Adventure abounds at this camp. My daughter attended for 5 years as a camper and is now a counselor. Wabun has sought her many life lessons. Including, that any really great adventure should begin with a little nervousness, and that taking on a challenge with a group is empowering! This camp is full of growth mindset personal.

I can't say enough about Wabun. It's a wilderness canoe tripping camp in what must be the most gorgeous territory in the North Woods. All three of my kids started at age 11 or 12, and now my oldest daughter will be a counselor for her second year. After a couple of days teaching campers the basics of traveling through the wilderness under their own power, most of the time is spent out exploring lakes and rivers and ancient portaging trails. The camp is in its 81st year; they really know how to do it right. My kids come back happy, strong, unplugged from all the hype of our electronic culture, confident (because they've done everything themselves!), bonded with the other kids they had to work with through thick and thin, and just radiating sunshine. And these are teenagers! It was hard at first to let them go for six weeks (3 weeks for age 10 to 12), but my husband and I had some learning to do too. Letting go, letting them go, helped us all grow up. Best investment we made in them.
