fun and exciting things, she never knew which one she liked the best. We can't wait for the summer to be here! RID: 37644

10/27/11   5     5     5     5     5   My son has attended this program for years and loves it. The caring staff, the unique program, close to our home at a fair price all work for us. No reason to go anywhere else! RID: 37166
Click to report rating    10/24/11   5     5     5     5     5   My child had the time of her life this summer! The staff was extraordinary, activities amazing. The last 2 summers have been an incredible turn around from a nice place to one meeting the kids' needs and leaving them waiting for camp all year long. My daughter feels like she's at sleepaway camp but doesn't have to sleep away, except for the optional overnights which the kids say were awesome. It seemed like every day was something more special than the one before. I am grateful for such a safe and amazing place so close to home! RID: 37133
Click to report rating    7/6/11   4     2     2     5     3   they really need to change the food it not edible. some of the young counselors are nice but the older women are just mean and they dont want to be there. i think they just want free camp for there kids so they hate it. RID: 36297

Too many complaints to list. Dropped all activities my son was interested in. Put child in **** group. RID: 33541

Click to report rating    7/19/07   5     4     4     4     4   The camp is great for the first few years. It's repetative in activities, so older campers become a little bored. Up to fourth grade is great. Staff is wonderful. Dealing with them for nine years. never a problem RID: 13121
Click to report rating    6/9/07   2     1     1     1     3   This was the most annyoing and boringest place i ever went. Kids and counselors are mean. The only good part about camp is that once a year you go to Shea Staduim if you are in the right age group. RID: 11750
